:O this is excatly what I have been missing! have mods to increase the ror cap and so they gain xp but was always disappointed with how the vanilla sons looked, thank you so much

If you do change the stats can you make a seperate version? I like just the reskin.

Not 100% sure having not done it myself for a vanilla unit, I would try adding the land_units_table, renaming it then removing everything apart from these guys.
At that point you should only need to change the armour type to a heavier one.
Worst that can happen is when you run the game with it, it'll crash but I think this should do the trick.
