Normal (red) heart (info)
The red heart is the heart most used in battles and is the default heart used in battles

You can use the arrow keys to move the heart around

There are 5 attack types you can find as the red heart:

White attacks, which just deal damage to you.

Blue attacks, which wont hurt you when you stand
still and get hit but will hurt you if you move and get hit

Orange attacks, which hurt you when you stand
still and get hit but don't hurt you when moving

Green "attacks" which either heal you or
you go into to complete "ACT" activites to spare
a monster. Usually heal 1HP.

Light grey "attacks", which don't hurt you
at all. They are merely used for comedic
releif in the napstablook and Mettaton EX fights
Blue heart (info)
The blue heart is used in the papyrus and sans fights
Unlikes the red hearts ability to
just "fly" and move freely the blue
heart is affected by gravity.

The height of the jumps are effected on how long you hold the up arrow

There are five attack types you can find as the blue heart

Normal attacks, Which act the same as normal.

Blue attacks, Which act the same as normal
but if you're falling into one it counts as moving

Orange attacks, Which also counts falling
as movement

THE NEXT TWO ATTACKS ARE EXCLUSIVE TO A FINAL BOSS! SPOILERS!

Psychonesis, Which slams your heart into a wall,
often leading into a normal, white attack.

Platforms, Which you jump on to avoid
the normal attacks thrown at you.
Green heart (info)
The green heart, used in the undyne genocide and normal fight restricts your ability to move,
replacing it with an ability to block attacks with a "spear".you face into spears/arrows to prevent being damaged.

There are two attacks used against the green heart.

Spears, which you must face to prevent being damaged
Spears will vary in speed and patterns.

Yellow spears, which when approaching you,
flip onto the opposite side of your heart
(I.E. a yellow spear goes down, then it move to the bottom side)
Yellow spears can be very confusing and just a pain.
Purple heart (info)
The purple heart is used exclusively in the muffet fight.
The purple heart is pretty hard to explain, so I'm sorry if you don't understand.
Vertical movement is grid based and fast but horisontal movement is
more like "strafing" or at least more similar to the normal hearts movement

There is only one attack used against the purple heart

The normal attack, is the same as always.
but there are some different usages of the normal attack:
one like a boomerang, one bouncy one, etc.
Yellow heart (info)
The yellow heart is used in the mettaton fights Mettaton and Mettaton EX
The yellow heart is identical to the red heart but with one different:
The yellow heart shoots a bullet when pressing "Z".

There are 3 attacks found as the yellow heart
There are also 4 attacks that are variants of the normal attack

The normal attack, which is as normal as ever.

The blue attack, which is only used in a "disco ball"
attack, dont worry, I have a part on that.

The light grey attack, which wont hurt you.
It's just for comedic releif.

And our five variant attacks:

The destructable block, obviously you
shoot it then it breaks. Very simple.

Mettatons heart, which fires lighting bolts
in a circle attack. You attack the heart then the
attack ends and mettatons limbs get destroyed.
The atack is often protected by something extra.

Mini mettatons, Pretty damn fun to say.
They shoot little hearts at you that do damage.
You can "kill" them by shooting them.

The disco ball, which will project lasors at you in a circulaire motion,
you shoot the the disco ball to swap its lasors to from white to blue, or vice versa.

Mettatons legs Shoot the legs to freeze the legs
or make them stop moving.
Cyan and Orange hearts (info)
Toby Fox has not made any fights utilising the orange or cyan hearts.
Fans often use the hearts in fanimations/unitale fights as a "wild card"
because the two hearts have no actual use.

I know it sounds stupid but if I were to add the hearts I would do this:
CYAN HEART = Dance Dance Revolution
ORANGE HEART = Fully grid based movement, varies in grid size

it's nice to think of what could have been.

Monster/Gray hearts (info)
These hearts are shown when killing Toriel or Asgore.
That's pretty much it. It's just a thing to add drama when killing 'em.

Appearently the boss monster souls stay a bit before vanishing.
They're also called boss monster souls.

Red heart (Tactics)
Lets be honest. They aren't really any tactics for the red heart, since it's so basic.
But here are some things anyways:

First one is to try and create a time gap for peparing attacks,
A.K.A. back away from the attack, go through the attack VERY
quickly when you are sure you can do it and then repeat for the
next attack. It may not work in faster fights such as some of the
final bosses, but it still works well in early to mid game battles.

Second one is to find ways to avoid attacks with a simple movement
pattern, I'd only reccomend this if you are having trouble with an
attack, mostly for mid to end game bosses. You can't use this
tactic for everything, because you'll need to remember alot.

Third tactic is to go in the places where you find the least amount
of bullets are and stay there, just dodging some attacks.

Blue heart (tactics)
All the red heart techniques work just as well (if not better) with the blue heart.

One thing you should really practice with the blue heart it timing.
timing is everything with the blue heart. It is the top priority.

One more thing you really need while using the blue heart
is to hold the up arrow for long enough and jump in the right
places. You'll be screwed if you don't do proper jumps.

Green heart (Tactics)
Now the green heart is VERY simple. I only really have one tip.

The normal spears are kind of easy. What you really need to worry
about are those yellow spears, they are annyoing.
Now you should either ignore them until they switch sides or
imprint it into your brain to face the opposite side.

Purple heart (Tactics)
You can use the same tactics as the blue or red heart sections.

except with the jumping part in the blue section
replace it with how much distance you travel upwards

You can skip the Muffet (Only fight with the
purple heart) fight instantly if you eat a spider donut.

You should try improving your reflexing
if you're having trouble with the Muffet fight.

Yellow heart (tactics)
You can use the same techniques as the red or purple heart.

Try to keep a consistent positon on the screen with the yellow heart.
I often get damaged from staying back to much or charging into
action, only to be blocked by the edge of the "battle box" thing.

You should put the same amount of focus on dodging and shooting,
too much shooting and you die, too much dodging and you'll be
destroyed by mini mettatons and other stuff you didnt break.

One great tip on the mettaton EX is to get a bunch of items
that improve your ratings one example is to equip your
second best armor and then switch to your best armor
on the first turn. If you guys want I can make a tutorial
on Mettaton EX.

What to practice
This will show you the most useful techniques for dodging

One of the most useful ones is to use movement patterns against hard attacks
This is really evident in the "no-hit runs" on youtube. I can't mention any
because basicly all the no hit videos have spoilers in them.

You should practice your reflexes and timing alot.
Honestly it's common sense for what you should do.

Lets be honest, everyone plays games differently.
You should just find what suits you best.

Orange is like muffet, but also has vertical lines where you can only be on an intersection.

I HAVE AN IDEA ON CYAN AND ORANGE
Orange: When Colliding with Light gray Attacks You will get stuck. Basically sticky SOUL. (it also works with the battlebox bounds). (Acts the same as red SOUL too).

Cyan: WAIT...
ITS USED IN SANS!?!?!? FIGHT ITS A CYAN HEART SOUL

For the Orange SOUL, I've heard that one person used it as a sort of "reverse" mode, where each attack's effect is reversed with an opposite (Green hurts while White heals, move through Blue and stay still through Orange, etc.). Not my idea, just throwing it out there. :tobdog:
