NPC, IRS, FBI, CIA, NBC, BBC, SAS are all correct ways of writing their respective abbreviations when on the other hand
Wed. Dec. Mr. Dr. and St. all end with a dot because of that lower case at the end.
Please note however, that if you are from the UK words like Mr Dr and St are written without the period due to it being the British norm)
Please understand that as someone who is studying the English language there are so many variants of it from all around the world that its punctuation isn't set in stone world rules.
