MINI STRIDER!

Yes, it's the Episode Two Mini Strider, the beta form of the Hunter as seen in the 2006 trailer!

The Mini Strider is the missing link between Striders and Hunters. For what it lacks in heavy hull plating and the capabilities to be a walking weapon of mass destruction, the Mini Strider possesses amazing strength, prowess in groups, excellent pack communication, tough anti-flak armor, and blinding agility, similar to the Hunter.

Unlike the Hunter, however the Mini Strider did not possess a long-range comms antenna, feelers, or quick-extendending impalers. Instead, it only had it's claws and dual cannons. In addition, rather than working as it's eyes and flechette launchers, the dual cannons worked as pulse rifles, with the sides of it's 'face' containing two groups of dual compound eyes, rather than scarred and disfigured flesh.

This addon contains -

Beta animations, the animation from the Ep1 Mossman transmission, and more! (Requires Easy Animation Tool)
Full Sub Material tool compatibility! (Requires Sub Material Tool, obviously.)
A complete lack of any NPCs!
And NO Half-Life 2: Episode Two requirements!

Also, it'll crash the game if you attempt to use model manipulator to make it replace the Hunter without disabling AI. (Thanks, BlackSnow.)

But otherwise it's all good and posable! But not as flexy as the Hunter, so keep that in mind.

"Last year I was commissioned privately to complete my Jalopy remake, in exchange I was offered the Episode 2 Beta for my collection.

I asked for proof of it, and the original Jalopy material is what I was sent.

I completed the commission, but unfortunately, when I asked for what I was promised in exchange, I was jerked around and given excuse after excuse for about a year until now, when I explained that if I did not receive the beta that the deal was off. While being strung around, I was given the Ministrider models and .tga files.

I have not received any correspondence, and as such I am releasing what I have publicly, and telling everyone that YES, A full-on Beta version of Half-Life 2 Episode Two (and, possibly, Episode One) exists, and it is in the hands of at least two people who browse Valve Cut Content, and possibly many more threads. It is being traded privately and, as per usual, the real fans of this content are being left out of the loop."

there is no beta hunter reskin i like, and im sad that this is not one because this is good. :<

still easily my favourite combine enemy, even if they did not make an appearance in the base game.

(The mini Strider was a cut enemy originally made as the og Hunter. However it made appearances in some early trailers, and in the scene when Mossman gets attacked by combine in Episode 1, this was later replaced with Hunters. In the Episode 1 mod files, you can find the og mini Strider, however it has no textures and is in a sort of Deep Blue colour.
They also lack the mantis claws and exhaust pipe of the Hunter) :]
