@wapski_007 This mod is super outdated. If you want to play a fully implemented Normans campaign with based on the 1066 invasion - check out my Conquest 1066 mod.

@Jean Lannes Either 1063 or 1066. 1063 allows for a unified Wales and a secession crisis as well as a bit of time to Tech Up before the invasion. But I'm still trying to figure out how to script Harold taking over power from Edward, and its not going well, so I may need to push it to 1066.

pretty sad they limited these tools for thrones so much that we cant even have big overhauls like in attila. CA is really ruining mods with every new title. its getting bad now

@Jean Lannes Try out Age of Vikings. It is roughtly the same period. And there is an upcoming 1066 Mod I created many of the art assets for that is releasing soon for Attila as well.

@TotalWar I'll readily admit to you this is a messy mod, so likely it is the problem. The Steel & Statecraft Update finally unlocked the UI - and others are now managing what I couldn't. I've been talking to the guys over on the SHIELDWALL mod. Their beta is set to release by month's end - with the intention of releasing the Normans... eventually. But I've been super jazzed at the other changes, so I'm willing to wait.

yeah its strange, its stuck in my mod manager on an infinite loading bar. i have manually deleted from workshop content folder. it was crashing my game because i was playing on steel and statecraft i think, it says it is not updated for the new patch? But i deleted it before that anyway and it was still in my mod manager, very weird. i was crashing every few turns i thought it was the remnants of this mod. Idk, dont worry about it, cuz its not ur fault. its CAs fault, every time they do an update its fucking more difficult to update mods. Plus its getting harder and harder to make and update mods with each new title. Same reason they wont allow modding tools for new models in warhammer. If modders could make import/make new unit models, people would never throw their cash at CA for warhammer fantasy unit pack DLC.

@TotalWar If you've unsubscribed it shouldn't redownload it. With Attila I've had to go in and manually delete before. It doesn't edit any files (it's a self contained pack) - try verifying your game files through Steam. Also, how is it destroying your game? Just don't play as the Normans.

the fact of the Normans being "French" since they brough the "french" culture and language to England that changed the scandanivian and germanic culture and languages that England had experience since the Migration Period .
Normans are more or less portraitd as French since of course Anglo Saxons are the "Tragic Heroic People" as Normans the "the evil orks" and of course part of tradional enemy of England France ironical enought that the tradional English-French Rivalary didnt existed before the Norman Conquest since it because of the Normans that rivalary was created since Normandy already wage several wars with France with conquest of England and rise of rise of Angevids to power that compete in France with House of Capet ; this brough the series of wars that England and France had

I spent a good week or so trying to fix the UI but nothing worked. I tried the old scripts that worked in Warhammer, as well as copying how they do it in other parts of the game but nothing worked. The new patch comign out mentions fixing some UI stuff with modding so hopefully it'll work rhen

@griffinleib Theoretically. The big hurdles right now are that Politics doesn't work and the UI is borked. I've been told the UI can be fixed through script commands -but that is beyond my abilities.

@mintyjack101 Even disabling mods sometimes doesn't remove their effects. Your best best is to verify files. As you can see from the above screenshot, and others comments on here - they are selectable normally.

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. Still seems to be a weird place to replace them with, given that most of the Danelaw was in open resistance to the Normans post-Conquest.
I am not sure how this works, but surely a faction built for conquering and pillaging like the Sea Kings would make sense? I don't know if you can change where they start, just a thought.

@BritishThegn by replacing a core faction you can still have access to the rites/missions. The political system for minor factions cant be enabled with modding currently.

If you're replacing a faction, why not one closer to the south like the Wessex vassals? Genuine question, since iirc that way you'd keep most of the unique faction rosters too.

@Drachen Good point about the starting position being too weak. I honestly hadn't considered that as this was a proof of concept. I've been conversing with another modder about doing a total conversion of East Engle to the Normans. Replacing all their existing units - etc. It wouldn't even be that a-historic as many of the jettisoned East Angles went on to conqueor Normandy.

Family tree crashes the game. Politics seem to work fine as long as the A.I. comes to you. Need more land to start, not enough food to keep the troops you start with, and starting a war with any of the factions close to you is suicide. Other then that, I've been waiting for a mod to play as the Normans. Thank you for what you've done so far.

CA created a unique name set for the Normans that's already in game. I did not mess with their religion so I assume it defaults to Christian.
