@arthyrian @Rex Bellator Better Children is fine to run with this. Baktria only starts with the faction leader in the family, thus causing the wife to die, due to CA oversight in development.

Awesome. Thank you. I wish I found this sooner. A very necessary mod, in light of the game's inclination to screw you by starting you off with a horrible spouse.

Rex Bellator, the issue is the 'Better Children' mod. It's the mod that kills off your wives in campaign. Turn off or remove that since it's the source of the issue. This mod 'Positive Marriage' works as intended

I just installed this mod, I started a Baktria campaign and now all my leader's spouses are dying after a few turns of "natural causes" despite not being old.

I am not running a particularly heavy mod list. Community patch, some minor cosmetic mods (Nordo's unit pics), some minor gameplay tweaks (more XP/Level Cap), and your Better Children mod.

Any idea what's going on?

Yup, it's a very light mod that just flips numbers from negative to positive.

is this save game compatible?

This works for me in DEI.

fantastic mod, was so annoying to have generals just hindered by being married to horrible women.

wondering if it would be possible for you to do something like this to the traits... the other thing that ruins generals traits that do nothing good for generals all because they are ordered by the Emperor to get stuck in at a choke point to protect the empire from foreign armies and just hold there.

Thank you for this mod. Marriages should be a positive thing otherwise what is the point? I wish a mod like this exists for DEI though. The spouses in DEI are horrible, usually.

I've done extensive tests and for me the problem is that this wonderful Mod unfortunately conflicts with the Traits, Talents and Toadies Character Overhaul Mod, no matter what the load order is in the Mod Manager.
This is a pity since both are great Mods.
However thanks Crimsonrider for your wonderful job; obviously any advice to solve the conflict will be liked.

I checked and the mod works as intended. Perhaps a mod conflict if you're using any other mods.

It just changes stats from negative to positive. That's pretty much all it does so.

Is there any chance that this mod will be updated and working properly?
Or does anybody knows a similar mod actually working?
I would really like to get rid of all negative attributes from wives...

Not working at all in Grand Campaign, playing as Rome. Great idea, but actually useless.

Nice mod idea always hated having my great generals and politicians causing harm to themselves or the party when they got married. Unfortunately the mod doesn't seem to be working, I'm playing as Sparta.

Hmm. Still getting negative bonuses, fun mod tho!

Thanks for the searching Crimson, I dunno if they'll bother to fix it if they haven't done so yet, maybe it could be an addon to this mod if you can work it out, it'd definitely be much welcome.

I checked with all the mods disabled, they still keep dying. Then I googled the issue and faction leaders for Baktria, Pontus and some Eastern factions are bugged. There are forum posts about this bug that date up to August last year. So maybe the latest update bugged the spouses for these factions.

In any case, report the bug to CA dev team, hopefully they fix it.

IDK if this is due to your mod, but I seem to be running into an issue where when playing pontus my leader's wife keeps dying every 2/3 turns, literally in a row. I've gone through like 4 wives in 12 turns lmao

Is this compatible with DEI???

Is there a way to modify actual marriage parameters? Things like allowing cousins to marry, or arranging proper political marriage WITHIN your own party?

I have a general sitting in my party that I cannot adopt, and I have some unmarried daughters of equal age. I'd rather marry them to my general, rather than generate a random spouse and bloat the number of characters (which are already difficult to track, since you have to control both your own party AND others all the time). But there seems to be no way.

CA developers are really not intelligent or have any foresight.

I like this mod... As a Man with a GREAT GIRL myself it must be said that having a capable woman by your side is ALWAYS better than being alone... And it is historically accurate... Rare was a great king who did not have a wonderful wife by his side... Most who didn't were usually crushed with dispair and cruel and stupid as a result because they were always distacted on what could have and not what they have now... Thank again for the mod! Just add a few new changes to the mod and it will be PERFECT! :D
