golden gun still won't load. why don't you fix this?

Awesome mod, just needs to 101 equip the weapons to get a working pistol.
Everything else worked, had no crashes or glitches.

@bjiaqfuji I'm disappointed as well but the team involved moved on to making stuff in S&Box. Can't fault them for that, but this is an awesome map that they should take the time to fix.

@bjiaqfuji The Golden Gun definitely doesn't work but you can get by with the other weapons, or apply the fix that Gebb0r mentions earlier in the comments to get a standard HLA pistol. Not sure about the crashing but try verifying game cache and resubscribing to it. I don't recall having any crashing issues.

The map does not work - not only the crash of the map is observed, but also "my golden gun does not work".

Same as everyone else. Could not load pistol ammo into the golden gun. Managed to get as far as the first elevator. On the next map, I did not have hands or weapons.
Can't recommend this, Shame that all this effort was put into the map and it doesn't work.

Was looking forward to this one after parts 1 and 2 but I can't get it to work. golden gun won't accept magazines. No teleport as soon as you leave office. I will watch to see if you fix it so I can try again.

@kloppda your method didn't work for me.Once you pick up the gold gun,all
pistol ammo are gone. I think the gold gun use unique ammo.

Great idea with the fix, even if the GG doesn't work it allows you to enjoy this map.

The fix worked but you need to pick up the gun on the desk to open the office door. Once you do that, you are stuck with the non-working gun. Applying the fix again didn’t work for me then. The trick is to apply the fix before picking up the gun, then picking up the desk gun with your non-dominant hand. Awesome map, BTW.

Edit: This fix only works partly.

You get to use the golden pistol and can pick up ammo again, what doesnt work however, is the custom damage scaling.

So the pistol will take a lot more than 3 shots to kill enemies, just like in the HL Alyx default campaign.

For everyone who has trouble with the pistol / golden gun, this is the fix.

Enable the dev menu in the HL Alyx launch options with "-dev".
Once you are at the start of the map (office):
* Open the dev menu
* Click on "impulse 101" (will give you all weapons and some ammo)

Now you have ammo and (at least for me) once you have transitioned into the next part of the level, you can pick up ammo and it will count towards your total.

Man this one was way harder to beat than the others due to the golden gun being bugged. I was able to beat it by scavenging around for any trip mines, grenades, and other ammo types. It was a unique challenge, but it would have been a lot more fun if the gun was working.

如果说前两关是天线宝宝难度，第三关就是只狼难度——因为还有黄金手枪不能上膛的恶心bug，导致全程只能用喷子的榴弹炮模式和步枪突突突，然而子弹又奇缺，满地图手枪子弹都用不了属实是冒火。总之我还是打过了，前两关蛮快乐的，这一关就算了。警告后人，不要玩这一关。各种限时，满屏敌人，子弹稀缺，缺手枪远程输出降低80%！打完了不是意犹未尽，而是妈的总算打完了！

It's really unfortunate that this was ditched. Parts 1 & 2 were really fun, but the golden gun just doesn't load at all which makes even the easiest difficulty nearly impossible seeing as 90% of the ammo on the map is for the pistol.

When escape dam part, There are so many enemies and time clock is really fast. Can't beat. So stressful level design. Other parts are so amazing, but escape part is too hard, and I gave up to clear this mod. So disappointed.....

I really love your work! Dam 1 and 2 were great and I would love to play 3, but without the gun it's kinda bumming me out. I saw someone mentioned that once Runway was out they were going to fix the gun issue. Runway is great, by the way. Looking forward to playing 3 with the gun!

So I start in office with a pistol and ammo that I can put in my backpack but not retrieve. Then I go through the door to a garage with a truck, a fully equipped machine pistol but no ammo, but no left hand and the complete inability to move or rotate. The first level worked pretty well but this is a non-starter

I have some issue with blue geometry mesh showing up. It totally ruins immersion. They are from parts of the bridge and other smaller world parts. Anybody else had that problem ?

@greg I know it's rough. Thankfully there's enough of everything else to get by, even on Hard difficulty. The Eagle One Team stated they will eventually come back to the old maps and fix them, but right now they are working on the Runway remake which will be humongous. They are releasing a 1-hour demo of it very soon.

@Skummeh Thanks for the feedback, in looking at your video it appeared you were using teleport. I ended up having to change move modes 3 or 4 times to get to where I needed to be and have my tools/weapons appear. It wasn't until I made it into the truck bed that they were activated.. weird.. but now all modes of movement are working.. AND I have tools/weapons. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

@greg A few comments down I posted a video of my playthru. Perhaps compare what happens at that point. Were you using teleport? Maybe you need to use smooth locomotion to trigger it properly.

Well, I have tried several times, but right after the beginning in Part 3, after I go through the first door and into the light, I have an energy weapon in my hand and I can't more or change anything, I have to quit. I removed all addon's as instructed, but no joy.. any clues? I already finished the first two parts and they were great, would really like to finish the third.

Hard difficulty, no Golden Gun? No problem! Still one of the best maps in the workshop even after Valve broke the reloading of the pistol. I recommend that everyone play this anyway, even without access to it as it's an incredibly well designed experience. @Firestarter thanks, but i play on story difficulty, lol. its also the hardest part of the map, and i had literally every bit of ammo and grenades stockpiled before I activated the device. The combine were in for a bad time, leaving all those grenades laying about like that, lol. That and I have been practicing shooting those nice red tanks on their backs too >:)
