How to get Trotsky to lead the USSR
  1. First off you need to avoid the faction focus "The Great Purge" as that will avoid Trotsky for coming even if you did not kill anyone
  2. Wait a year or two until this pops out

  3. Then after the event "The Fourth International" finishes, something like this will pop up after 50-200 days. Select the option highlighted in red

  4. And after that you will see this

  5. Then you are pretty much done!
Please note i did this in one try in the version v1.3.2 (e13a)

Please note that there is another event where Trotsky hides in Brazil but gets killed. Sadly i do not have a picture for that one as i have not so far encountered it.

@MeekestGreek This was way before the Oak update, so that the dev's could have made any update to the Trotsky returns event :steamhappy:

i've only just got the 'trotsky returns' event and that was 1st January 1940, way over 200 days. I thought i had misclicked the event or something, but nope.

@NUK3D you can use the road to 56 mod. That one gives a focus tree for your game that allows Trotsky to return at the start of the game but you still have to deal with the civilwar :ussr_redstar:
