Some basic essentials explained so you understand Cold Waters better.

Cold Waters is a highly immersive submarine warfare simulation. While it might not be fully realistic in some places, most of the "do" and "don't"s are based on mechanics you might not be familiar with and can confuse you while playing. Some mechanics even lead some people to think that the game somehow's "bugged" when in fact it's working perfectly fine and as it should. They just don't understand what's going on in the screen.

This guide links to a video that explains some of those mechanics, and hopefully after watching it you'll have a better understanding on how the game works, so you can use that knowledge to have more fun playing it on your own.

I might expand this guide later with more videos about more mechanics, tactics, evasion guides, etc. But hopefully just with this one it'll be enough to get you started.

With the entire active vs pasive torpedo thing I have found that active is best against subs and pasive is best against surface vesels. Purly because a surface vesel will make so much noice that the torpedo will have no problem finding the target when activated in pasive sonar mode even if they ar going to spot it anyway since there is no reason to give them a warning before they find it them self.
With subs it is the opposite being that they are so (relatively) quiet - especialy the diesel-electric subs. You are going to want active sonar to make sure the torpedo is going to find its' target

I have a lenovo computer running windows 10 but in the game the F keys, which are critical do not work. Is there a fix?

I have noticed that with the exception of firing into the wak/baffle of enemy ships, atcive torps usually cause more noisemaker spam on subs. Might be coincidence, might be because the vast majority of my sub kills are diesel electrics (i.e old). Good stuff though, thought I'd pitch my two cents in.

The sonar part and use of the moss were very helpful, thank you!
