The point of this guide is to cover all possible bugs across different PC configurations, there is no need to apply everything right away.

Other options:
Go to graphics options (in-game), there is Refresh option - choose something else than "default" (highest possible value depends on your monitor) and confirm.
Alternatives:
Check link 1, (download configurator and enable vsync, details in the guide), also, there is link 2 with graphics enhancements patch and alternative method which enables vsync. That should be enough to solve this problem, if not, check point 10 (notes) for other ideas.

Crashes - point 4 in this guide

Default language set to German: right click on The I of Dragon in your steam library, properties, language (EN, DE, PL, CZ, HU).



Pick what you need:
1-5 fixes; 2,6-8 mods; 9 bonus; 10 notes.
1-vsync, intro and key bindings fix, 2-better graphics, 3 music fix , 4 crashes/access violation fix, 5 shadows fix (minor bug), 6 alternative soundtracks, 7 mod, 8 RU language.

03 2017 Key bindings (Windows) and background music fixed by official patch, however, if you have CD version, not steam version, those fixes may be needed, if you want to run this game on newer pc (win7 era and above).

- about IoTD configurator - easy tool if you want to enable vsync (fixes bug with turning) or increase view distance (150% or 200% recommended, you will see almost entire map, without that fog). If you need, change language via steam (right click on game in your library, properties, language), not through configurator,
- rare bug - configurator not starting - check readme in configurator archive,
- about removing intro - may not be needed, change resolution to correct one. Open regedit, find line HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Primal\Dragon\Graphics and make sure that ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth match your monitor resolution (link 4), if not, modify them (by double click or right click). 2. FIX/MOD http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=486972895 - better graphics. Read carefully, if you want to install this patch succesfully. Execute .reg file if you have win 7 64 bit, or open regedit and make changes manually.

Check this if you experience crashes/access violation error/direct d3d error:
Basically, you need compatibility mode with something older than win 7 (win xp sp3, vista, find your game folder, for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The I of the Dragon, right click TheIofDragon.exe, properties, compatibility tab) and proper resolution: Open regedit, find line HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Primal\Dragon\Graphics and make sure that ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth match your monitor resolution, if not, modify them (by double click or right click).. That should be everything, but, if you have more problems with d3d error or graphics, install directx9.0c (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109).

10. Notes:

- pause before going to world map, if you want to avoid crashes on some configurations (no crash at first attempt - pausing not needed, probably),
- if you have problem with saving, run game with administrator mode - advice from other old games (find The I of Dragon game folder, right click on TheIofDragon.exe, compatibility tab, run as administrator),
- windows XP missing sound bug (very rare): Start, Run... , dxdiag, sound, disable sound acceleration (Hardware Sound Acceleration Level, set slider to no acceleration).

Another ideas for fixing bug with turning:
- if turning with keyboard is not possible, even with vsync on, try windowed mode (open regedit, find this line: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Primal\Dragon\Graphics
double click on windowed and modify value from 0 to 1, ok),
- instead of registry entry/iotd configurator option, force vsync via profile for game in amd crimson/catalyst control center or geforce experience,
- another idea: speed up game - source: tsunami_120681 post in the comments under first linked guide (standard speed: 100%, it's possible to set 150% or 200%. Push "-" or "+" buttons during game, also, there is slider for this in the interface). Besides, speeding up game to 150% should give you more insteresting gameplay,
- another option: limit max fps:

Generally, game runs too fast on new configurations, you need something to cap your maximum amount of frames per second (like vsync).
Other options: dgvoodoo from fix 5 or using recording software with option for capping game's fps (although running game with windowed mode may be needed).
