Introduction

Please note that this build is hard to level up in the early levels (before ravage is available) but will clear anything late-game with ease assuming you have followed the guide thoroughly.

The budget version of the build is exactly the same, just using different gear and skulls

Stat Allocation
Strength - 30 (15 allocated)
Dexterity - 189 (174 allocated)
Focus - 311 (306 allocated)
Vitality - 5 (0 allocated)

Strength:
Although strength seems like the obvious choice for a melee berserker that utilizes crit, the weapon damage and bonus damage is rather trivial to the special interaction that Hammer of Retribution uses with fast attacks.

Dexterity
The reason why I allocated 174 dexterity is so I could equip the Draketalon armor pieces. It also gives critical strike chance and dodge which are extremely helpful.

Focus
Focus is the core of the build. The Ice Spike on hit from Hammer of Retribution scales ridiculously with focus. Dump as many points into focus as you can.

Vitality
Important on every character, but we get it from gear.

You may have a different stat allocation depending on what gear you aim to use. Extra vitality points is important when leveling up, which can be very difficult.
Skills
You will have an extra point. I just stuck it in Frenzy.

Hunter:

Battle Rage (15/15)
Gives a massive buff to both offense and defense, based on the amount of enemies nearby. If you are in the middle of a giant pack, you will deal a lot more and receive a lot less damage.

Ravage (15/15)
The core of this build. The fast triple slashes allows the Ice Spike from Hammer of Retribution to cast a lot more often, which is where most of our damage originates from.

Blood Hunter (15/15)
Survivability if you take a large hit is key. Blood hunger combined with charge bar can help you leech back to full health without the need for potions.

Rampage (15/15)
Having attack, cast, and movement speed is very helpful, whether it is up all the time or half the time. Rampage allows you to dodge easier and deal more damage.

Tundra

Stormclaw (15/15)
Provides a similar interaction with Ice Spike. Because you are hitting so often, many lightning bolts will be released, dealing massive AoE damage.

Ice Shield (10/15)
A defensive skill that reflects missles. 15 points are not necessary because at 10/15, there is already a 100% chance to reflect - at 15 the reflected missles just deal extra damage, which we are not aiming for.

Cold Steel Mastery (15/15)
More ice damage, and more physical damage.

Shadow

Savage Rush (1/15)
Movement skill and kiting skill. Use this when you are trying to dodge or kite bosses. Dodge all of their skills then get close up and ravage until they melt.

Shred Armor (15/15)
Shreds enemy armor, gain armor for yourself. A double buff.

Red Wolf (15/15)
Who wouldn't want more damage?
Spells
Player Spells
  • Weapons Expertise (damage bonus)
  • Dual Wielding (damage bonus)
  • Armor Expertise (armor bonus)
  • Haste (constant movement and attack speed)
  • Dervish (attack speed)
  • Adventuring (potion effectiveness)
  • Treasure Hunter (magic-finding luck)

The top 4 are my preferred once you are level 100 and have all the gear and gold you need.

Haste vs. Dervish
I prefer haste due to the constant uptime of 12 seconds. Dervish does not provide movement speed which is essential for kiting. However, dervish is insane when trying to burst down a tough boss. Choose for yourself!

Pet Spells
  • Dervish (attack speed)
  • Silence (helpful against casters)
  • Summon Skeleton (good distraction)
  • Summon Archers (good distraction)
  • Other summons that are helpful

The pet spells are mainly for utility. I don't know why but I just like sticking dervish on pets. Otherwise, just go with silence and 3 summons.
Gear and Gems
Always the most complex part of the build. This build features a budget and non-budget end game set.

However, you MUST have the following
  • 2x Hammer of Retribution

Even if you have the best legendary mace (Smithereen), the build will deal significantly less damage.

Non-budget
  • 2x Hammer of Retribution
  • Inquisitor Trousers
  • Inquisitor Ring
  • Harbinger Shoes
  • Harbinger Badge
  • Harbinger Ring
  • Draketalon Armor
  • Draketalon Helmet
  • Draketalon Mantle
  • Draketalon Belt
  • Draketalon Gloves

Huh? You're using 2 RARE armor pieces and losing the 9 and 10 piece bonus from Harbinger set? 80% bonus crit and 25% crit all down the drain?

Yes, unfortunately, ravage consumes a ton of mana and with the Inquisitor 2-set bonus, one auto attack will put you back to full mana. Better even, when holding down ravage, you will automatically auto attack when you run out of mana, thus putting yourself back to full mana.

Why no Draketalon Boots?

Because Harbinger Shoes are better. Look at the stats before asking. (OK maybe healing to full in an estimated 1 in 20 hits taken is worth it but against bosses it's illogical)

Non-Budget Gems
In Weapon
  • 4x Rambren Skull (60% bonus to Critical Damage)
In Armor
  • 13x Skull of Riechliu (+1540 Health)
  • 6x Skull of Limoany (All damage taken is reduced by 5%)
  • 1x Giant Chaos Ember (6% faster movement speed)

6x Skull of Limoany with the Draketalon Helmet (20% reduction) will put you at 75% in physical and all elements.

Budget
  • 2x Hammer of Retribution
  • Inquisitor Trousers
  • 2x Inquisitor Ring
  • Inquisitor Gaiters
  • Inquisitor Beret
  • Inquisitor Epaulettes
  • Inquisitor Amulet
  • Inquisitor Gauntlets
  • Inquisitor Brigandine
  • Inquisitor Belt

There are probably better options, but this one can run Tarroch's Tomb on Elite, so I'm happy. That's right. Tarroch's Tomb on Elite with full rare armor and 2 uniques.

Budget Gems
In Weapon
  • 4x Rambren Skull (60% bonus to Critical Damage)
In Armor
  • 10x Skull of Riechliu (+1540 Health)
  • 10x Skull of Limoany (All damage taken is reduced by 5%)

10x Skull of Limoany without the Draketalon Helmet (20% reduction) will put you at 75% in physical and all elements.
My Gear / Stats
(Spent less time and gold optimizing for Focus enchantments on gear for Budget version)
Gameplay
For Packs
  • Savage Rush into pack
  • Ravage once
  • Everything explodes

For Bosses (under level 195)
  • Savage Rush into boss
  • Ravage once or twice
  • Boss explodes

For Bosses (over level 195)
  • Stormclaw
  • Battle Rage
  • Iceshield if ranged boss
  • Savage Rush into boss
  • Ravage couple times
  • Savage Rush to juke
  • Ravage couple more times
  • Boss explodes

Hope you enjoyed my guide. Happy one-shotting!
Ravage vs. Wolfpack
I've tried both builds out and I have to say that this one wins
  • Both are last tier skills, which means they are both hard to level up (hardcore not recommended)
  • Ravage requires you to be close up, whereas wolfpack you can snipe from a range
  • Ravage has much better DPS
  • Wolfpack utilizes Battle Standard and therefore can use the entire Harbinger/Draketalon set rather than Inquisitor
  • Wolfpack requires much better gear (probably cannot do Tarroch's Tomb elite consistently with only 2 uniques)
  • Ravage has a much better clear time in Tarroch's Tomb and bosses in general (Wolfpack also sucks at round 5 (King Tar))
  • Wolfpack has a better clear time in maps due to the projectile nature of Wolfpack

@nicky2tymes At the end of the video, I showcase my gear. As you can see, some of them have +Dext attribute and +Str attribute. Note that the allocation according to the guide depends how much you need to be able to equip the armor.

Strength - 30 (15 allocated)
Dexterity - 189 (174 allocated)

It totals to 363 strength and 285 dexterity, so off of gear I have 333 strength and 15 dexterity
YMMV

I managed to get some draketalon pieces, but the dexterity and strength requirements are super high. Like, I can't seem to get close to them. I'm rather noobish, so what am I missing for getting my stats as high as yours? I've allocated my points according to the guide too. Thx!

A berserker using Focus and maces? Mom, I found my next build!!

Great explanation and information. Good guide!
FlippyK  [autor(a)] 30/ago./2016 às 22:43
@L33tleboy Even if the second Hammer of Retribution doesn't stack, then Eye of Aleera wouldn't stack because it is the exact same wording. Hammer (25%) > 4x Eye of Aleera (20%).

Anyway, I went to a target dummy and hit it a bunch of times, comparing 1 vs 2 Hammer of Retributions, 2 of them definitely gave a lot more spikes (however, not sure how execute plays a role in this)

Did you try using the Netherrealm Axe?
L33tleboy 30/ago./2016 às 10:06
According to some other sources dual-wielding Hammers of Retribution don't stack Glacial Spike chance additively, they are multiplicative. That means the bonus will be marginal (around 2%). Eyes of Aleera are additive. That means having Netherrealm Axe with 4 Eyes of Aleera as offhand is the best option to increase Glacial Spike chance. +8% Critical Hit Chance bonus from the Axe is also great.
I'm not sure if this information is right or wrong, so what do you think?

Good luck! Hope your leveling goes smoothly.
Demirbaykus 9/ago./2016 às 15:50
Nearly got the whole set, i can give it a shot :3
FlippyK  [autor(a)] 9/ago./2016 às 12:22
@hukutka94 Hard to level up, but you can always use points in other skills early on and don't use rampage or some of the other passives late game.
Demirbaykus 9/ago./2016 às 10:54
OMFG man this is beautiful! I'm currently using HoR on my ember engi, i'm sure this build will be my next one. Thank you! ^_^
