University

Description
This mod introduces the medieval universities to the game.
The historical medieval universities will be founded dynamically in the approximate historical period or be already present in the historical starts. The way these institutions behave is different based on the following groups: Catholics, Byzantines, Muslims, Jews, Indian and Himalayan, and Chinese.
In general, you can send your child to the corresponding university under the following conditions: they must be between 16 and 35 years of age, have at least 5 learning, not be a ruler, not be a graduate, and not have been previously tutored or expelled. Women can be sent to a university if your main title has at least agnatic-cognatic succession.
Once at the university, your child will spend 3-5 years there and receive traits or events for you to deal with based on what their personality traits are. Results can be very high tier traits only obtainable at the university, normal but generally good traits or bad traits that might even cost them their graduation.
The universities included are: Guozijian, Constantinople, Baghdad, Fes, Cairo, Bologna, Oxford, Salamanca, Padua, Cambridge, Paris, Orléans, Coimbra, Prague, Krakow, Vienna, Pécs, Heidelberg, Leipzig and Zadar.
They form with a MTTH of 20 years starting from: 859 Fes, 971 Cairo, 1068 Bologna, 1076 Oxford, 1114 Salamanca, 1130 Paris, 1270 Coimbra, 1327 Prague, 1344 Krakow, 1345 Vienna, 1347 Pécs, 1366 Heidelberg,1376 Zadar. On average they should have a historical formation, but variations are possible.
The universities of Padua, Cambridge,Orléans and Leipzig will form, if certain conditions are met, from the Universities of Bologna,Oxford,Paris and Prague.
There is a game rule that will give you the choice between a historical foundation and a foundation of all the universities with a 20-year MTTH starting from 1000AD or 900AD.
The universities of Padua, Cambridge, Orléans and Leipzig will form, if certain conditions are met, from the Universities of Bologna, Oxford, Paris and Prague.
Any catholic king or emperor without a local university but having at least 15 learning will be able to open access to a university of their choice to their realm. This will last for the lifetime of that ruler. This is also available to Muslim rulers with 10 learning.
The Islamic learning centers and the Pandidakterion of Constantinople have slightly different mechanics. These non-corporative centers mean that you need a good opinion from the owner of their home province to enter. These centers also have specialized traits that represent the different environment.
The Pandidakterion will fall if the Byzantine or Roman Empire does not own Constantinople but, If the City is recaptured, then an emperor can rebuild the Pandidakterion. A similar thing happens with the House of Wisdom that will fall if an Altaic or non-Muslim ruler controls Baghdad and can be rebuilt by a non-Altaic Muslim ruler.
To attend university in China you will either need Grace (if you own JD) or a lot of money, furthermore, China must be open to the outside world to accept students. It works much like other universities with the difference that there are different levels of graduate traits that provide all-round bonuses. However, if your child is particularly successful, they might ask if they can stay for a lucrative career in the Chinese bureaucracy. If you accept, you will be updated on their progress and might have some gifts sent back home.
For India and the Himalayas, you will need to find a suitably large monastery complex and seclude yourself within. This cannot be controlled by the player but appears as an event, so you have to decide if to take a tutor or wait some time for the temple school. You cannot send people to these centers but can only go yourself If you are a ruler. There, you will enter a 1-2-year period of seclusion where you will gain a trait like in the usual universities and also a philosophical trait to guide you.
The Jewish Talmudic Academies function largely like the Muslim centers with dedicated traits, any Jewish person can send their children here regardless of geographical position. Under certain conditions, this university will fall and can only be rebuilt by a Jewish ruler owning Baghdad.
You can also create your own university, since this did not happen in history, the requirements are quite stringent: you must be an emperor, have 5000 prestige and 1000 gold. This imperial university will also need the empire to keep existing because without imperial support it won't have any bottom up support, this is available for Christians, Muslims and other. The Christian and Muslim universities will work like their historical counterparts while the “other” will have a model similar to the Christian ones.
It is possible to sponsor a University, this means that it will send you promising students from time to time and gives you the possibility to exclude other rulers from using the Universities. The university might also send you a book from time to time.

If you find yourself without Universities or unable to attend, you may call a tutor that will educate you and other close members of your family for a higher fee. You may call either a diplomatic, military, administrative or philosophical tutor to help you with the respective fields
If you are feudal or a republic, you can hire up to four tutors (one per field) while if you are tribal you need to choose only one.
At the moment of tutoring you will be able to review the possible tutors and choose which to use based on the desired expertise. The result of a tutoring is much like that of a university but it depends both on your traits and those of the tutor and is also less likely to give you the best results.

400 historical books have been added to the mod. You can obtain these by being a university alumnus, sponsoring a university, conquest, and other smaller events. Their quality is based on their rarity. There are books for Muslims, Catholics, Byzantines, Chinese, northern Indians and southern Indians. Within these groups, you can find all the books but you will have a higher chance of gaining books from the culture of the university you chose. Christians and Muslim groups can also gain books from the ancient Greek and Latin past. The book quality is proportional to how rare they are with quality 3 being the rarest, Chinese books are similar but have a global +1 quality. Each book gives a bonus of 0.5 on its associated trait but the game sees that as +0.
You can choose at most 10 books to have active at one time, this way you can see if you want your character to improve skills they lack or enhance ones they already have.

The historical philosophical schools will start in their traditional cultures but, if a character of a certain philosophy stays long enough in a culture that does not have it, then the school will spread to the host culture.

Any bug reports and suggestions are appreciated, I hope you have fun!

It should be compatible with most mods since I'm just adding files and not modifying any. In particular, it works fine with CK2+

@Deadeye_7 It's best to use it at the start of a new game, it can get very buggy if you use it mid game
Deadeye_7 25 Mar @ 8:49pm
can this be used mid game?

@Sergeant Non Sweat It should be compatible with most mods since I'm just adding files and not modifying any. I haven't tried with HIP but it works with CK2+ so it shouldn't be an issue

Do the added book do anything?

Can't use direct download link, says I need to submit a permission request to access it. Is this intentional?

@BoomBler I'm not sure what exactly could be causing that since I have no real events at 881. The only thing I can think of is that the madrasa of Fes is being founded and it asks for a maghreb_arabic sunni character, and maybe some of the mods you have disable one or both of those characteristics
