Introduction
When the mod got released back in 2010 (?) with it's insistence on using the kingdoms executable that was perfectly fine. Even when Steam came on the scene with a different installation path the mod coped.
And then Steam merged the kingdoms executable into the medieval2 executable and all bets were off. Eventually copying and renaming the medieval2 executable[www.twcenter.net] took care of that, but by that time there was already an additional patch out plus the fairly essential 'Meloo Fix[www.twcenter.net]' - making the installation a tedious affair.
This one piece installer takes care of all that.

None of the mod's game files have been altered\edited. All 'rights' are with the original author(s).
Installing
This is one of my 'click through' installations, some instructions follow underneath:

.
.
  • · As long as your registry is fine the installer will find the correct installation path. If not, simply follow the instruction displayed in the installer.
  • · At the end of the installation a file verification will take place, allow it to finish, check for error messages (see picture at bottom), close it and finalize the installation.
  • · Also at the end will be a check if the kingdoms executable is present. If the file is absent then a renamed copy of the medieval2 executable will be created - the same principle as in my Steam Mod Fixer[www.twcenter.net]. The small BAT file will exit with one the these three messages:

wrong path - it means that Stainless Steel is not in the correct directory. This can only happen if the installation path was manually changed
success - the kingdoms executable has been created, the default for Steam users who do not use the Steam Mod Fix method
not needed - the default for disk users and Steam users you use the Steam Mod Fix method
  • · Steam users: no need to do anything extra - simply start the mod with it's desktop shortcuts once you have run the installer.

Only sieges, not field battles?
Then it will be related to the buildings. Try reducing their detail setting in options.

I am after doing a bit of further testing and have found that the crashes really seem to happen almost all the time with sieges now. But rest of the game seem to be doing fine

Hey mate. just downloaded those drivers too and still seem to get the unspecified error and/or fatal graphics errors. Seems to happen especially at sieges? Anything else I can try?

So far I have.
-Downloaded your version with meloo fix, no bad or missing files.
-Then I downloaded LAA and applied to the Kingdoms copy of Medieval2
-Then I downloaded both of the drivers that I linked below.
Gigantus  [author] 1 Aug @ 9:46pm
The other two links are drivers\DDL files. Legacy stuff. Just run their installers after downloading.

Yeah, I applied LAA to the Kingdoms's exe but I have still had these same crashes. Do you reckon I should try those other two links now? Do you just download them to your PC and they just do their thing or do you have link them with the game or something. Thanks for all your help so far.

Apply to both - medieval2 will get used when playing the original campaigns while kingdoms is used for nearly all mods.
The Irish Commissar 31 Jul @ 4:41pm
Oh so do you apply LAA to Medieval 2's exe or the new Kingdoms's one i created? I'll try the other options in the meantime.

LAA to the rescue? Could be a memory issue - apply it to the game's executable files (NOT Stainlss Steel's!!!)
