Thanks for playing and sorry about the ear-worm.

Thanks for creating, even though I now have an old Beatles song stuck in my head.

I'm GLaD you liked it; I'm certainly having fun playing your maps.
Synovus 16/jan./2018 às 14:47
Cool chamber, i liked the custom elements you added in hammer like the flying, exploding turrets. I had a bit of trouble finding the intended solution for the first chamber and how to get back to the start after hitting the end button
Bayram  [autor(a)] 23/dez./2015 às 15:13
Thanks for playing, GodFather. I will have to try to reproduce your shortcut!
God-Father 21/dez./2015 às 1:20
At first I didn't notice that at the top there is a cube , and the turrets killed, and was able to pick up the companion cube from the room with the turrets (with help a stain of gel) , and in the end just put all 3 cube to one another and jumped over the laser barrier)

dmuk : Thanks for playing and your comments. Although when I created this map I had a very specific idea of how it should be played it has opened my eyes as to just how creative people can be. Congratulations on defeating the turrets with a rush; I've never been able to do that. You're right, the radio should play music. I figured out how to do that in my all-Hammer map: " Interface (Hammer Version) ".
dmuk 19/jul./2014 às 18:41
Watched the explanation/playthru (in the images above) after, and the intended solutions were slightly different than what I cobbled together... Used only 2 cubes (those from the start) and of course the round cube in that sideroom. For the turrets, I took the more 'gonzo' approach and just rushed them when the panel dropped open, holding one of the cubes as a shield.
dmuk 19/jul./2014 às 18:13
Finished - in this case, 'toncica' was one of the friends who helped most with a wonderful idea! So, didn't use the mutant cube as intended... This is a very intricate chamber and takes thinking both ahead and behind (oh, yeah). How come the radio isn't playing any music??

aha, the penny dropped.
that is why the light bridges turn off.
I was trying to figure that out for a while :)

I considered that, but would have never solved the puzzles under time presure.
my way gave me as much time as I required.
so getting the gel covered franken on the button, guarded by turrets,
must have been unintended.
I sent it in there to kill some turrets, thinking I might be able to deal with the rest.
I turned my back on it to get to cover.
when I looked at it, it was on the button ?
so probably could not repeat that either.
all turrets unharmed.

hope you enjoy my map.
would be good to see a video of your maps intended solutions.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 16/abr./2014 às 13:56
mood3rd, well done! I think that you probably solved most of the puzzles in an unintended way, but if you enjoyed it, who cares. The intended way is to have the frankencube walk the glass hallway to turn off each laser barrier as you come to it, which is fun on the way back because he doesn't stop so you have to be quick !

I will try your map, maybe tomorrow.

it came to me :)
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=249903942
I placed gel in 2 portals on the floor & waited until the gel lost most of it's hieght.
then fired a portal just under the upper area, that I wanted to get to.
then the gel came out on the floor, under it.

graet map-thumbs up
difficulty hard, for me.
satisfaction high
please try my map.
"more than one ?"

I am stuck here:
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=249894546
I made it to the last pedestal button & am on my way back.
but can't get up here ?
the 1st time in here, I covered the franken in gel & bounced up off it.
the franken is now on the button, guarded by turrets.
perhaps the franken solution was unintended ?
their is also some glitch with the laser fields.
I had a cube blocking a laser going into a laser catcher, to turn off a laser field.
but the laser field went back on.
I had to move the cube to allow the laser to go back into the laser catcher.
then block it again, to turn off the laser field ?

Thanks for the second demo with the non-ninja unintended solutions. I may make a few small changes as a result of this, but overall what you did wasn't so easy that it makes the map not work at all. You did miss a few things that I think are enjoyable, especially the easter egg, but even so it looked to me as if you were having fun.
Brave 19/jan./2014 às 16:07
I made another demo [www.dropbox.com] solving this chamber unintended!
I think I did the beginning wrong, and didn't make use of the last section with the sphere or funnel, theres to much to my disposal in solving your chamber Bayram!
I noticed the details in this chamber, I can tell you put a lot of work using Hammer authoring tools, i'm not sure if you want to fix all these issues i've found.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 19/jan./2014 às 6:09
Thanks for the demo, but I've decided not to worry about alternate solutions that require extraordinary skill. Most people won't be able to do what you did. Those that can, well, maybe the map is too easy for them and it's more fun to look for alternate soluitions.

Losing the companion cube will definitely mess you up, that's why it's a companion cube, but there are lots of autosaves so you should be able to recover.

I agree that there's a lot of stuff packed into this map. Sorry that you didn't like that, I'd hoped to earn a thumbs up, but as GLaDOS says, "fair's fair". Thanks for playing.
Brave 18/jan./2014 às 14:52
I spent over 20 minutes in this chamber before I realize it can be solved unintended, but only if you're good at tossing cubes!
Also I accidently destroyed the solid cube at the pistol platform and dropped in the goo, which I had to go back on a saved the first time I played!
Other than that, being your first chamber the design is very nice, but this small chamber is really busy with lots of laser emitters, pedestal buttons, and floor buttons!
Don't get me wrong, back when I started playing portal, I loved busy chambers, "small or large," just not anymore!
Not sure if you want to fix this unintended solving [www.dropbox.com]
Bayram  [autor(a)] 2/dez./2013 às 4:29
Thanks for playing and commenting. Yes, quicksave is important, but there is also some fairly complicated autosave logic in this map, particularly for the dash back to the entry / exit area when the frankencube does not stop and wait for you.
Stagger Lee 2/dez./2013 às 3:53
I finally got around to playing this. Tricky map but I made it through although I may have done some parts in unintended ways. Quicksave was my friend as much as the Companion Cube was as there are ways one can trap themself.in a couple of areas. It is fairly obvious where so that is why I quicksaved first. Very rewarding chamber to play though.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 23/nov./2013 às 5:07
Thanks, Jade, for checking it out again.
Jade BGE 22/nov./2013 às 11:34
Nice looking test. You did a good job with the hammer. Still fun and challenging to play too.
Thank you for sharing the update :)
Bayram  [autor(a)] 22/nov./2013 às 4:12
Yes, I realize this, but I can't do any ninja stuff so it's pointless trying to block it. Ninjas will play my maps however they want, but as far as I can tell I don't get down-votes from ninjas who find they can bypass the puzzles with fancy jumps and such. Ninjas tend to be honorable people; it's newbies I get the down-votes from when they think the puzzles are too hard. I think of exploits (portal bumping, re-portalling, etc.) as just cheating and if people want to do that then fine, but they may as well just noclip to the exit because they're spoiling their own fun. Thanks again for your comments.
grapefruit 21/nov./2013 às 17:44
It is still possible but now would fall under the category of ninja/exploit. I can link you the demo I recorded on mediafire if you want.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 21/nov./2013 às 4:20
If you mean from the walls in which the lasers are mounted to the areas at either end, then fixing this was intentional. I widened the gaps. The railings are to reduce the chance of the player or the cube falling into the goo. Thanks for your comment.
grapefruit 20/nov./2013 às 18:16
Before you added in the railings, there was one easy strafe that could be made to beat the map in like 30 seconds. Nice job removing it, intentional or not.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 12/nov./2013 às 14:38
November 12 : Updated with Hammer to make it more visually interesting, easier in execution and less prone to accidental death. The puzzles are the same. The easter egg is much, much better, and if you didn't find it when you played, this would be the time to re-play. The player trap found by Mr.Finn.T has been fixed. I've lost the .p2c file, so all updates with now be with Hammer. That should force me to learn it!
Bayram  [autor(a)] 30/out./2013 às 7:00
Thanks for playing and the comment. This was my first map and I learned a lot from players, including how hard it is to eliminate unintended solutions in a complex map. Something else I learned (that is almost impossible to correct on this map) is that the overall structure of the puzzles may be glaringly obvious to me, the creator, but that doesn't mean it is even easy for players to figure out. I think I got a lot of down votes from people who quit after two minutes of frustration. Thanks for sticking it out.
Smokin'DIESEL 30/out./2013 às 4:53
this was a b*tch. took me a while. especially at the frikin start with the blue gel.only problem with the map is it's very chaotic at start and if i didnt know you (that you make logical maps) i would have quited in the first 2 mins. overall very good map
Bayram  [autor(a)] 18/out./2013 às 6:03
Thanks for playing, I will take a look at this problem.
MrFinnT 17/out./2013 às 12:14
there is a way to get yourself stuck, at the 2nd Beam (or 3rd room), you put a portal above it and jump in the beam. you get to the end and you will stay... well you fly there for an eternety
Bayram  [autor(a)] 29/set./2013 às 15:26
I ask about the easter egg specifically because you said "Had fun taking out those turrets". To make it easier to find the easter egg, ponder the hint in the description: "you will know when it is time to go looking for it".
kimist108 29/set./2013 às 10:13
Argh, I forgot to look. Will go back and look.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 29/set./2013 às 4:58
Thanks for playing and for the thumbs up! Did you find the easter egg?
kimist108 28/set./2013 às 17:15
WOW. That made me think about all of the tricks picked up along the way. I only played one map previously that did that with the frankencube. In the first room. Had fun taking out those turrets.
Xbeekeeper 18/set./2013 às 8:13
I worked it out.
Great Map
Xbeekeeper 18/set./2013 às 8:04
Have to come back to this one. Can't seem to kill the turret.
daloboy 16/jul./2013 às 8:34
For the hidden room: in the last room, when I'm on the top, looking through the hole in the black tiles, I can see a very little part of a white tile. That's how I got in.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 16/jul./2013 às 5:39
Thanks for playing and the thumbs up! Yes, that door is the way into the hidden room; you must have got in via the exit, although I can't see how. There's nothing I can do about that gap; it's a problem with PuzzleMaker. I don't think it's anything to worry about in this case; the glass is meant to make sure that the player remembers the blue gel but to prevent him from portaling directly from the first side-room into the second.

I will play your map.
daloboy 15/jul./2013 às 22:31
Fun map! A lot to do! Found the hidden room! Was this door suppose to be open in the hidden room? I noticed that here , there's a gap between the glass and floor, permitting a portal through!
Here's one of mine . Please test and comment. Thank you.
FrostGiant 4/mai./2013 às 6:25
Enjoyed playing this map:) Could u try my new map
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=142987052 .
Mr Bonkers 3/mai./2013 às 16:09
Nice :) Hardest part for me was figuring out the blue gel part at the start. I guess we all think differently!
Bayram  [autor(a)] 22/abr./2013 às 7:05
Thanks for playing and the thumbs up! The intended way back is in the hint video; if you open it in YouTube and view the full description you can click and skip ahead to that part.
I certainly do remember Quirkafleeg, which I enjoyed a lot in spite of failing to figure out one part myself.
Aardvark00 22/abr./2013 às 6:25
Delay in doing your chamber due to a holiday in Turkey, remember doing my Quirkafleeg? , but I've just completed and it's a resounding thumbs up. I was off to a slow start as I didn't know where to head for and didn't spot the neat gel trick at first. Then I made steady progress and got the exit open. Then a long pause until I figured out a way of getting back. My method was hard work (turning off one laser field at a time with the companion cube) so it might not have been the intended one, but it got me there eventually! Excellent chamber, enjoyed it a lot.
On the subject of the puzzles folder, having lost the contents of mine once when I re-installed Portal, I now make sure I keep a current backup of that folder on an external drive.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 19/abr./2013 às 10:22
OK, thanks. I did some research, but came to the wrong conclusion. So I think I have the .vmf file for this chamber, but the p2c file is lost. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it and I don't think I'm going to be able to make it much better, especially if I'm getting thumbs down for it being too hard. I won't make the same mistake again. On to the new chamber!
toncica 19/abr./2013 às 10:15
That's the wrong folder, the editor files are here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\portal 2\portal2\puzzles\"large number"\
The file names are numbers, you can identify which puzzle is which when you look at the images, for each p2c file there is a corresponding jpg picture file.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 18/abr./2013 às 13:03
I saved off the wrong folder, then. I saved ...\Portal 2\sdk_content\maps. On the other hand, the new ...\Portal 2\sdk_content\puzzles presently contains only one file, devtest.p2c, although I have created several more (unpublished) chambers.
toncica 18/abr./2013 às 11:41
The files for the editor are stored in the portal2 subfolder named "puzzles". If you installed the OS onto the same hard drive or partition then those files are lost.
Easy maps get more votes because more people complete them, every map gets some thumbs down though.
Bayram  [autor(a)] 18/abr./2013 às 11:32
toncica : Thanks for everything! Please don't trouble yourself about the trap as I've lost the ability to change this chamber. I re-installed the OS and I can't figure out how to get the files back into puzzlemaker. I've started work on a new chamber which is a bit easier as my guess is that I'm getting thumbs-down ratings from people who just think that this chamber is too hard.
toncica 18/abr./2013 às 9:17
Congrats to 25 votes. :)
I played the map again a few days ago and encountered a situation where I was trapped, that was after the panels close. I'll do another run soon to see what exactly happened as my memory is a bit fuzzy about that.
