The 14-15 Grind - Is it worth it? (Outdated)
By Tian
How long would it take to reach level 15 from 14, you may ask? Just how much of my life am I wasting on a 3D Farmfest? I set out on a quest to find out.

Assumptions about your farming methods
You always clear the bridge.

You ignore the Gargoyles and Gathmor, only doing the skeletons.

The skeletons are killed 5 seconds after spawn.

Perfect! Now we need to get some raw numbers.
The raw numbers
There are 13 Bridge Skeletons (BS).
There are 3 Big Bones Generals (BBG).
Each BS gives 44 XP.
Each BBG gives 49 XP.
XP from BS: 13 x 44 = 572
XP from BBG: 3 x 49 = 147
Total XP: 572 + 147 = 719
XP required for 14 to 15: 738000
The numbers Mason, what do they mean?
Required bridge clears: 738,000 ÷ 719 = 1026.426
Now that's a real big number! Let's represent that in time.
Assuming the respawn time is 35 seconds and the kill time is 5 seconds, that would give us a total of 40 seconds per bridge clear.
1027 x 40 = 41080 seconds
41080 seconds = 684.667 minutes = 11.411 hours. That's basically 12 hours worth of pressing 4 over and over again. Y'know, like Warframe.

Reasoning
You have to ask yourself one question: am I feeling lucky? Is it worth it?

Maybe. For me? No. I've already premade the Shadowed set (except for the Scytheblade) which I can't use till I hit 15.

But to waste 12 hours worth of time to slave away at a computer? And what after? Then what? You've got your 15. All further earned XP is wasted.

Once the level cap is increased, it is likely that AE will reduce the XP requirement, as they always have in past games.

So, my suggestion? Just leave. Once you hit 14, you're good. You will have nothing to left to do once you hit 15 anyway.

Also, if there's any story quests you haven't done, then go ahead and do it. Don't forget about Yulgar's basement! Speaking of which, if you need help with Going the Distance...
Gold
But of course, you can always take gold earned into account. It's easier to preserve your sanity this way.

BS: 13 x 4 = 52 gold
BBG : 3 x 5 = 15 gold
Per clear: 52 + 15 = 67 gold
Total: 1027 x 67 = 68809 gold

I don't think I need to tell you that it's a lot.
Gargoyles
Now, maybe you should consider killing the gargoyles. After all, we've got 35 seconds to play with. Assuming you kill a gargoyle say... every 5 seconds, you would have 7 gargoyles, which just so happens to be the number on the bridge.

Coincidence? Maybe.

Anyway, considering how I overestimated the time to kill the gargoyles, an organized group could surely clear them off the bridge.

So, back to it. Gargoyles (G) give 44 XP, just like BSs.

XP from Gs: 7 x 44 = 308 XP

If we added that to our BS and BBG calculations:  719 + 308 = 1027

What a coincidence! Or is it?

738000 ÷ 1027 = 718.598 bridge clears.

I don't think I need to tell you how much time is saved but eh, might as well.

[(719 x 40) ÷ 60] ÷ 60 = 7.989 hours (!!!)

Difference in time = 11.4111 - 7.9888 = 3.4223 hours.

You shave 3 hours of time by killing those things at the sides. Won't take long, I promise. Hell, if you're even more efficient, you could maybe shave off enough time to kill Gathmor or the BBG that sometimes takes his place.
Farming strategy required for this to work
So, you've been reading this and wondering how on earth could you execute this plan. After all, your group uses a different strategy.

Stop using the "whole group moves" strategy. It's highly inefficient. Lure instead. One person (preferably with high health and defense) runs into the crops and lures them into the spinning whirlwind of death. This can be likened to wheat being harvested by a tractor with spinning blades (maybe). Either that or I'm high.

Now I recommed a new method - the double lure. Two tanks are sent to lure both groups into the whirlwind. Time this exactly right and you'll have the 35 seconds to kill the gargoyles.
Temporary conclusion
I finally decided to update this guide. All the information you just read is now obsolete. AE has lowered the XP requirement. I only got to 200,000 before I gave up, but I STILL got the Cape Of Determination. I didn't waste that much time but I still got it. Like I was considered to have put in as much effort as those who actually bothered to go all the way. I am now level 15, and I got the same result for only 2/7 of the work.

If you'd listened to me, you'd have saved so much time. Enough gloating, of course. Now, it's probably worth it.

Thank you for reading. Have fun!

PS. If you've read this please encourage others to kill the gargoyles.

PSS. The Vorah Dagger is only for bragging rights. Maybe.
