Bows made from the unique redwood trees was unheard of, until now. This special timber is not naturally flexible, but thanks to generations of care and preparation it is possible to grow branches which can handle the stress. This process can take hundreds of years but thanks to this the bows are almost unbreakable once completed.

The red color was picked to match Windrunner's hair. While red is a pretty small aspect of this hero's color palette I feel it definitely has a place. The bow is held away from the body so there is no interference with the very important and dominant green color of the Windrunner.
