Wise man once said "Connecting to the dota 2 game is the hardest part." The essence of Hawk Dota follows this guideline.

To play Hawk dota as it was designed, you must acquire an expensive computer which succeeds to be horrible at the same time.


Each time you fail to connect, tell your friends that the problem is alt tabbing out of the dota 2 screen. You may repeat this several times if needed.

However if you manage to load into the game, in time, then you may proceed to begin the real hawk dota, proceed to chapter 1.

Having a limited hero pool of 3 heroes, it's important to pick quickly.

Also you should remember that mid lane is the only lane you play. That means you say "mid" in chat, and ignore whatever anyone else says.

Heroes you choose from:

• Ogre magi
  Essentially an unkillable hero. But even so you must lose your lane to uphold the Hawk Dota code.
  
  
• Sniper
  The easiest hero to CS on and still be unproductive and easy to gank.
  
  
• Zeus
  You can easily top the HD charts with this hero and still lose the game for your team.

Normally mid players get the bounty rune to get a nice money boost for laning phase. In hawk style dota the bounty rune is not important.

When you go full hawk, you pick your hero at least 30 seconds too late. It means you don't have time to get the bounty rune. To be honest, you never wanted to pick it, you are still in 2013 and you prefer to block the creeps to get the essential adventage to your mid lane.

If you are in mood to annoy your friends, you ought to spawn only when they notice your abscence. "Where is Hawk again?", your stupid friends ask. That is the perfect moment to spawn.

You must always try to look as if you were going to land a last hit or a deny but at the same time make sure that neither party gets any CS if possible without creeps actually being denied.

When you try to deny, remember to do it just one moment earlier, so you won't get the deny. It is very important. Very very important to not get the deny. Enemy mid won't get the CS either so it's all good my boy, it's all good.

Try to land your hero attack just before the last hit range. This way your enemy won't most likely get the deny and you won't get the cs. A win-win situation.

I cannot emphasize importance of hawk last hits and hawk denies since without them the diving phase won't start naturally and you may have to force the diving phase.

*WARNING* Hawkdota won't work on SF. There's a reason almighty hwak has 0 wins as Shadow Fiend. Even after countless games he manages to lose every single one. That is becasue SF has skill that requires real last hits and denies, not designed to support HawkDota. I understand your frustration if you are filthy sf player. But remember, you can always play sf without that passive.

At certain point of laning phase your enemy starts to have xp and gold adventage because of Hawk last hits and Hawk denies. It is a clear sign to start so-called "Diving phase".


During the diving phase one must attack enemy hero. When the enemy hero goes behind his tower to heal, you keep attacking, ignoring your low hp, enemy tps and your angry teammates.

Dying is part of living, as hawk says. It's ok to die, everyone does it. That's one of hawk's mottos.

"WTF they gank?????"

Don't expect ganks, if you get ganked you should blame team.

But remember that you must not show any improvement despite whatever you say to not stray from the way of the Hawk.
