You are right! It is fixed. Some skin mods for Bill was screwing it up on my end. So I guess this mod is obsolete now. Thanks for informing me!
The only mod I'm subscribed to is the "L4D1 HUD" by Urik.
P.S. I'm taking a wild guess here: Are you saying that the smoke isn't as intense as in this mod? because if I look at the screenshots posted here, the smoke seems... to be better than default one (which means you may be right). I am not sure... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
