Axemen Unit & Copper Strategic Resource

Beskrivelse
This mods turns the existing Copper bonus resource into a strategic resource. It also adds the Axemen unit, which has +5 combat strenght versus melee units. It has a vulnerability of -10 combat strenght versus light and heavy cavalry. The Axemen requires Copper to be built.

When playing with Gathering Storm, the Axemen require 1 copper initially to be build. After that an upkeep of 1 copper per turn.

It also changes the upgrade path of the Warrior to the Axemen. Axemen upgrade to Musketmen. They provide an alternative way besides Swordsmen. This means there is no unit that upgrades to Swordsmen anymore.

Check here for more information on how to create a unit mod:

Mod is updated and working with Gathering Storm and versions before.

Sooo I was wondering if you can change the gold maintenance cost from 2 to 3?

And change the resource cost from 2 copper to 3 or 4 copper and 5 or 10 iron

Keep the 1 copper consumption the same

Also why am I getting +1 per copper under my border control? Then you get +2 for each mine on top. So that's +3 copper per turn for 1 copper. You can easily have more copper than you'd know what to do with and then it becomes obsolete

Otherwise I love the mod. I just feel like these changes would make it more balanced

@Doc_Furtado why do axemen need bonus against anti-cavalry? The point is that they have a weakness for being so powerful so early on

Very great mod, but you forget to put some bonus against anticavalry units, is possible to do it?

what about a mod which adds swordsmen but with bronze weapons so they unlock at bronze working and need copper

Kinda off topic, but I'd start by downloading a civ from Sukitract and going through those files to see how he build them.

Any idea on how to make a custom civ? I have no idea and the vids on youtube dont really have any good knowlege on making civs.

there is a minor bug that you should look into when you can. Axemen do not gain Alpine Training buff from Matterhorn. had two of them walk by it and they did not get it. i assume they do not gain Giant's Causaway Spear of Finnion buff either but idk. didnt test that.

I think I understand what you're trying to do in making copper more useful in-game. But it's ahistorical for a Bronze Age infantryman to be as strong as the Iron Age infantry that should replace it.

For an upgrade to swordsman to make sense, it would have to be nerfed a lot. Currently it's of the same strenght, same era.

It's a counter to the swordsman.

I really like that this gives a proper bronze age unit. However, the lack of an iron age upgrade and jumping to Musketman is weird. Is there any other intermediate infantry unit that could be placed as an upgrade? Or would you consider making an alternate mod that upgrades to Swordsman?
