.308/Shotgun Ammo/Gun Spawns/Bullet Drop UPDATED 1 MAY 2017
By baetzor
Best 308 ammunition/Shotgun ammunitions/gun spawns as of 27 December 2016

A simple guide for those players who want learn about bullet drop for JS, learn about where to loot 308 ammo, shotgun ammo, rifles and shotguns instead of having to spend hours crafting. This guide is aimed at players who wish to get geared quickly and enjoy PVP action without having to salvage pistol ammunition, farm metal shard and then convert refined gunpowder into .308 and shotgun ammo which now crafting shotgun is unrealistic and not feasble due to how expensive the materials are. If this is the type of player you are then this is a guide is for you however this guide can also benefit pistol ammunition salvagers who are looking for guns to engage in some PEW PEW!

Thanks to Paul Cathcart for helping!

Enjoy!

About Me:
Who am I?

Hey guys,

Before I start the guide I will just give a quick brief description of who I am and the reason behind me writing this guide.

My name is Nick and I am an experienced H1Z1:JS player who plays on Adelaide (AU). I have over 2.4k hours and my specialities in H1Z1:JS is looting for ammunition, sugar and fertilizer in particular and PVP combat.

I am writing this guide to inform new players and returning players about the new spawns since the last wipe which occured six days ago. Within this six day period I currently have 690 .308 rifle rounds, 250 shotgun, have collected over 1400 pistol bullets, 700 sugar and 155 fertilzer. This guide will express to you best spawns for ammunition and sugar in PV, Cranberry, Hemmingsway, Eastwood, Bubba's Truckstop and the Dam. Hope you guys enjoy this guide and are able to take a few things away.

Heads up, this is my first attempt at a guide. By no means do I think this is the best loot guide and it may not be for everyone but the spawns mentioned below is what I use and can help players struggling to find lots of ammunition, sugar and fertilzer

Enjoy!
My Top 3 Consistent .308 Ammunition Spawns:

My Top 3 .308 Ammunition Spawns

As you are all aware, this latest updated (21 December 2016) has seen the rate of pistol ammo increase tenfold. Below are my top 3 .308 ammunition spawns for those players who do not wish to sit around for countless minutes or even hours scrapping for metal shard and salvaging there bullets. I have tested these spawns out on Low/Medium/High populated servers and these spawns have been consistent on all three.

P.S - These are in no particular order.

Wake Hills - Inside the supermarket on the shelves and in the back room where all the boxes are. When looting the supermarket, you must ensure you break all of the boxes as it is merely not enough to proxy these items as viewing loot in proximity is often bugged. After you loot the supermarket then move to the gas station and particularly keep an eye out for .308 ammunition on the tables inside and outside the gas station. The mechanics is also a good place to look for .308 rounds particularly on the floor near the door in the garage and on the shelves. 308' sometimes spawns in the houses at Wake Hills but 90% of the time it is pistol ammo. I wouldn't waste my time checking the houses for .308 ammunition spawns.

Dartmouth - A very underrated spot that is often not looted. .308 ammunition usually can be found in bundles in both of the diners which are located on West Greenhorn Rd. .308 ammunition can generally be found on the tables outside of the diners as well as the counter in front of the two fridges and underneath the boxes in the storage room. I don't recommend looting the three houses (1 of which is not lootable) for .308 ammunition.

Hemingsway Truck Stop - Hemingsway Truck Stop is a hidden gem with .308 ammunition spawning every 10-15 minutes. This is a great little spot especially for fresh spawns who want to gear up before entering the outskirts of PV. .308 rounds can be found on the shelves of the two gas stations as well as underneath the boxes in the back of each gas stations. .308 rounds can also be found outside of the diner on the table as well as on the counter in the diner infront of the two fridger. Generally there isn't much point to looting .308 rounds in the motel rooms as I generally only find one decent spawn there which is a .308 rifle and the rest of the time glasses, t-shirts, masks and gloves.

Why I didn't include PV, Cranberry or Ranchito Taquito?

The main reasons why I didn't include the three (3) major cities is because of the following reasons:

1 - They are consistently being looted which in theory will allow you to be able to loot far less .308 rounds than in the places listed above.

2 - These cities are generally better for looting pistol bullets and locker keys which will allow you to salvage these bullets but can often be difficult to exit these major cities without being shot by large groups.

3 - Spawns that used to be good in PV i.e at the top of sniper tower, on the second floor office of Romeros in PV, the Church in Ranchito, the mansion in the south east of the city and the service station behind Romeros in Ranchito aren't good reliable spawns anymore and I find that as stated before cities are better for players who salvage pistol rounds into .308 rounds, not for players looking to get geared quickly and players who don't tend to horde as much ammunition.

The next chapter of my guide will now feature my top 5 hunting rifle spawn regions!
My Top 3 .308 Rifle Spawns:

My Top 3 .308 Ammunition Spawns

A lot of people are not having trouble finding ammunition anymore due to the new patch however many people are struggling to find .308 rifles. Below are my top 3 .308 rifle spawns. Enjoy!

Bubba's Truck Stop - Bubba's Truck Stop is one of my favourite spawns and areas on the map due to its intense environment and constant flurry of gun fights and action. At Bubba's there are 2 reliable and consistent .308 rifle spawns. 1) In the single white house parallel to the Big Warehouse. This single white house on the north western side of Bubba's has a rifle loot spawn on the Kitchen sink, on the small circular dining table, in the bedroom or in the bathroom on the sink. 2) The motel often has 2-3 rooms which spawn rifles. Often you can find on one run more than one .308 rifle. Like the single white house, the most common spawns are on the dining table, in the bathroom and on the kitchen sink. Definitely one of my favourite spawns on the map.

Hemingsway Truck Stop - Hemingsway is a great place to loot for .308 rifles. There are three (3) spawns in Hemingsway:

1) In the room to the right of the motel room which does not have any furniture. This room generally spawns .308 rifles in the small circular dining table or on the kitchen sink.

2) In the motel room two rooms to the right of the room without furniture. Again like the room next door to the left this room spawns .308 rifles on the dining room, kitchen sink and in the bathroom.

3) On one of the two circular dining tables out the front of the diner next to the motel rooms. It only EVER spawns on the dining tables outside of the diner not inside.

Dartmouth Residentials & The Residentials To The East in between Dartmouth and De Soto's - This is a great spot that is not looted often. .308 rifles in both of these residential areas are most commonly found in the small one story white cottage houses on the dining tables and in the bathrooms in particular. The two story houses have a few spawns but aren't as reliable and consistent as the one story white cottage houses. Don't be surprised if you manage to find multiple .308 rifles in one run.

Before last wipe I would have undoubtedly recommended Opfer Wilderness Camp and Ranchito in particular but my experience in this wipe has shown me that many loot spawns in previous wipes just don't spawn .308 rifles anymore. PV residentials may also be another option but I am still not sold on it.
My Top 3 Consistent 12 Gauge Ammunition Spawns:

My Top 3 Shotgun Ammunition Spawns:

Of course, one of the best ways if not the best method to build up your 12 gauge ammunition count is to loot the three (3) major cities in the office buildings, gas stations and supermarkets for lockers. The amount of locker keys available that spawn every 10-15 minutes is just ridiculous. I RECOMMEND looting every filing cabinet around the map for locker keys it is a great way to receive shotgun shells by redeeming them at the Hospital Locker's on every floor of the hospital. My top 3 shotgun ammunition spawns are as follows:

Bubba's Truck Stop - A great spawn if your wanting to loot a quick 5-7 rounds within thirty seconds and engage in some PVP immediately. At Bubba's you will find shotgun shells on the second level of the warehouse near the two barrels in the middle of the top floor, inside the mechanics below the front counter, inside the diner underneath the counter where the two fridges are and in the gas station on the shelves and in the back where the boxes are. Ensure you punch the boxes as proximity scanning/looting isn't always successful and you may be missing the opportunity to loo rounds.

Pleasant Valley: - Pleasant Valley (PV) is so good for shotgun ammunition at the moment. There are five reliable shotgun spawns in PV that I always use. They are:

1) The gas station, general store and diner on the north side just south of the barracks as you enter PV. Here I recommend you look for ammo on the shelves and in the back of the gas station underneath the boxes which you MUST punch. I promise you will be rewarded with ammo if you punch these boxes as proxy scanning/looting is hit and miss at the moment. You will also find shotgun ammo inside the diner on and below the counter where the fridges are as well as under the boxes in the storage room and on the outside circular dining tables.

2) Romero's. Pay attention for the ammo spawns in the isle shelves as well as on the isle floors.

3) The U shaped block of shops. Inside every shop on the shelves spawns ammunition as well as underneath the 4 sets of 2 boxes behind the shops in the U shaped block of shops. In case you don't know where this "U shaped block of shops" are it is the shopping compound east of Romero's and in between the road that runs adjacent to Romero's and the main road of PV.

4) The bottom floor of the police station in front of the lockers closest to the door.

5) In the service station on the shelves and in the back underneath the boxes behind the police station.

In PV there are also random spawns in the restaurants and in the green sheds where the mansions are.

Wake Hills/Dartmouth - Wake Hills and Dartmouth are only a two minute walk from each other so I thought I would include both. Both of these places spawn a lot of shotgun ammunition on the shelves of the supermarkets, inside the diners and outside the diners on the circular dining tables. You will rarely find shotgun ammo in the mechanics and in the residentials of both Wake Hills and Dartmouth so sticking to the diners, gas stations and supermarkets are beneficial and most appropriate.

Other great spawns include Eastwood inside the diner near the shotgun spawn in the storage room, inside the two supermarkets on the shelves and under the boxes in the back room and also in the back of a truck and underneath boxes where the blue crate and two garbage bins are on the north western side of Eastwood.

I will now move on to discussing the best shotgun spawns in my experience.
My Top 3 Shotgun Spawns:

My Top 3 Shotgun Spawns:

Romero's at Ranchito Taquito - For some reason every time I go into Romero's at Ranchito to loot it is always packed with Shotguns. Your best bet when looting for shotguns is to look on the shelves, on the ground in the middle of the isles and in the toilets. I guarantee 1 or 2 shotgun spawns minimum each time you walk in to Romero's.

Eastwood - Eastwood is a hidden gem for shotgun spawns. There are four spawns here:

1) Inside the diner underneath the counter in the storage/cooking section. Ammunition and the actual gun spawns here.

2) In the supermarket next to the mechanics underneath the front counter.

3) Underneath the counter in the supermarket/shop with the isle at the back with the wooden boxes.

4) On top of the steel trolleys to the left of the blue container and two garbage bins where you often find pipe and metal sheets.

Bubbas Truck Stop - Again, Bubba's is amazing and has four very consistent and reliable gun spawns.

1) On the top floor of the warehouse next to the two barrels in the middle of the warehouse.

2) Inside the diner there is a shotgun hanging in a little gun storage compartment. It is near the front counter. You cannot miss it.

3) At the gas station underneath the front counter.

4) At the mechanics under the counter and reception room.

Other notable spawns include Romero's in PV on the shelves in the isles and on the floors, the single restaurant adjacent to the "U" shopping precinct in PV, the Police Station on the bottom floor in PV and in the Green Sheds near the mansions in PV and in the mansions themselves.
.308 Bullet Drop/Leading Guide
Starting Information:

Jut an FYI for beginners, shotgun's should only be used at close range for maximum effectiveness. Using it on a player with armor and close/medium range might take 4-5 shots so I recommend only using shotgun when in melee range or just outside in CQC (Close Quater Combat.

Before we get into bullet drop for the .308, I recommend a couple of things:

  • Sensitivity: Use a sensitivity that you feel will allow to have freedom when moving, strafing and ENAS'ing but allowing you to have control when aiming at a close range with a shotgun or pistol and at long range when using the .308.

  • Use a gaming mouse: If you don't have a good gaming mouse, buy one! A mouse is so important for tracking targets and I guarantee you will see results when you use a proper gaming mouse.

  • Stay calm: This is so important. Stay calm when in a gun fight. It will be hard at the start but once you get used to staying calm you will be able to hit shots more consistently and win fights.

.308 Bullet Drop and Leading:

Close, medium, long range .308 shooting downhill bullet drop/leading:

Close range:

Close range downhill, no bullet drop but this is where you would aim if he was moving left. Slightly leading to the left but at head height.

Close range downhill, no bullet drop but this is where you would aim if he was moving right. Slightly leading to the right but at head height.

Self explanatory. No bullet drop at this range. If stationary or running towards you simply aim at the head!

Medium range:

Aim where the crosshair is if your shooting an enemy at medium range, downhill and if he is moving to the left.

Aim where the crosshair is if your shooting an enemy at medium range, downhill and if he is moving to the right.

Aim where the crosshair is if your shooting an enemy at medium range, downhill and if he is stationary or not strafing.

Long range:

You know the drill. No bullet drop here. Just aim one model or so to the left at head height.

No bullet drop here. Just aim one model or so to the right at head height.

No bullet drop. Simply aim and fire!

Close, medium, long range .308 shooting uphill bullet drop/leading:

Close range:

No bullet drop at close range aiming up hill. If they move to the left aim at approximately where I am aiming.

No bullet drop at close range aiming up hill. If they move to the left aim at approximately where I am aiming.

No bullet drop at close range aiming up hill.

Medium range:

Slight bullet drop medium range. Very slight if barely noticable. Aim a bit higher than the middle of the helmet for best succes. If they move to the left aim at approximately where I am aiming.

No significant drop at medium aiming up hill. If they move right, aim approximately where my crosshair is.

No significant drop at medium. Aim at the head if they are stagnant or stationary.

Long range:

Close, medium, long range .308 shooting on a level surface bullet drop/leading:

Close range:

No bullet drop - must lead a bit to the left if moving left.

No bullet drop - must lead a bit to the right if moving right.

Simply aim and fire.

Hope this helped!

Squishy, stop spamming ur recruitment on other people's guides you idiot. You've already made a "guide" about you recruiting members. And good luck on gathering all these players, so that you'll fix all your issues with numbers and make a huge clan so you can win without much effort/knowledge/skill.
