Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom's Very Basics (XBOX Controller Edition)
От Zekkikun
So here you are, struggling to find a good online guide that will teach you the basics of the game.
You're probably only finding guides to play competitively. You probably haven't found a Steam guide
that helps quite well. You probably got your butt handed to you multiple times online. You probably even
got your butt kicked offline, against Medium or harder bots. No worries, that's why I'm here!
**********************************************************************************************************************************
To those who are using default keyboard controls, a manual for you guys are on the way, so hang on
tight!

Why I made this Guide
I would usually make fun of or ridicule fighting game players who spam or button-mash. However, that is not the case in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Compared to many fighting games, this is a very hard game (as if other fighting games except Smash Bros. weren't hard enough.) This is a game, like many professionals and advisors say, require precision. Lot's of precision. I see many people struggling with adapting to this game, and I want to see them get somewhere so that their $24.99 doesn't become a huge waste. Therefore, I'm here to save everyone the trouble and teach you how to play.... using the XBOX controller. The PC Keyboard will be next.
Basic Controls (Only Chapter)
Many people who started the game, probably you, used to be me, probably button mashed while playing. Who knows? You might still be button mashing right now! I'm going to stop that right now by listing the controls.

Movement
*************
LS (Left Stick) - Move: This is one of the two ways to make your character move in the game.
D-Pad - Move: This is the other out of the two ways to make your character move in the game.

The Attacks
****************
X - Light Attack: Not the heaviest nor strongest of attacks, but it is great regardless. Light attacks are important to start ground and air combos, making them extremely useful.
Y - Medium Attack: Medium attacks are the " anything goes " for the game. You can use it either as a follow-up to a light attack or use it as another combo starter. They are great under many situations!
B - Heavy Attack: This is a type of attack that requires good execution in order for it to be of any use if you want to start a combo with it. It's, however, a great follow-up to medium attacks. Heavy attacks can also be useful to start up an....
...A - Special Attack: Special Attacks can either be used to start off with an air combo or a great follow-up to ANY attack in order to start air-combo'ing. Keep in mind that using this button to start air combos as a followup depends on the range or hitbox of the character you are using. For example, if you are using Viewtiful Joe, it's probably better for you to use Special Attacks as an air combo startup than a follow-up from attacks. I'm not saying he can't follow up from attacks using this button, just not as easy as other characters.
X/Y/A/B (Pressed at the same time) - X-Factor: The X-Factor is crucial to this game. You can use the X-Factor to boost all 3 of your characters' stats and give you an advantage or a counter opportunity.
RT - L/M/H Attack: L/M/H attacks consist of one attack that combines the strength of Light, Medium, and Heavy attacks altogether.

The Assists
***************
LB - Pocket Support: Let's just say you need help from the character on the bottom of your current character's HUD. You can call him or her in to assist you.
LB (Hold) - Switch to Pocket Character: By holding the LB button, you can call the character under your current character's HP bar, aka the " third " or " pocket " character.
RB - Secondary Support: Same thing as Pocket Supports, except the character assisting you is on top of your health bar. They are known as " secondary " characters.
RB (Hold) - Switch to Secondary Character: I said enough.
LT - Both Assists

Hope the Guide Helped!

@Sam Undermail Assuming you're new to fighting games, you block by holding away from the direction your opponent is from you. To do motion inputs, I recommend using the D-Pad since it is more precise. Try to time the button press at the exact moment you finish the motion. The input window in this game is more strict than most recent fighting games so don't worry about missing the input.

Other than that, practice makes perfect, although I'm going to be frank, this isn't a very good game to start with as a beginner since this is one of the harder fighting games. Took me about 2 years of grinding to finally get decent and that's as a guy who has been playing fighting games since 2014.

I can’t do any of the inputs, do you have any tips for actually executing them. Oh and blocking to, I don’t know how to do it

@Avaro Locuaz you do the X factor by pressing X, Y, A, B (or L, M, H, S) all at the exact same time.

Sorry, im totally new to the game, what is 236? M H i know, medium and heavy hits right?
Does it have easy mode like Marvel vs capcom 1 ? Like when you press L2 on stick (left bumper for xbox i guess) you can use like ultimate right?

What is support command? Oh my, just treat me as a total newbie haha
Zekkikun  [автор] 10 окт. 2021 в 13:51
@GrandRiser Most ultimate commands are 236 and M + H, some are 214 like Doctor Doom's. Alpha beta gamma diffs are mainly the support commands
GrandRiser 10 окт. 2021 в 10:18
How do you use or switch ultimate i.e shinku hadouken with others? Whats the difference between alpha beta gamma?
