1. Rats and insects will attach to you
If you come across a mob of rats or insects they will jump on you and damage you. To counter this and remove them before they deal too much damage, furiously spin the left stick to make your character run around in a circle (or alternatively just jump, both work) this will knock those pests off of you, they will have a moment of recovering so hit them before they can attach to you again.
2. Don't hit barrels that are not monochromatic
Hitting barrels of different colors such as TNT which glows red exploding and setting your hero ablaze, a snowflake freezeing your hero, a green skull which of course poisons your hero, a witch's brew which explodes and anything hit by it (excluding you) is transformed into a other enemy type, and conduit boxes which explode and electrocute your hero.

Instead, use these to your advantage and attack them from affar via shield, arrow, or magic to deal massive damage to enemies. Also helpful for that "Special Move", which give you invulnerability for a attack moment.
3. Elemental enemies can be bad news
Refering to element damage above, enemies will have elemental properties around Depth 3 so be prepared, when you get hit by one you will take damage over time by the element the enemy had.

The ones that CAN cause a huge problem are the freeze enemies that will have a chance to freeze you on hit (or it will always, have not gone too in-depth as of yet) keeping you open for another attack but will ultimately set you free from being frozen after a successful second hit by the enemy.
4. Parry (perfect block)
Blocking in this game will not negate damage dealt but only halves it, but if you can press the block button as soon as the attack is landing you will get a 100% block and take no damage, leaving the enemy open for an attack before he begins agro again.
5. Throw your shield
You can throw your shield dealing damage to an enemy or hitting some sort of crate, but the shield will bounce off-screen and you must wait for it to return to you before you can throw it again, it's a good way to stagger an enemy for a second and come in quick to hopefully get in a few strikes.
6. Zombies will only die from a fire weapon
Don't waste your time hitting zombies with a regular weapon or your fists, they will come back. When you start equip your torch and hit something on fire to light it, then put it away only use it to open fire doors and chests, as well as killing zombies permanetly. The torch will never go out when not equipped.
7. Offerings to the Gods
When making an offering to the gods, you can either gamble all your money which after depth 3, 600 loot is not enough. I believe it's random the number but unless you have above 300 for depth 1 you will not get the gift.

The gift is a life, so if you die you can ressurect.

(TESTING)

Depth 1: 300 loot (not enough)
Depth 2: 500 loot
Depth 3: 1000 loot
Depth 4: ???
Depth 5: ??? (Behind elemental wall?)
Depth 6: 1500 loot
Depth 7: 2000 loot possibly (will try again on another character)
Depth 8: 2850 loot is not enough (3000?)

Depth 13: 5900 loot (seemed to be enough?)

From here on out we will assume it's in 500 intervals per depth
8. The pike
IMO, the pike is one of the best starting weapons, I would recommend using it as it's fast and it has just a smidge of reach.
9. The Torch
When you don't have fiery weapons you can use the torch(for example it need for Zombie killing or break fire-element chest/wall)

To set a torch on fire you just need to attack something burning(not a monster)

After that you get 20 seconds active using fiery element(you can switch on other weapon and you will not spend your seconds)
At the fireplace you can refresh timer by placing a fire(just attack extinguished fireplace) and taking it back on torch

Took me a while to realise that you can use the torch to open fire doors.
There's also the skill that shows the secret doors which is really useful.

You're missing the most important feature: the double jump, which makes it easier to avoid falling to your death. You'll still fall to your death, as many times as you manage to buy extra lives, leading an end to your run. It is inevitable.
