I tend to use the space grille for when I want a filler that lasers can pass through. It's also nice in that it reduces the visual intensity of the laser beams and thus reduces the flicker intensity. However, space windows are better if you need good visibility.

Those are Space Windows. They are not tentacle-resistant but they do let you walk on and see through. and lasers shine through them.
