It has always seemed to me to be more tedious to train over 8 divisions of paras for any operation, since they take a lot of resources. Transports take far too long to build and don't have enough range, and the paras organization is trash until the final upgrade. Basically, there's more to be desired with them for any full time strategic work.

Depends on your plan. Do you mean just to secure one port with the troopers and funnel troops in through the port to help or to use the troopers to expand and capture territory? If the first then yes, you can use a smaller detachment if the second then you will want to use more.

So, seeing this, it looks from what you're doing that paradrops in combat are only effective in large numbers of divisions. Is this true for other scenarios? Let's say the Soviets have flanked through the baltics, and are surrounding your forces. Would it be safer to paradrop 24 units of paras into the baltics to secure a port or just drop 4-8?
