[Blue Shield Refurbish Tutorial] Restore Repairs & Durability on all your weapons. Keep your favorite weapons with you forever!
By Blade Master
Hello, this guide will teach you how to refurbish and restore all repairs/durability on all your weapons, and by "All" I meant as much as you can carry per mission run (entire inventory). You can even completely revive broken weapons with 0 durability and 0 repairs left, just as new as they were when you found them! Yes, even gold tier weapons!

You can repeat this quest every 3-5 in-game days which can be fast forwarded by sleeping.

(Dev weapons such as EXPcalibur/Korek Machete cannot be repaired this way)

This may not be a new, but for me personally... I couldn't find this much accurate information in any other threads, videos or anywhere I looked on google, so I decided to do some research on my own and luckily I found a good spot where you can always, almost always trigger a Blue Shield survivor escort mission, keep in mind that this doesn't always work, from my own experience, it's around 80%+ chance that he'll spawn. Sometimes he won't spawn at all, so in this case you'll simply go to sleep for 3-5 in-game days. I decided to create a my own guide to share this information with others who also love this kind of stuff in games.

Huge Thanks to Techland for coming up with such a great idea!

You should find everything you need to know about this in the video annotations and description below.

Have fun!

Finding Blue Shields

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1: This blue shield mission is always repeatable, means you can always redo this as many times as you want to repair your weapons. He will spawn in any difficulty whether it's NG+ or not.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2: To unlock blue shield escort missions you first need to progress your story to 28%. I personally had no luck with blue shields until I finished all white shield escort missions, people report that this step isn't necessary and blue shields will appear without finishing all white shields.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3: Sleep at least 3-5 days to ensure blue shield will appear, I recommend 6 days. Keep in mind that white shield escort missions respawn, if you decide to finish it all, note that you only need to finish every white shield escort mission once, ignore all the respawned ones afterwards as they won't affect blue shields unless you start new save or NG+.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4: In order to trigger the blue shield encounter, wait for 09:00, then check the specific spot[i.imgur.com] shown in the video, if you don't see the blue shield, move away little while then come back after a several seconds to see if he spawned. If he didn't, keep going back and forth until he spawns, if he doesn't spawn till 19:00-20:00, sleep for 3 days then come back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5: Blue Shield escort missions can only be found in Singleplayer mode, apparently they don't appear otherwise.

The reason I believe is, since you can only refurbish as much as you can carry, means you can't leave the survivor, go to safe house, bring more weapons from stash and refurbish, because if you leave the survivor he'll simply disappear, this could be tricked in Co-op, by having another player bring weapons from stash while one staying at survivor so the NPC doesn't disappear, this way it would be possible to refurbish whole stash. So it's actually a good thing that it's only in SP, smart move from developers!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6: Once you've done escorting the survivor, he'll talk to you and give you an option with "Reward", you then press F by default to open his interface, after that there will be two options, Rewards and Refurbish Weapons. This is important, make sure that you do not take the Rewards until you've finished with refurbishing everything you want. Taking rewards causes survivor to leave immediately, whereas you can refurbish as many weapons as you can carry as he'll never leave, waiting for you to take his generous rewards.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7: The blue shield survivor shown in the video has always same pattern and exact same spawn spot, do not expect him to spawn in another train or somewhere else.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8: It's possible to trigger his spawn after 06:00 AM in-game time, until midnight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9: If either you or survivor dies even before accepting to help him, he will despawn and it'll take him a long time to come back, I had to wait for around 6-12 in-game days.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10: Hold weapon in your hands, preferably one that needs repairs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11: Repair glitch: if you have two or more weapons with the same name and same stats, it will only repair one of them. Drop the repaired weapon and you can repair the next.

Corrected 8, thanks Love Muffin.

If you want to check your watch without opening map or inventory menu, simply equip and hold knife then look a little bit left and you should be able to see it.

Another way is to equip any melee and hold throw button, you'll be able to see watch however this is an unsafe method as you must be careful not to throw the weapon. (Doesn't work with Special Agent outfit, may not work with some others as well.)

This is all I know so far, as times goes, I'll correct/update the guide with even more info and details.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I'll do my best.

apparently anything below 0 weapon durability loss in dying light makes weapons not break ,
so for this game put it at 0.05 instead of 1,
in dead island put is -20..

put lucky repair to 1.0 instead of 0.25,

then put weapon durability -20 instead of 1.
which also works for the Dead Island games.

Useless guide, I slept for over 20 days and he still doesn't spawn. Wasted 3 hours of my life to follow some fake guide.
