Now you lie awake, awaiting the signal, and when it comes you’re ready to go. In a surprising turn of events, your companion also rises, presumably to bar your exit; but that’s not the case. They’ve been keeping a secret from you too, and together you vanish into the night. A fresh file on Valentine’s desk.
