Mondragón M1908

A selective fire rifle designed by the Mexican general Manuel Mondragón initially as a straight-pull bolt action rifle, later converted into a semi-automatic rifle via the installation of a switch that controlled gas output to the bolt, allowing the rifle to switch between bolt-action and semi-automatic.
Due to it's advanced design it could not be produced in Mexico, and as such was outsourced to SIG. However, the expensive cost of the rifle, and the political instability in Mexico caused the Mexican government to cancel out their 4000 unit order, only buying 400 in the end. The remaining 3600 rifles were sold to Germany, where they were found unsuitable to infantry usage due to trench conditions. As a result, only the Imperial German Air Force used the rifle.
