Is it possible that you could add integration with the weapon assembly mod to make the weapons custom colors??

Yes. I specifically prefix all item ids with stolte_ so that my mods won't conflict with others. However, this also means that the pulse rifles from Supper's Combat Overhaul will not use my pulse rifle sprites, and my pulse rifles will not use Supper's weapon mod system or alt abilities.

I don't think it would be the result of incompatibility with other mods. I noticed that bug once myself with another weapon mod of mine, but I didn't think this one had it as well. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I'll investigate and see if I can figure it out.

gotta say, I love pulse rifles, I have encountered a very unusual and somehow unrepeatable bug in which a pulse rifle was crashing my game whenever I hovered over it, I do have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapon names installed (which adds more weapon names to the namepool) but otherwise I don't know what was causing it, it hasn't happened again since
