Animated Synthetic Portraits

To celebrate the upcoming Utopia expansion, which will allow the player to turn his species into synthetic creatures, here you have the synthetic progression path.

SYNTHETIC DAWN UPDATE:

-If you own the Synthetic Dawn DLC this mod now only replaces the humanoid portraits. It otherwise works as usual.

*************************************

Contents

Three new portraits to make the synthetic variants more easily recognizable.
Robots still use the Vanilla portrait, the first image on top.
Droids use the second image, which comes in a few color variants.
Synths use the third image.
AI Consciousness uses the fourth.

Is this mod not enough for your needs? Do you wish non-humanoid species to use non-humanoid synths? Or do you wish to play as a Synthetic Empire from the start? Then try the Expanded version of this mod.

Compatibility

Unfortunately, after the Synthetic Dawn DLC I was forced to make this mod a little more intrusive. It now will be incompatible with any other mod that changes the following file:

00_robot_pops.txt

Remember, this, as well as other code, makes this mod INCOMPATIBLE with Animated Synthetic Portraits - Extended. The two mods are NOT meant to be used together. Either this one or the other, do NOT have both activated when starting your game.

Story
I'm writing a story about the factions/species I'm creating, you can find the first chapter here:

Doesn't work anymore

Honestly all portrait mods have this issue with Stellaris being oddly hostile to modding attempts.

Doesn't work.

How hard is it to just make the portraits? I have only once ever been able to get this mod or its previous versions to work, years ago. This mod absolutely refuses to work with almost every mod in existence because it insists on being infinitely more than just portraits.

I absolutely loathe this mod for the suffering it puts me and others through.

Wonderful work - I have included parts of your mod in mine but then got banned for not asking for permissions. Do you have any objections to your work being included in mine? I have already added you to the credits list.

Never been able to get this mod to work. Usually just doesn't work or causes terrible bugs like making all Synthetics/Robots unmoddable.
Obsidian Gold 28 jan, 2021 @ 18:43
Not achievement compatible.

For those who still play Stellaris 2.1: I created a new AI mod which is based on Glavius's work, but my mod goes much deeper and have a lot of unique features, leading to much better AI. And also I update it quite often, adding new stuff.

You can check proof of this and read detailed description here:

Thank you!

There could be any number of reasons. Nature, nurture, or that the internet brings out the worst in people. Your guess is as good as mine.
Despite being grumpy, I believe that I did in fact write something helpful, and not just criticize.

Anything else you wanna bring up, from under your bridge?
