Note: Fraps caused some troubles during the recording session. It ran full 60fps for me but the HDD was asking for mercy.

DAT MENU MUSIC. Yes, eXceed Gun Bullet Children was serious business back then! No happy true-la-la!

As you can see, the first game of the series is a very osbcure, strange and really not too remarkable shooter. You can tell Tenne-Sozai has gone a long way since the release of this game!

I've heard comparisons between the mechanics of Gun Bullet Children and Shikigami No Shiro, but I'm not too familiar with that series so I couldn't spot it. Yes, you have a familiar (Silvestre, which then becomes a boss in eXceed 2nd, as well as all the Gun Bullet Children!) with this character and you can get it to some a bit around but not too much as it's usually following you.

There is a story behind but, of course, it's in japanese so Nyu Media will provide some story transcriptions.

Overall, eXceed GBC is an extremely challenging game if it catches you off guard. Don't be fooled by those moments where nothing shows up (it really is a glaring flaw since, for a first stage, it's just way too long!), whatever is coming will certainly show up firing at full power. The charge mechanic forces you to graze bullets to get that special power attack that brings down everything in seconds but the bullets are a bit too small and it can cause eye fatigue after a while (it happened to me).

Also, picking the pink crystals is imperative to improve your firepower so try not to miss those and destroy stuff at a close distance to enable auto-collection of all the point items.

By the way, I get so destroyed by the boss it's not funny, heh.

Let the game be testimony of the enormous evolution of Tennen-Sozai!
