Go to documents/paradox/euiv/mod open the movie file for the mod with notepadd++ . change it to 1.29, save, close and play

Got it to work after a restart, amazed that it doesn't change the checksum, but I'd prefer when zoomed in to have more brightness/less country color overlay, basically the terrain mapmode

No idea, I haven't seen much of Imperator: Rome yet. The original author designed it to behave like Hearts of Iron 4. (zooming in fades out the mapmode colors)
