1-Stats
The most important thing about a pyromancer are Faith and Inteligence, that means, pyromancies will scale in both stats with C/C (because the pyro flames), but i discovered that pyros scale more with Faith than Inteligence, (Fth x1.4 / Int x1.0) and pyros require Int investment.

The softcaps are in 35/35 and hardcaps in 45/45, but pyromancies need A LOT of attunement slots, because the most useful pyromancies requieres 2 slots.

Dexterity can also be a good stat to upgrade, dexterity means more casting speed (it caps at 15 dex with Sage's Ring +2) so there's a new question, what do you prefer? More Stats investment or more Ring investment?

Pyromancers are short range casters so they can also use melee

2-Builds
Pyromancers have so many tipes of builds, your starting class will be, obviously, the pyromancer class
Here i leave the most efficent builds

-Full Pyro

SL: 125
Vig:30
Att:40
End:28
Vit:8
Str:12
Dex:9
Int:40
Fth:40
Lck7

+You'll be pure caster, you will get crazy damage with pyros and you can spam them and get a lot of slots
-Melee Pyro
SL:125

Vig:35
Att:20
End:30
Vit:8
Str:16
Dex:40
Int:28
Fth:30
Lck:7

+You can use chaos blade and a lot of Dex weapons, you'll deal less fire damage but its pretty decent, i recommend Carthus Flame Arc with katanas or curved swords

-Classic Pyromancer
SL:125

Vig:35
Att:20
End:35
Vit:18
Str:40
Dex:9
Int:25
Fth:25
Lck:7

+With this build you can use Demon's fist, Demon Greataxe, Lorian Greatsword and Old Demon king Greathammer, the fire hard caps are in 25/25, you can reduce to 20/20 and invest in End or Str, Fire Clutch Ring and Favor Ring are highly recomended
-Mix Pyro

SL:125

Vig:30
Att:30
End:25
Vit:8
Str:16
Dex:18
Int:40
Fth:40
Lck:7

+With this build you can hit so hard with spells and some good weapons like Great Corvian Scythe, Longsword and Witch's Locks
3-Spells
Spells are the main "weapon" for casters, but the majority of spells are short range or supported by melee weapons.

Pyromancies deal fire damage, but there are 3 pyromancies that deal dark damage, so switching damage types is always a good idea against shields

Remember, Chaos always means better

-Short Range

1.Flame whip

This spell is so underrated, but believe me, this thing is a MONSTER!
If you hit with the full flame, you'll reach the highest damage per spell for pyros, but its so easy to dodge this spell.

(For spell tactics see point 5)

2.Great Combustion and Dark Flame

These spells have small range, but they do massive damage and they are also great for spamming!

Great Combustion does Fire Damage and Dark Flame does Dark Damage

3.Fire Surge

This spell SUCKS! but why?

This spell is so fast, hard to punish and catch rolls easily! Use it with moderation, deals small damage but its the best thing against Denial users or for finishing someone.

4.Sacred Flame

Remember Gwyn grabbing your face and finishing you? Now, YOU CAN DO THAT

This spell is BADASS, does high amounts of fire damage and the hit box is pretty nice for a grabbing move.

This spell is so easy to punish and roll, but works nice against panic rollers, you cant hit with that after a parry or guardbreak, the casting time is so slow to do that. Unfortunetly this spell doesnt have hyperarmor, so Iron Flesh works perfectly with this.

5.Seething Chaos

throws a mine in mid range (direct impact causes medium fire damage and it wont explode), after some seconds, it explodes causing extreme fire damage in a mid range (like a WotG)

but it's too predictable and slow, so close space is the way to go, also this spell is amazing in brawls and team fights

6.Flame Fan

Summons a big fire fan in melee range, the second hit causes a counter attack, its slow but its pretty ok for roll catches

basically is like a farron flashsword but more slower, stronger and leaves a fire trail during swingging animations

-Medium Range

1. Fire Orb, Black Fire Orb and Chaos Fire Orb

These spells are the classic pyro spell. You create a Fire Ball in your hands and then you throw it, low range, medium casting time and great damage, so simple spells.

But, they can be monsters if you learn the Free-Aim technique, specially with the Chaos Fire Orb.

*Fire Orb creates a big fire ball with fire damage (logic works)

*Dark Fire Orb does the same thing but with dark damage

*Great Chaos Fire Orb deals INSANE fire damage and creates a lava pool where it hits, doing moderate fire damage too

3.Chaos Storm

This spell isnt so great that DS1 and 2 versions, but works nice, i dont recomend Fire Tempest and Fire Storm because the damage is really bad, even in this spell.

Creates multiple fire pilars around the caster, dealing fire damage and creating massive lava pools, the victims of this spell are pushed to the air, stunned a couple of seconds

-Long Range

1.Floating Chaos

Well, this spell isnt so crazy like the Demon Clerics version, but, it works nice.

This spell sucks if you cast it alone, so the best thing to do is casting with another spell.
(see point 5)

Creates a Medium floating fire ball that shots 3 small fire balls quickly, dealing moderate fire damage

2.Chaos Bed Vestiges

This is the second most damaging spell, uses 2 slots, creates a "sun" and throws it to long distances, doing massive fire damage and an explosion, this spell is very predictable, also if you lock on your opponents it will have a shorter range, so free aim is recomended.

In summary, this spell has high damage, speed and reach.

3.Black Serpent

Creates a black flame trail, dealing medium dark damage and a great stun. This spell has an amazing homing hability and can also travel across barriers and obstacles, has a quick casting speed.

This spell isnt for damaging, thats for punish panic rollers and catch people. This spell is a support spell (like floating chaos) for another spell or weapon.
Great for finish a foe or for spamming.
(Parting Flame affects this spell only at the beginning of the trail)

4-Equipment

Your primary tool will be the Pyromancy Flame, you can choose between 4 catalysts

-Pyromancy Flame: best damage output and scaling

-Pyromancer Parting Flame: reduced damage but better damage on close distances (on PvE can regen estus if you kill enough enemies)

-White Hair Talisman: Low damage and low scaling, you can cast miracles and pyromancies with this talisman, but it's not recommended, it lacks of poise, but you can combo pyros into miracles (I guess lol)

-Demon Scar: Scimitar that can cast pyromancies but it has lower damage than the Pyromancy Flame

For equipment you'll need:

-Choice armor, armor isnt very important for pyromancer for the lack of hyperarmor, just put your favourite set (fast roll is highly recommended)

-Rings: Obviously Fire Witch Ring and Great Swamp Ring
+Choice rings: Darkmoon ring (2 free slots)
+Chloranthy ring: Better stamina regen
+ Sage Ring: better cast speed (only for pure pyromancers, if you invest in Dex, this ring is useless)

*Clutch rings are useless in PvP, but they are highly recommended in PvE
-Raw infussion for weapons you want to buff with some spell
-Chaos/Dark Infussions to deal good damage without any buff thanks to the scalings*

*after some researchs by me and the community, we confirm that dark infussion is better for normal attacks (R1s, R2s, weapon arts, running and rolling attacks) and the chaos infussion is better for critical damage (parry, backstab and guardbreak)

-Fire/Deep infussions for low level builds

-Weapons:
+Chaos Longsword: high DPS and good scaling/moveset, perfect for offensive pyromancers

+Chaos Broadsword: higher DPS than Chaos Longsword but it's moveset and range are inferior

+Chaos Lothric Knight Straight Sword: higher range than the other 2 SS, poke R2s and bonus critical damage (110), but it has less damage

+Chaos Harpe: medium DPS, quick moveset, piercing attacks and quickstep weapon art

+Witch's Locks: You'll need a bit of investment in dex, but its worthy, this weapon has big range, damage and moveset, perfect for deffensive pyromances

+Chaos Thrall Axe: good and very quick moveset, high DPS and evasive weapon art, this weapon can be offensive and also deffensive, it also catch rolls easily

+Chaos Astora Greatsword: this weapon hits hard, has low weight, thrust attacks and hyperarmor, so a medium armor is highly recommended for this weapon

+Chaos Corvian Scythe: Decent Range, Shield piercing, good damage/moveset and Weapon Art gives you hyperarmor and massive damage, it requires a bit of investment in Str and Dex (beware self bleed and put some Bloodred Moss Clump)

+Chaos winged spear: not recommended, it has thrust damage and good deffensive range, but damage is low

+Onyx Blade: well, thats more a hexer weapon than a pyromancer weapon but both classes are the "same", it has VERY NICE range, hyperarmor, thrust attacks, self-buff weapon art and good damage. It requires a bit of investment in Str, totally worth (Dark Clutch Ring and Fire Clutch Ring increase the damage, it deals Physic, Dark and a minimal Fire Damage)

+Demon Greataxe, Greathammer, Fists and Lorian GS: only for melee pyromancers with 25/25 in fth and int, not full pyromancer weapons, only for hybrid builds

+Chaos Uchigatana: those weapons dont have too much damage/scaling but work well, they have very useful moves and low stamina consumption and low investments, you can use Carthus Flame Arch for better damage

+Chaos Scimitar: good damage, great and fast moveset and low weight (buffed on the last patches)

+Chaos Dagger: this is a must weapon, due to recent patches, this weapon has become meta, it almost one shots SL120 builds even with a backstab with hornet ring and it destroys low SL's

+Murky Hand Scythe: A dagger with piercing properties, low weight, innate dark damage, quickstep weapon art, good dark scaling and damage and can be buffed and infused
(dark infusion, dark weapon and dark clutch ring are highly recommended)
but it lacks of extra critical damage

+Chaos Claymore: it has one of the best scaling in the greatsword weapon class, good damage, range, moveset and provides hyperarmor on 2H attacks

+Chaos Greatsword: It was buffed on recent patches, this infussion gives A/A scaling, this greatsword has amazing hyperarmor and massive damage. This Ultra Greatsword is unique because it's the only UGS that the 2nd R1 (if it's your first attack to connect the opponent) can be followed with the 3rd R1 on the stun, so it's a great advantage

+Dark/Deep Carthus Shotel/Carthus Curved Sword/Shotel: for dealing damage against shield turtles

+Demon Scar: People say this weapon is trash... ok, it doesnt deal insane damage, but thats not the point of this weapon, what it makes this weapon amazing is :
-the short scimitar moveset
-the 110 extra critical damage
-the pure fire damage (fire clutch ring works in this weapon)
-the low weight
-its a catalyst, thanks to this weapon you can chain r1's into spells even more faster
thats the magic of the Demon Scar!

*I use Chaos infussion for cosplay, you can also use Dark Infussion, this infussion deals more damage against shields and armors in general

-Shields

+Grass Crest Shield*: with this shield you'll get the stamina bonus regen and you'll get a free ring bonus, very useful

+Black Knight Shield: very high stability and defences and low str investment

+Leather Shield*: low weight and so many Parry Frames

*If you dont use a shield for blocking attacks Blessed/Simple Gem Infussion is highly recommended

-Items: 4 Ashen Estus is enough for a invassion, Green Blossom (you wont need Grass Crest Shield and Choranthy Ring), Duel Charms (to reduce the enemy's DPS and Bloodred Bloss Clump (against bleed builds or while using Corvian Scythe)

5-Techniques and Combos
If you want to be a efficent pyromancer you'll need to learn the art of free aiming, an ancient technique used by DS1 pyromancers and tryhard monsters

but, whats free aim?

Free aim is bassically Lock off your opponents, if you lock on, your spells will have VERY SHORT range and they will be very predictable

Free aiming is specially easy for Keyboard users (thanks mouse)

-Chaos Fire Orb technique is the most famous and easy to do, bassically you'll need to predict the foe's rolls, if he is rolling to you, then shot your ball near your feets, if the enemy is rolling to the right, then shot the ball to the right before he rolls, it also works with Chaos Vestiges and Dark Orb, but those spells dont have the lava pool.

-Fire Surge is prefect to "transform" a deffensive enemy player into a offensive player, so use short range or fast weapons. Use fire surge constantly and then switch to the longsword or Dark Flame and spam, if they do deffensive playstyle again, then use fire surge again

-Fire Whip is perfect if you do free aiming, specially in ganks, give your back to your opponent and when you cast it LOCK HIM in the exact moment and he will be hit by the spell, Surprise factor is very important with this spell.

-Black Serpent is the best spell against panic rolls, you can cast it and when they aproach you use black flame and when they roll away use Chaos Vestiges or another Black Serpent, this spell fits with Floating Chaos for a better roll catch.

-Sacred Flame is a very good spell but its hard to land it. This spell can be viable with Witch's Locks, use a normal R1 with the whip and then cast sacred flame. You can also use Iron Flesh to get poise and grab them, but be carefull with the damage and lighting, you can use some heavy armor pieces and cast Iron Flesh, then use Thrall Axe WA and use the spell.

-Black Flame/Great Combustion are spam spells that deal massive damage, Pyromancer's Parting Flame is highly recommended, Black Flame is one of the best guardbreaker spells in the game, specially with Parting Flame. You can also try R1 with Longsword+Black Flame, 2 hit confirmed and massive damage

-Chaos Storm is only usefull in close places, you can also cast it while camping behind a wall to surpise attack

-Chaos Bed Vestiges This spell is very predictable, but it has a quick casting speed so use it while they are attacking, when you hit someone with Black Serpent, Floating Chaos or after a combo (they will panic roll)
Also you can predict their rolls and punish their heals.
The end
Well guys, thats all

Good Luck Pyromancers

Now, show them the fu***** flame

May the Chaos guide thee

Nice guide. I tend to do all-around builds so I can't use the super-high level magic- but the Pyro spells are great for someone that doesn't feel like putting 60 points into Int or Faith. All those saved stat points are great for making a non-min-max versatile build.

Thank you this really helps !

Actually, I am a scrub. Nothing to be ashamed of in modern world.
Btw, didn't get your point about miracles. Actually, many bosses are vulnerable to lightning, so sunlight spear is an awesome spell. And you can do boss-oneshot build with it(not reachable with pyro sadly)

Because Dark Sword is for scrubs, are you a scrub? Also imagine unironically coming with a miracle build for dark souls 3 OMEGALUL.

Hi! Thank you for an informative guide! I am a big pyro fan and love to replay the game with pyro builds. But, I have one question: why haven't you mentioned Chaos Dark Sword in Equipment section? It can be compared to longsword and broadsword. Yes, it does deal a little less damage(something around 10 dmg comparing to chaos longsword at +10 at any faith/int stats), but has a great range and a very quick and comfortable moveset for finishing off enemies who survived at 1 hp.

Also, I wanted to share my discovery about sl 125+ progress. If you continue to level up from your mix pyro build, investing only in faith(maxing up to something like 60-75), you can come to an awesome pyro/miracles build, giving you chance to cover vulnerabilities of all bosses and enemies(very useful for ng+ and further) including fire, dark, lightning(sunlight spear), bleed(Dorhys' Gnawing)

Hey man this is AMAZING just one question, for the melee build, what order should I level up?

nice guide, going to make a mix pyro, but not sure how to start putting the points. Should I leave INT and FTH to invest last and start as melle?
