Schwerer Panzerspähwagen (Sd.Kfz. 234/1)

A German armored car, designed as the successor of the Sd.Kfz. 231 8-rad, nicknamed the Puma, and having a host of improved features. Chief among those was a new turret, housing a 5cm gun originally developed for the cancelled VK 16.02 Leopard. Due to problems with the manufacture of the new turret, the initial versions of the vehicle featured a simplified Sd.Kfz. 222 turret, named Hängelafette 38.
The original planned turret entered production and service in the second series.
