If you have planted trees, or thinking about planting trees, in Farming Simulator 17, you may be wondering when the tree is fully grown and how long it will take. In this guide, I will tell you just that!

If you don't care about details and just want the results, skip to the results section. :)

How I did the experiment:
I planted 3 trees, although I only monitored one, and sped up the game 120x for 2 in-game weeks, taking a screenshot of the tree every in-game day.
I did this with both Fast and Normal growing speed, which had no effect on the tree's growing time. I haven't tested, but I'm pretty sure Slow growing speed doesn't affect tree's growing speed either.
This was done on the Goldcrest map, near the city, on Normal difficulty.

The following text can be a little repetitive, so skip down to the bottom of this section to get straight answers in a neat table. :)


























This is the first growing stage, the sapling, which appears when you plant them. They can't be chopped at this stage.

After two in-game days, the sapling becomes a little fuzzy. This is the second stage. This stage can't be chopped either.

After another two in-game days, the sapling grows into a tree. This is the third stage. It can be chopped, but you should wait to get more yield.


After another two in-game days, the tree grows bigger. This is the fourth stage. You can chop it down if you want, but if you wait a couple days, you can get even more yield.

After another two in-game days, the tree grows even bigger. This is the fifth stage. Not the last stage though!

After another two in-game days, the tree is at it's final, sixth stage. This is when you finally chop it down. It doesn't grow bigger than this.

Important: The Sampo Rosenlew HR46X tree harvester can't harvest the 5th and 6th stage! Wait 6 days after planting before harvesting the trees with this harvester.

So, wait 10 in-game days after you plant your saplings before harvesting them, to get max yield from each tree.
Growth speed setting doesn't seem to influence trees, but correct me if I'm wrong about this.
And yes, this experiment took several hours to do, as the game can only be sped up max 120x. That's 12 minutes per. in-game day. So, a thumb's up for effort and patience is appreciated! <3

And no, i did not spend my evening watching trees grow in a simulator game, I watched a Netflix series while doing the experiment, if you're curious. :P
