...which make it easier:
  • Bottom and top row puzzle pieces are "slim", they are only 65% as wide as other pieces, so they are easily spotted.
Normal piece → ← Edge piece

  • The pieces with one or three in/outs are guaranteed to be on one of the edge. Not all edge pieces are 1/3 bits, but all 1/3 bits are edges. (discovered by borandi. Thanks! )

  • Make sure to sort the pieces into the trays. Well worth the time spent doing so. (Thanks ladynadiad)

Yellow and White/Silver pieces are a good start, as there are only few of them in different shades.

Enjoy!

I got another tip for you: As well as Yellow and White/Silver pieces are a good start, I suggest having a look onto the dark brown (but just dark brown) ones :B1:

That's some good grasp! I didn't notice this while puzzling.
True.
Also: two-edged pieces in the puzzle always go next to another but inverted-sided two-edged piece.
Like: |_ always goes next to a ¯¯| edge-piece.

Don't know how to say it any better.
I go and add yours, if you dont mind!

Totally! You're right. This is a puzzle that made me feel that it really makes a huge difference when I sort them first. Also: added your Tipp... ; )
