Excellent, now all I need is a mod that let's crew walk on scaffoldings and I will have the modern game up to snuff with all my favorite classic tricks. Then I can really have some fun.

Hello! I also wanted it to be compatible... and I discovered that if there is no "AllowedDoorLocations", then doors are automatically placed at every edge. This makes it much easier to allow doors at every edge since you can just remove the node instead of specifying coordinates for every door!


So here's how I went about removing the limits on More Crew Quarters. If that author decided to implement a "MaxDoors", it would still be removed so I have that in there even knowing it currently doesn't do anything. I like specifying the start point of "./Data/" because then no matter where you put your WIP mod, it'll go up to the correct Workshop directory from there.

Hi @AstriaTheFox ! Yes, i should be able to do it. The only problem that persist from the last time someone asked me to do the exact thing, is that i'm waiting for a response on how to mod another mod, specifically which path should i write down, as i didn't receive an answer and tried multiple path but never got it working. Right now i just asked again, so if they'll answer i'll do it!

BTW i had two path; first one being this, and the second one was to re-upload the mod with my modifications, but never got a response from the dev so honestly without authorization i don't wanna do it

It was me, I asked the other guy about the possibility of adding more doors, but then realized that asking for a patch here would probably be smarter. And I was right, he had no interest, although I don't understand how Crew Quarters having more doors is game breaking? I don't want more door spots so I can have 6 doors on each room, I want them so that I can make my ship look more aesthetically appealing.

Anyway, a separate mod as a patch was exactly what I was implying. That's how most mods add compatibility with other mods. That way, if people don't want the extra doors or simply don't want that other mod, they don't have to.

I would do it myself, if I knew how to do any of this. Really wish there was proper guide somewhere to teach me. Best I know how to do, is edit files through notepad or some other program for basic stuff.

so thanks for the infos @Thundercraft ! First of all i think it would be easier to have more doors by just modifying that mod, instead of doing it through my mod. I'll try to ask the author, but if the answer is negative i can't do anything. Still i'll try!

Someone had already complained to the author of "More Crew Quarters" about how a quote, "lack of doors is a bit restrictive on builds" and asked if the added crew quarters quote, "could get more door access points". The author replied with quote, "It's intended to be restrictive..." and cited some sort of balance reason, so I have my doubts that the author would be amenable to what you suggest.

Actually, now that I think about it, I have to wonder if it'd be easier to just create a separate mod / patch to add more doors to "More Crew Quarters" instead of adding built-in support to this mod. Then again, I'm not at all familiar with modding Cosmoteer.

Hi guys! So, i'll try, as i don't have modding experience (mainly cause making this mod was rather easy and long time ago), meanwhile i think you could try to ask the author of the more crew quarters to either make a "rule" inside his mod or to make another mod that add more doors.

Just bought this game yesterday, and one thing I noticed is that the limited number of doors, compared to the old free Cosmoteer that I played for many years.
I hope modders could do the same to other sections/rooms have similar feature like yours.

the crew quaters door constrain does make more sense, IFF you can have more compact (and more expensice and more massive) crew quaters to chose between, so, you can always palce a less dense 2x2 75%ish-LOWER-CERW-DENSITY crew quater with doors everywhere, or a 1,5x capacity crew quater, that can only have 1 door at one of 2 corners (1 door with mirrored version), OR the default crew-quater as the in-between.

i also like the other mod, that has a "crew corridoe" tile, it is 1x3 large, and 2 doors can only be placed (at the center of the long side, to form a corridor of crew cabins).
i also like the "karger crew quaters" mod, that just does away with all the door constrains, but its much more expensive mid and late game and dneeds unlocking.

Usually unsubbing from the mod, launching the game, then resubbing/launching fixes most issues with the game.

Alright so, i tried it in creative to see if crew members use every doors and it works. Now i think that 80% when using the mod you need to start a save with it and can't add it after

@FireKat I'd recommend starting a new game tbh, knowing how weird the game reacts to mods suddenly being added to the game.
