A long time, many mods including this one began crashing for me so I rage quit. Now I began a new game. Mods still crashed including this one. I got one of the mod updaters that doesn't crash, and updated mods. Some mods still crashed. I rebuild my mod list gradually. There are still some favorite mods that crash. However this mod does work for me now. No crash, ftidges have freshness setting, and dupes appear to eat older food first. Wohoo! I turned off all DLC so I don't know about DLC. Try enabling only this mod and I think you can get it to work. Then add other mods. I have around 30 mods running.

It's at least not breaking things for me. I just turned it off tho, because I don't have enough polluted dirt and way too much food anyway, so waste some!

Haven't played in a while, but the moment I tried loading the game, this mod crashed the whole game.

I haven't played ONI since March because this mod is still broken.

Mod sounds good, but the recent reports are concerning.

It's so broken, I can't even remove it anymore. Every time I start the game, I get a notification that it's been uninstalled. It still shows up in the mod menu, though. Every time I open the mod menu, it also tells me the mod has been uninstalled.

I really wish they would stop ruining this game with updates.

It looks like the mods ‘Freezer’ and ‘Waste Not, Want Not’ have a bug where dupe repeatedly puts food that is below a set freshness level into the Freezer and then automatically drops it out. I don't know which of the two mods is causing the problem.

Steam was not properly updating this mod. Once I told the mod loader add on in the game to force an update, it downloaded a new version (1.9.0), and it's now working

2024-11-25 Unfortunately this is now causing a startup crash for me (the only other enabled mod is "blueprints fixed")

Somehow I found a confusing issue with the freshness setting on the refrigerator.
The mission to store food to the refrigerator inside the Rocket is not assigned to any duplicants when it's set to bring fresher food, saying "no such available items for shipping (roughly translated)".
Yet, when set to the figures lower than such rotting batch, the mission is assigned. And they did.

Just remembered this mod having apparently lost it somehow, and even though you might not read this, I wanted to say you are an absolute legend!! :D

I'm actually disappointed that such mechanisms are not incorporated in the core game. I understand progression curve and maybe it should not be available from the beginning but later on it is just boring and tedious micromanagement.

Anyway good job creating this mod!

No, it doesn't crash, I'm using it, like for many other mods @Flynn and @TheTemptedMan you need to learn how to manage your mod, and double check where the issue comes from.

I each time there is a crash you are going on every mods you'r using to say that the game is crashing, it will become a nightmare for everyone.

And btw... maybe just read the Mod page? hm?

I already use Mod Updater. I unsubscribed and re-subscribed, and now it works again. Really strange.

For everyone running into problems with this mod following the Song of the Moo update, it appears that the problem lies with Klei. If you install the mod "Mod Updater," it will properly update Waste Not Want Not and get you going again. I had to restart ONI several times before it all sync'd up and didn't crash on boot, but it is working like a charm now.

Is there any way to make the freshness slider copy over when using "copy settings" from one fridge to another?

@ChainedDjinn or you can just use the "freshness" slider on fridge + a door and some basic automisation.

I'm paying close attention to this mod, the base game feels almost unplayable without it as dupes ignore spoiling food that threatens the rest of my stock.

As a means to avoid polluted pantries until this mod can get back on its feet and dupes eat what WE want them to instead of what they decide. After all, we all know what happens when we let dupes try and think for themselves... it's often not very pretty.

As of march23 update 545357, mod doesn't crash the game, but isn't working. Dupes are still eating food with higher freshness

Can having a minimum food freshness not make the fridge eject edible food?

Crashes on 043-526946-5 (with DLC enabled) and then autodisables on next start for me too.

seems the recent game patch hit this mod really hard, it became not compatible with the dlc

Not for me. Freshness slider is still not functioning correctly, labelling food for compost crashes to desktop, dupes are refusing to eat food that's been in a freshness fridge.

Is it working again ?

they should really give modders a heads up about upcoming code changes so they can get ahead of this kind of thing

It seems to me that the new update broke something about priorities, out of all my mods, only the ones that affect priorities have stopped working.

Yeah this is a really good mod and it's a shame when it doesn't work. Hopefully it gets an update. Autoforce update mod didn't work on this one.
