How do I disable the recoloring of item rarity?
I understand why you recolored them to match games like WoW rarity coloring, but I prefer the vanilla one simply cause I'm used to it, otherwise it's a great mod.

It would be amazing to have all you did in transported to the compact version of the UI, but I think I can just dream about it for a long time since the mod was made in 2023.

Is there a way to change the color of the text? Mine is a dark red not white/yellow like the screenshot?

This mod is incredibly polished, clean, and just plain beautiful.

Man, I love this mod so much. This is so much better than the other 'Dark UI' that many seem to use. Keeps the rugged feel of the original UI and feels like it actually belongs in the game. I just love it. Looks fantastic.

turns out, you can by editing the Kenshi_UI.PNG file in mods GUI GFX Folder, just for those that also have a bit of colour blindness

is there a way to edit the colouration of the robot limbs in the UI health section? to my eyes it looks the same

Search your mod folders (both the local one in 'steamapps\common\Kenshi\mods' and the workshop one in 'steamapps\workshop\content\233860') for the file "kenshi_colours.xml".

If there's more than one, the file loaded last will take effect.

I had the same issue, and mine was from "Unofficial Patches for Kenshi".

Great UI except for the limbs part. I find Dark UI's limb damage and dismemberment easier to read.

I have always been on Team Vanilla UI but I'll give this one a try. (The original one belongs at the in a game that takes place at the height of the Second or even the First Empire, far to sleek lol). This one looks like it still has the proper amount of grittiness and texture.

@bondi indeed that's not my colors at all. Could be any other mod that conflict into changing fonts including big mod packs like genesis.

@Deadmano My final work has nothing to do with a simple phs layer/color work or cleaning. I have rebuilt everything here bro, there is (almost) no trace left of Rohzdear's take on my asset and I started from vanilla asset to be perfectly honest. (Compare all borders to check) I said it in the description already but my mod use eldryn's asset format (not texture) meaning only xml values and rough shapes. Rohzdear's is just additional ideas/inspiration. And like I said if you don't use the icons, you have the green light (the whole icon section on the upper part the texture file, I must remain the only owner of that so sorry but if you do a whole new mod you will have to downgrade for the vanilla or other icons).

@Shirohô: No worries at all, totally understandable! I've already put in quite a few hours cleaning up the pixelation and border issues so I totally get what you mean! {リンクが削除されました}These are the images I am hoping to use. I've cleaned up some of them already so they may look a bit different, but I used yours as a source which I believe some are based off of the work of Rohzdear who has already given me their permission to use their assets. I'm hoping you'll be okay with it?

@Deadmano If this include my custom icons (cursors, etc.) then absolutely no, I happen to sell them on asset website and lend a commercial use contract. If there is not my icons still I would like to have a look at your stuff so I can decide (sorry to be picky-cold I worked extremely hard for this one, some of the stuff represent a whole month of work). Make some screenshots.

I finally made a tweak that works on 1440p, sans all the annoying white lines! I had to make a mix of your mod, the original, and even Rhozdear's, as well as completely redoing some elements from scratch to achieve it! I think I feel a portion of your pain now... Would you be willing to let me release it as a mod? I've used about 10% of your textures, mainly the health bars and some buttons like the pause/play buttons and the kenshi_colours.xml file.

This mod is very quality although I wish it kept the paper paneling from the base ui. gives more form to the stats and numbers the game shows you all the time, if you get what i mean.

@Shirohô: It seems to be linked to the actual mapping of the file. I think the elements are not correctly aligned to begin with. Also, the game adds borders from what I could tell; if you look at the Transparent UI mod, you'll notice strange black "grid" lines... Someone might have to tackle it from scratch and properly map the element locations. For now I've just resorted to editing it for myself, tweaking here and there (as you no doubt did for yourself). What a pain!

@Deadmano Strange... it did nothing in my case at least not on my laptop. I had locate several spot where those white line appears so like you did I removed the sensitive white section, checked twice the saved file, loaded 4th time different resolutions and still they were present in my case. May be it's solving stuff in your high resolution case because of critical upscalling but not in mine since it's at 100%. But again, why that particular item of the texture... mystery! If only we had access to the core game code and the real texture mapping T .T Anyways not much I can do really on my end now. Check the bottom right elemnts (build icon/money/day) and confirm to me there is absolutely no white line on sides (zoom up if you can).

@Shirohô: Hehe, I guess I will wait and see for your confirmation. It definitely looks far better on my end as you can see. Odd that it never showed on 1080p displays; maybe the resolution hid it? Anyway, glad it was something simple! The font size is fine, the issue is the X that is distorted as in this image. [i.imgur.com] Do you see how squashed it is? Is that something I can fix? The text cutting off in the queue would be nice to fix as well, but no rush; if you ever get a chance I would truly appreciate it! I hope you get better soon, and thanks once again for keeping this mod alive, lovely to see the versions from creator to creator!

@Deadmano or either a simplier way : Subscribe a random nicely made font mod of the workshop and check what they edited. Since it will be far less complicated with only the font targeted. It ll be easier for you to access to the size and font type. Then it will be your job to create a patch to fix it (which you are perfectly allowed to do).

@Deadmano either going to my mod's folder > GUI folder > make your way through the layout and template folder. There are several files that build the whole UI of kenshi. I warn you, looking into that to recover all the font related inputs is something that would piss me off today (even with some nice search function, because of the testings afterwards).

@Deadmano Holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥...cow. Man did you just solved a 3 month mystery in few minutes?!! Like I said I had some help from other professionals to try to solve this and you discovered it's just that bad white crap I never touch because I thought it was game's menu related! This is crazy, you are awesome. I can't check it out from now, I wasn lying for my health thing I don't have my stuff to get into it. When I will have a look if you are right, man I will credit your ass in the description for solving this mystery. Now the best chance you have with the font is either 2 things :

@Shirohô: I totally get you. Modding is an often unpaid, but it is a hobby after all. If you want to get serious, game development and/or selling assets is the way to go!

By the way, I've solved your issue, has nothing to do with my resolution, but rather there are some white (border?) elements [i.imgur.com] in your Kenshi_UI.png file.

When I removed that, the issue went away. Before [i.imgur.com] | After [i.imgur.com]

Not sure if you're aware or still remember how the file works? But I'm happy to send you the edited file. So that solves the one issue, now it is just the squashed X button as I previously mentioned. Also, you said a different font should be loaded? Can we somehow troubleshoot that? You are the author who knows best on how these things work after all.

@Deadmano otherwise you have in this UI mods some xml files (if I recall) that adjust size of elements and fonts. But that data was passed and worked through multiple mod creators and ofc I added my touch but really don't remember exactly what is what. Would need at least 2-3 day of testings to grab the whole tree in my mind.

@Deadmano you should try a take with "Uncheat's Patch for Widescreens" see the white link in the description of this mod. It should help a little to fix stuff, hopefully. As for your demand I can't install everything and work for someone else without benefit for me. Since I don't earn money or else from mods (mainly making them for myself, then only after that there is sharing). I've been on the path of trying to please everyone few years ago I ended up with a ulcera (not a joke). Also my health is really bad atm I'm casually going to hospital so it's not on my mind to grab kenshi's engine and work some more (it draws much energy). If only steam let us earn money from mods, it would be completely different though, sad thing it's not a recognized activity.

I had a look at the UI image and the button seems fine there, so I am imagining it has something to do with a layout file somewhere? Any chance you can poke at that? This issue happened after the latest Kenshi update that "fixed" the font sizes not being consistent. So perhaps it is font size related, but how does that affect the button? Is the button considered a font?

@Shirohô: Any idea on what to look for? I am indeed on a 1440p monitor, and the sweet spot seems to be 0, as anything higher starts to clip NPC names, but then the rest of the elements are smaller (curse you Kenshi for updating "localisation" and breaking unrelated things). Yours is the only mod affecting the UI, but I will take a poke and see; as I previously was using the other Dark UI mod (but that has been removed since). How would I go about checking that your font is installed?

Also, any idea regarding the crafting queue having this weird issue [i.imgur.com] with the text overlap and "phat" x button? Apparently it is not an issue in vanilla Kenshi, so mod related. :(

@Deadmano Also that's strange I don't recognize the font used in your screenshots. I didn't launch kenshi for a little while but I clearly have a "something is off" feeling with the font. Could be another mod or modpack that could trample the bast font linked with this mod, idk.

@Deadmano Hmm it looks definitely weird from your side. It might be because you own a nice resolution monitor (1440p or 4k). For your first problem of fonts, I guess you should not listen to my recommandation since it's meant to be deployed on 1080p. But for the white thingies appearing on edges, it's a real real sad issue that happens on some resolution and it's unfortunately unsolvable. I spent massive time to try to get rid of them for some high resolution folks with another screen of mine (for the record there are none to almost none in 1080p) and I never found a viable solution (linked to a bad native R.scaling of the game base engine). I even contacted my old game dev collegue to help, but sadly... nope.

Just a quick one, I want to try and figure out if it was the latest Kenshi patch that messed something up, but the crafting queue and other elements are stretched like this. @Uncheat FYI I created something like 80+ PNG with manual edition, everything I know of that job, all format, compression/no compression, interlacing or not, each time reloading the game and adjusting. Took me a crazy while and nothing worked well so I'm beat for now, worn out and also pissed. Best thing that ever worked was to find some shapes that "lure" the faulty data or engine but results were also never perfect. I'll leave it like that until I gain some more motivation especially since it's quite difficult to spot the flaws in 1080p. And above all I need to work on other mods/ideas I need to see finished.

@Uncheat now back to what said my friend, I guess it would be either the previous modder (Eldryn) when changing values of the UI let some 4/8 non-divisible numbers. My friend told me he was almost sure of this because the kind of issue we see only happeny in specific areas of the UI, meaning a number for height or wideness in each element could be faulty and need to be checkd for correction. Now the only file I see where I can imagin this rn to check stuff is at gui/skins/kenshi_skins.xml but I'm too depressed to check everything in here for now (it's a huge work).

@UnCheat Okay I've been investigating on the issue, called a few collegue back in the day I worked in video games. My friend told me it was not my png which was at fault. It was either the buffer of the engine (that loads each element) who is crappy in specific situations. Or else it's the config file that runs the UI/IHM that was modified or natively wrong with number no divisible by 4 or 8 (remember always respect the bytes numbers when creating graphisms/pixels). But there was absolutely nothing wrong with what I've done and there is no "hidden" not transparent stuff, you are in fact in ur right to do semi-opaque areas or pixels.

Ok now I finally found the solution for png while making icons for another.. currently private mod... So basically you do normal save into PNG format but select Largest File Size and importantly Interlacing. Also to make sure I always do a slight final layer shadow drop on transparent parts to make sure there is no light semi-transparent pixels and yes.. final picture should be cleaned

It's working now, sorry i didn't get to try until now. I had family things. Sorry for any headache. I think it was my saves, none of them are loading but I can start a new game with no issues.
