Lovely, been hankering after a Japanese style pole weapon for a minuteand this looks sexy. Shame there are no spear animations in Skyrim or I'd be bugging you modders for a naginata.

I made these quite a while ago. I think they should balanced close to their steel equivalent, whether that is the axe or greatsword, I don't know. Greatsword animations don't fit with this weapon, but it's obviously not an axe. Whether or not it'd register as a greatsword in-game was something I couldn't find a definitive answer to. There is some papyrus scripting that I could use to make a weapon-type-detecting staff or spell. I may have to do that to settle this once and for all.

I'm not sure to be honest. Just strange my superior glass sword is more than 10 points stronger than the mods swords. Wanted to use them... assumed the lower damage was a lack of points in the axe skill.
not_ISD  [autor] 21 maja 2013 o 13:20
It uses axe animations, but I have the keyword weapontypegreatsword associated with the nagamaki in the Creation Kit. Have you confirmed that a feature related to greatswords does not work with these? I'll change the description if that is the case.
matt 19 maja 2013 o 18:07
You should say it's an axe so sword owners steer away from this mod.
tornear 25 kwietnia 2013 o 8:14

Darth Nihilus 8 kwietnia 2013 o 19:54
WOW, those are just beautifull....... I really like your work my friend. Hope you come out with more katana's and the like. I will subscribe to them as well. Keep em coming.
Drunken Ghost 21 stycznia 2013 o 3:47
could you make bleach's ichigo sword...not the bonkai
Dominus Nox 20 stycznia 2013 o 7:19
A version with longer blades would indeed be awesome.
Soft Girl Silb 19 stycznia 2013 o 2:27
Excellent work! Could you make a variant with a longer blade? I'm in desperate need of a cool 6ft sword.
SenSeiiPanDa 17 stycznia 2013 o 12:49

@ImsumDave ok, please tell me if you do :) great mod, but i like one handed swords:)
NinjaDicapitator 17 stycznia 2013 o 0:43
you should put green for full set of colours
not_ISD  [autor] 16 stycznia 2013 o 17:32
Forgot to answer that. No, I don't plan on making a one handed version at the moment.
minikane 16 stycznia 2013 o 12:49
is there a chance of a one handed verson?
Ruwach 16 stycznia 2013 o 9:20
Looks good, but in my opinion the blade is too short. Maybe it is more realistic that way, but i think it would look much better with a longer blade.
Potato 15 stycznia 2013 o 21:01
haha thanks and yes im really liking it. Good job.
not_ISD  [autor] 15 stycznia 2013 o 18:59
My internet went down the day after putting this up. Good to see everyone is liking it for the most part. No one's called it shit yet.

@^JonaBos and cidx1992
As for concerns about the proportions of the weapon, the reference I used is image shown on the wikipedia article for the nagamaki. I can't say I had heard of a nagamaki before someone suggested I make one for Skyrim, so if you didn't know what it was I don't blame you.

@Vensith
I don't plan to add anymore colour options at the moment. I can see why you'd want a specific colour to fit with some other item, like armor. Adding more colour options really becomes a headache. At some point I had to stop myself and limit the amount of colour variations I included. Also, with every extra colour I include, the file size goes up by about 12mb.

@Badfish
When it comes to lore, I think it's subjective whether it is lore-friendly or not. Like Luministus and Vault Boy said, there is the Blades katana. As for the colour, I don't know where you found a green one. If you really think, you can come up lore friendly sources of these colours.
Blue bioluminescent cave mushrooms for blue
Dragon's Tongue, iron heavy soils, and/or ground dreugh exoskeleton for orange/yellow
Deathbell, Gleamblossom and Poison Bloom for pink/purple

@1080p Gapefest [interesting name]
I should set the crafting perk requirement at daedric. I didn't at first because I made this for someone to include in their mod. They wanted the requirement to be steel. I normally balance the crafting perk requirement with the strength of a weapon, not with the material it's made from. I may change this in the future. This shouldn't effect anyone whose already crafted the weapon without having the daedric crafting perk.

@DMS187 and Deadpool
I just checked and in the creation kit I have the keyword for greatswords associated with these weapons, but the animations are the 2 handed axe animation. SO I believe the weapon type should be greatsword in-game. There is sparse information on this stuff, but I don't think the animation set should NOT effect the perk associations.
DMS187 15 stycznia 2013 o 16:11
Deadpool is right. This is obviously a 2handed sword.

Wikipedia: The nagamaki (Japanese: 長巻, literally "long wrapping") is a type of traditionally made Japanese sword (nihonto) with an extra long handle, used by the samurai class of feudal Japan. Don't get me wrong. I like the nagamaki and your weapons look pretty good, but you should change them. Because the nagamaki is a sword.
Potato 15 stycznia 2013 o 14:57
I saw tht u basically answered this question but i have to ask again...you said the animation is the same as the 2 handed axe... but is it technically considered an axe? i only ask cause i have my perks in 2handed swords not axe, and i want to know if i should put some into the axe perk.
minikane 15 stycznia 2013 o 14:53
could you make a one handed verson please?
SuperKnyte 15 stycznia 2013 o 12:27
So don't use the green one, asswipe. They already have katanas in Elder Scrolls lore, so use the grey one. You bring shame to the image of Vault Boy.
Kilerk Razorclaw 14 stycznia 2013 o 18:44
Some of us dont give a crap about your lore. I just wanna have fun and cool looking stuff! lol
Hex: Mommy Issues 14 stycznia 2013 o 18:02
YO
keyblademaster96 14 stycznia 2013 o 17:21
i hope this is good
Ash Williams 14 stycznia 2013 o 14:30
Badfish, the only reason it kills lore is because of you. Look at the Blades swords, they're katanas, this could easily be one of their weapons.
Rocker 90067 14 stycznia 2013 o 12:36
Dear ImsumDave, I love this mod... The blades themselves are designed nicely to the ery last detail and the hilt has a nice colour option to witch you choose. Great mod, keep up the work bud!
Wrangle 14 stycznia 2013 o 12:31
this kills the lore of skyrim? where in skyrim would you find a katana with bright neon green trims and handles? what the fuck is this anime garbage?
[]ReeO[] 14 stycznia 2013 o 11:11
Anychance could add White and Purple ones ?
Cidistic 13 stycznia 2013 o 21:46
It looks pretty lol, a lil long but still nice, I suppose if the blade was longer than it is it might look ok for me to wanna try, but I know I will end up uninstalling. I love the sheath though, beautiful. Keep up the good work.
Lozzle 13 stycznia 2013 o 14:36
I like the design a lot, but why is it considered studded if it has similar damage to daedric? Wouldn't that be a litlte op? Unless you can only make it when you have daedric smithing(but want a different design weapon of similar power) and still keep it in studded for clutter purposes?

Just a thought.
Elton Jonathan 13 stycznia 2013 o 13:26
i dont know if it is normal, but why is the hilt so long? it should be a bit shorter, would look better. still looks pretty good!
❤Belle❤ 13 stycznia 2013 o 9:04
A True Dai Katana, That Hilt is beautiful! ._.
Wolfgang Von Riva 13 stycznia 2013 o 1:13

VoidBeevee 10 stycznia 2013 o 5:14
My sword is bigger than yours Sob it is ill back away and cast a destruction spell that has a one hit kill tgm fucker you cant kill me
Tleno 9 stycznia 2013 o 10:29
No no, I mean, does the weapon count as battleaxe or sword (Well, acording to game data), but you answered that already.
not_ISD  [autor] 9 stycznia 2013 o 10:26
It's DPS is the same as daedric greatsword. The damage per hit is lower, but the speed of the swing is quicker. It uses the battleaxe animations, so the fequency of swing might be lower than that of the a greatsword. The DPS compared to the daedric battleaxe is 1 point lower.

As for the category, I'm not sure I know what you mean. If you mean crafting category, it's in the studded category. The reason why that is is briefly explained in the description.
Tleno 9 stycznia 2013 o 6:31
What is it's damage / weapon category may I ask?
