Pixel Craft - Rebalanced Crafting and Difficulty

Omschrijving
In the universe of Starbound pixels make up everything. Its a universal force, condensed and raw energy, that can be harvested into special casings. When "used" it cause reactions and manipulate atoms much like matter manipulators do, but pixels achieve this by inducing a burst energy charge. The various tools at the workstation station mold the energy and items into a new state of matter in seconds instead of the time it used to take to fabricate items in 'ancient' times. In this space traveling galactic society this energy would be used and traded with the upmost value over other goods. Being able to extract this energy from alien creatures, find stashed caches of it or putting it in pods Earth shoots out into space to use for when colonizing distant worlds (inspect the stack of pods in the intro mission just before ship) makes sense. As an explorer of ancient ruins, or a bounty hunter, an outlaw, an extra-xeno-terran farmer, a smuggler, a lumberjack or whatever you choose to be in Starbound this raw energy, these pixels, are essential to your survival now. You will need to find a way to acquire them, a lot of them, to thrive.

Did you know that Starbound has 422.22 quadrillion planets? That's 422,220,000,000,000,000 written out. I only need to go to 11 to get to end game in the weekend 1.0 released. After a week of learning how to make edit mods for Starbound I began to create Pixel Craft. This mod completely and totally destroys the intended quick casual feel of Starbound. Start a new character if you intend to try. It was made for my own private server, Persnickety Penguin Petters, intending to make co-op multiplayer more group oriented and to require exploration. Pixel Craft changes Starbound into something that will not take a week to 'complete' anymore. You will not be able to have stockpiles of everything or a grand mega planet-wide colony. Pixel Craft will also encourage players to barter their selected trade items with one another. What this mod does is twofold. It changes every base material to require pixels to craft and it adjusts the game's difficulty by a series of indirect tweaks.

+ Pixel Craft is made for survival difficulty. You now start with no torches or food, only a flashlight.

+ Removed all recipes from empty hands crafting menu except the Inventor's Table. Moved these recipes to tier 1 wooden workbench (timber) and tier 1 foraging table (everything else)
+ Adjusted crafting recipe for Inventor's Table to not require timber and costs 100 pixels (starting amount).
+ New Furnace recipe: 100 logs yield 1 coal

The following recipes also require the following:

+ Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold, Tungsten Bar
...all require 50 pixels, 5 coal and require 3 ore for each bar
+ Durasteel and Titanium Bar
...all require 200 pixels, 5 coal, 25 oil and require 3 ore for each bar
+ Refined Aegisalt, Ferozium and Violium
...all require 1ooo pixels, 100 lava, 25 oil and require 3 ore for each bar
+ Solarium Star requires 1 pixel, 50 healing water and needs 5 ore now

+ Hunting Spears 15 pixels per batch
+ Torches 12 pixels per batch
+ Timber 3 pixels per batch

+ Fried Clay 1 pixels
+ Rope 10 pixels
+ Salve 12 pixels
+ Capture Pod 1,ooo pixels
+ Canvas 50 pixels

Dungeon Maps

Protectorate chests no longer give you a stockpile of pixels or healing items. Instead you get something else that will come in handy later. If you do the intro or skip it you will only have 50 starting pixels either way.

Planet Generation

New planets will now generate friendly villages and hostile dungeons less. Everything has been lowered by 75% so you will not find these on every planet. I changed the threat level range for worlds too. Planets now are able to spawn the next highest tier. Example: forest worlds can now be tier 2 or tier 3 threat level. Make sure you check these. I did not touch the 'kindergarden' threat level or dungeon generation as it would break new characters to start on a threat 2 world with no gate.

Colony Deed system rebalance.

'Frögg Furnishing' no longer sells working colony deeds. Instead he sells a new item for 5,ooo pixels called 'inactive colony deed.' You take this to the '2 Stop Teleshop' with 1 teleporter core and 8 tech cards. The shopkeeper will then assemble a working colony deed for you. I also changed the behavior of colony deeds. The first tenant to spawn to the deed is the only tenant that wil luse that deed even if the deed is removed or the room is altered. Who you get is locked to the deed.

Matter Manipulator Upgrades require 478 Matter Manipulator Modules (MMMs) to acquire a 100% fully upgraded tool.

+Liquid Collection unlocks for 1 MMM
+Paint Tool unlocks for 1 MMM
+Wiring Tool unlocks for 1 MMM
+Power/ Size/ Range are all rescaled to the same cost for each tier of 25 MMM/ 50 MMM / 100 MMM

Tier 3 power and range upgrade raised by 100% each

Other Changes

+ Refining Changes: copper, silver, gold, solarium ores and diamonds are worth it to refine now. The other ores and all ingots are not woth it.
+ Oil is now craftable from the fossil station. Its a little expensive and requires a good deal of resources to keep it rare.
+ Sand, logs and dirt are now sellable!

Just discovered that too many character in the mod description results in an error uploading/ updating! So I am switching to a notepad changelog. To view it you will need to unpack the mod in starbound's subscribed workshop directory. I'll only be posting the last version's changes from now on in the mod description.

version 8.0: Entirely reworked refining. Oil craftable. Sand, dirt and logs sellable. Added oil to top tier ingot recipie.

I seem to have got a few rewards this week for this. Cool thanks!

I just want to say to everyone I made this FOR the last version of Starbound which was 1.3 (before bounty hunting was added). I would think many things were not touched by that update but stuff introduced was never messed with or changed for the current version of the game.

There are no plans to continue this project for 1.4 but who knows what the future may bring. If anyone wants to take up on this to expand it (in the same OMFG THIS IS NUTS spirit) by all means please do so, just add a small mention to this original mod in your description.

The reason I did that was to encourage you to pack up your pixels with the compressor and make it so you actually would use all the weapons you found. Gave it more a reason to use crafting to make multiple armor sets. Make little outposts on worlds where you turned into checkpoints and stash your loot. Just don't play the peramdeath high game setting and you should not need to worry about item drops. I liked it but it was just a headache sometimes.

I think the annoyance of losing everything completely (naked) can be solved by the equipment reserves on the ship and safety colonies, so that it can be like "escaping from Takov"

Oh yeah I don't play this latest version of Starbound. I really don't play the game anymore but I DO have a giant modpack on a server from past version I worked heavily on to make everything run good. If you would like to take up the torch and re-release it go for it, but EVERYONE hated the 'drop EVERYTHING on death' I added. Its cause a bit of rage in my personal experience too :D And if you wanna play the past version with my modpack (you can duel install) hit me with a friend request babes.

Some 1.3 items were never done. I stopped working on this but what it does do will still work without issues (unless another mod you run overwrites... the higher mod number/ name will be the winner).

I've been looking at this mod for a while and have finally come around to subbing to it.

So far its really fun! the game was always sort of a push over, because I would have all the best stuff by the time I was getting the Floran artifact, and an abundance of usless pixles in my inventory.

I'll probably have this in all the rest of my playthroughs as long as it's being updated, Great idea and mod you have here. Thanks!
