In this guide I will be showcasing my ways, the easiest ways of obtaining all of the achievements this game has to offer. After playing this game for ages on x360 I finally bought it here to have fun and grind achievements. So, without further notice, lets dive into the guide.

MERCY KILLER

Official description: Survive the No Mercy campaign.

Tactic: Go into singleplayer, put the difficulty to easy and beat the campaign.
TOLL COLLECTOR

Official description: Survive the Death Toll campaign.

Tactic: Go into singleplayer and set the difficulty to easy. Stroll across the maps until you beat the campaign.
DEAD BARON

Official description: Survive the Dead Air campaign.

Tactic: Self explanatory like all the others, singleplayer, easy difficulty.
GRIM REAPER

Official description: Survive the Blood Harvest campaign.

Tactic: By now, you already know it, same as with all the other campaigns.
CRASH-PROOF

Official description: Survive the Crash Course campaign.

Tactic: Singleplayer, easy difficulty.
Supreme Sacrifice

Official description: Complete "The Sacrifice".

Tactic: I would say do it like all the others but, first time I passed the campaign as Louis, achievement did not unlock. Maybe it was a glitch, maybe not. Best bet is to play as Bill, and have him restart the generator in the end which will also unlock "Kill Bill" achievement. Of course, the diffculty should be easy.
Kill Bill

Official description: Have Bill sacrifice himself for the team.

Tactic: Just like I said in the previous achievement section, you need to play as Bill the entire campaign from start to finish, save a pipe so you can fend off a horde when the bridge comes down and run to the generator to restart it.
Chaos Generator

Official description: Have all 3 generators running at once in "The Sacrifice" finale.

Tactic: You'll need 3 people for this, each should position himself on one generator and start them up all in the same time. You do not need to play the campaign to unlock this achievement. Simply start in act 3 from the lobby.
Barrel Rolled

Official description: Kill a Special Infected with an exploding barrel.

Tactic: This achievement can only be done in "The Sacrifice" campaign, or if you are fortunate enough and find yourself on a modded server that has barrels. Anyway, you need to lure a SI near a barrel, once you hear that one is close, for hunter, incap a bot near the barrel, to do this, switch the difficulty from easy to expert, once incapped, switch back to easy and wait for the hunter to take the bait. For boomer, incap all 3 bots, with the tip I mentioned above, lure him near a barrel by walking up to him then walking back. As soon as they're close blow it, they can die either from the explosion or from the fire the barrel produced, doesn't matter.
QUICK POWER

Official description: Restart the generator within 30 seconds of it shutting off.

Tactic: The generator will shut itself down near the arrival of the 2nd tank. Either before or in the middle of him coming, save a pipe for this part because there might be a horde around the corner. Throw the pipe and start restarting the generator, even if you don't get there immediatly, you have time. My guess is that it takes you approx. 10 seconds to restart it.
THE LITTLEST GENOCIDE

Official description: Kill 5,359 Infected in the Crash Course campaign.

Tactic: Pretty much self explanatory, play Course in survival, versus and play campaigns, each time try to rack up more and more kills, use every tool at your disposal to do this, and eventually it will unlock. You can speed it up by starting a single player game and kicking 2 bots, leave 1 bot if it gets messy with the specials, enable developer's console in the options and once you start, type, for example, "kick francis". You should be able to get around 500 or more kills per playthrough. Remember to hit every car alarm and let every boomer vomit on you. (Thanks Highsenberg for the idea.)
DRAG AND DROP

Official description: Rescue a Survivor from a Smoker's tongue before he takes damage.

Tactic: Very simple, when you see a smoker pulling a survivor just shoot him till he's dead.
TONGUE TWISTER

Official description: Kill a Smoker who has grabbed you with his tongue.

Tactic: When you're grabbed by a smoker, you have small window before he has you in his arms, best weapons to do this are auto shotgun, assault rifle, uzi or pump shotgun, if you're fast enough. So, once you're grabbed, start raining down bullets on him.
BRAIN SALAD

Official Description: Make 100 headshot kills.

Tactic: Aim for the head. ;)
TANKBUSTERS

Official description: Kill a Tank without it dealing any damage to a Survivor.

Tactic: Difficulty easy, any campaign, turn on subtitles and captions to see when he's around. Keep your distance and shoot, your team should do the same. He'll go down in 10-15 seconds.
BLIND LUCK

Official description: You or another Survivor take no damage after being vomited on by a Boomer.

Tactic: Once you're vomitted on by a boomer, go hide into a room or a closet and close the door. If that's not possible at the moment, move either into a corner(bots will cover you) and shove, or get to higher ground and shoot any zombie coming your way.
PYROTECHNICIAN

Official description: Blow up 20 Infected in a single explosion.

Tactic: Wait for the horde to come, you'll know it when you hear that specific sound, and throw a pipe. Or if you come into an area full of zombies, you can do it there too.
MY BODYGUARD

Official description: Protect any Survivor from an attacking Infected 50 times.

Tactic: Simply when you see a zombie approaching your teammate, shoot it. Or if a bot is picking up a fellow survivor while a horde is attacking shoot the zombies punching him. You don't have to get this in one sitting, it will come in time.
TOWERING INFERNO

Official description: Light a Tank with a Molotov.

Tactic: Self explanatory, when you see one, light him up. Avoid this on higher difficulties, lighting him up boosts his movement speed.
101 CREMATIONS

Official description: Set 101 Infected on fire.

Tactic: Wait for a horde attack, or if there's an infested area, throw the molotov to clear it. This achievement will come, it does not have to be done in one sitting. Simply use molotov every time you come across one.
HUNTER PUNTER

Official description: Shove a Hunter off of a pinned and helpless Survivor.

Tactic: When you see a hunter on top of a survivor, and when that survivor is pinned, come close and press "right click" on your mouse. That's the default shove button.
HERO CLOSET

Official description: Rescue a Survivor trapped in a closet.

Tactic: When a survivor dies, he will respawn in a closet somewhere on the map. To get this achievement simply open the closet door to free him.
NO SMOKING SECTION

Official description: Kill 10 Smokers as they are pulling helpless Survivors.

Tactic: Whenever you see a smoker pulling a survivor, shoot to kill.
NO-ONE LEFT BEHIND

Official description: Beat a campaign with all 4 Survivors.

Tactic: Set the difficulty to easy and play your preferred campaign. Just make sure that in the end everybody boards the rescue vehicle.
WITCH HUNTER

Official description: Kill a Witch without any Survivor taking damage from her.

Tactic: Grab an autoshotgun, when you see a witch, slowly approach her, and duck in front of her, you can do this by standing up too. Aim at her head, and shoot. She'll go down in 2-3 hits.
DEAD STOP

Official description: Punch a Hunter as he is pouncing.

Tactic: While the hunter is in the air, and coming down to you, shove him and you'll unlock this.
SPINAL TAP

Official description: Kill an Infected with a single blow from behind.

Tactic: Approach a zombie from behind, and shove him in the head.
BURN THE WITCH

Official description: Light a Witch with a Molotov.

Tactic: Self explanatory achievement. To prevent maximum casualty, do this on easy.
GROUND COVER

Official description: Save another Survivor from a Special Infected while on the ground.

Tactic: While you're on the ground, you'll have only your pistol(s). Use them to kill a hunter that's pounced a survivor or a smoker that's constriced one.
JUMP SHOT

Official description: Headshot a Hunter while he's leaping.

Tactic: Best weapon for the job is an assault rifle. High fire rate and magazine size. You'll need both. When you see a hunter getting ready to strike, make a couple of steps backwards, aim at his head and pull the trigger, this achievement is mostly trial and error.
CLEAN KILL

Official description: Shove a Boomer and then kill him without him splashing on anyone.

Tactic: When you see a boomer, shove him(right click) and take a few steps backwards while he's stunned and then just blast him.
STAND TALL

Official description: Survive a campaign without being incapacitated.

Tactic: Play any campaign on easy, probably the best options are either no mercy or crash course. Let the bots do the dirty work, and avoid witches if you can't cr0wn them.
DEAD GIVEAWAY

Official description: Heal a fellow Survivor when your own health is below 10.

Tactic: Either play a public campaign and wait for this to occur somewhere along the way, or try boosting it with a friend, he should shoot you until your hp drops to 10 or below. Maybe with uzi or assault rifle since you can control your fire and they only fire 1 bullet per trigger pull. Then heal him, also, waste the bots if you're doing the second option as they will attempt to heal you once your hp drops.
HELPING HAND

Official description: Revive 50 incapacitated Survivors.

Tactic: Simply, whenever a survivor is down, hold E to revive them. This will come in time, you do not have to do this in one sitting.
PHARM-ASSIST

Official description: Give pain pills to 10 Survivors.

Tactic: Yet another self explanatory achievement.
BACK 2 HELP


Official description: Leave a safe room to save an incapped teammate and bring them back safely.

Tactic: Gun down a bot until his hp is low, preferably kill the other 2 bots, and run into a saferoom. Leave any zombie you see along the way for that bot. As soon as a zombie hits him and he falls down, the higher the difficulty the better, exit the saferoom and revive him, bring him back inside and you'll unlock it.
FIELD MEDIC

Official description: Heal 25 Survivors with a first aid kit.

Tactic: This achievement will come in time, just heal a survivor whenever his health drops.
DO NOT DISTURB

Official description: Sneak past all Witches in a campaign without disturbing one.

Tactic: Play either crash course or no mercy. Whenever you see a witch, find a way to avoid her without startling her. Pray to god those bots do not startle her. And that's it, just avoid every one you come across for the entire campaign.
CR0WND

Official description: Kill a Witch with a single headshot.

Tactic: Get yourself an auto shotgun, it works with a pump too, but it's way easier doing it with auto shotgun. So, when you encounter a witch, crouch in front of her, and put your crosshairs onto her head, fire up a bullet and she will be dead.
AKIMBO ASSASSIN

Official description: Survive an entire campaign using only pistols.

Tactic: You can only use pistols and have pistols equipped. As soon as you pick up a primary weapon the achievement cancels out. Go into singleplayer and set the difficulty to easy. Play your preferred map. You can still however use bombs, such as pipes and molotovs.
MAN VS TANK

Official description: Single-handedly kill a Tank.

Tactic: Go into singleplayer and set the difficulty to easy. Load up no mercy level 2. In the options turn full captions and subtitles. As soon as you see "tank growls", switch the difficulty to expert and kill the bots, then switch it back to easy and go face the tank. Since it's on easy, you'll kill him in no time.
UNTOUCHABLES

Official description: No Survivors take damage after contacting the rescue vehicle.

Tactic: First off, enable "developer console" in the options. Load up death toll 5(boathouse finale), kick the bots with the console. Now, use the jesus rock exploit, don't forget to pick up a pipe bomb before you start the finale. Standing on the rock will despawn tanks, and only specials coming will be smokers, so get yourself either an assault or hunting rifle. Zombies may come, but most of them will be standing around the rock. Once you're done, jump into the water and move to the dock, throw the pipe as soon as you hear a horde alarm, and wait for the boat. Jesus rock picture will be down below.

TANK STUMBLE

Official description: Stun a Tank with an explosion in the Crash Course campaign.

Tactic: Play the crash course campaign(obviously) and along the way pick up and carry any propane tank you find. Once you encounter a tank, throw the propane tank next to him and blow it. He will be stunned from the explosion for a bit and you'll unlock the achievement.
ZOMBICIDAL MANIAC

Official description: Survive any campaign on Expert.

Tactic: For this part, and for any expert campaign, you should play on advanced difficulty until it becomes a joke for you, when it becomes too easy. Then move onto expert, to get this achievement, you have to play the campaign from start to finish on expert and of course you have to survive. As mentioned in the untouchables achievement, you can use the jesus rock glitch to help you get this. Form a good team and go to death toll.
UNBREAKABLE

Official description: Finish a campaign without ever using a first aid kit on yourself.

Tactic: Go into singleplayer, set the difficulty to easy and start up any campaign you want. Let bots shoot most of the time, you can even try rushing if you're confident enough. You can still use pills as they don't count as a full heal. If a bot attempts to heal you, just take out your medkit and hold it, this will cancel that attempt.
RED MIST

Official description: Kill 1000 Infected with a mounted machine gun.

Tactic: Simply use the minigun whenever you get the chance, but, to grind this, load up no mercy rooftop(campaign part 5), I would get at least 80-100 kills per round. You might grind this an hour or so if you don't have any kills from playing campaigns. You can use pipe bombs to group up zombies coming from another directions and then blast them with the minigun before the pipe explodes. You can also try this on death toll and dead air.
ZOMBIE GENOCIDEST

Official description : Kill 53,595 Infected.

Tactic: Pretty straight forward achievement. Play the game and each time try to rack up more kills, use every tool at your disposal to achieve this, either through campaigns, survival or versus. You can track how many kills you have in the game's achievements menu in game. The steam profile stats tracking is glitched and will show more kills than you actually have.

You can also download a kill farming map, here.[www.gamemaps.com]
Once downloaded, extract it from the .zip file and paste it into your game's directory addons folder. For example: SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/left 4 dead/left4dead/addons and you'll have it selectable in game. This can also be used to get the RED MIST achievement and many other kill related achievements as well.
SAFETY FIRST

Official description: Play an entire campaign with no Survivors taking friendly fire damage.

Tactic: Go into singleplayer, set the difficulty to easy and start up no mercy(mentioning no mercy a lot because it's my favorite campaign), pick up any gun you want but don't use it, shove the entire game, let bots do the dirty work of fighting tanks, witches, you name it. Now, on a sidenote, these bots are so advanced they can commit friendly fire, usually shooting gas or propane tanks, so if you see any, just throw them away in a corner, or somewhere bots will be more likely to not shoot them.
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE?

Official description: Survive all campaigns on Expert.

Tactic: Like mentioned before, start playing on expert when every other difficulty becomes too easy. Form a team of your friends, or try asking others on the discussion boards. Use every exploit and glitch at your disposal to make this easier. You only need to beat the original 4 campaigns, excluding crash course and sacrifice.
NOTHING SPECIAL

Official description: Survive a campaign with no Survivors taking damage from Special
Infected.

Tactic: Make a friends only versus lobby, either select official dedicated or host local, avoid using best available because they're mostly modded and will make this harder to achieve. Pick the crash course campaign as it is the shortest. You should start as a survivor while your friend will have the infected role. Your friend can spawn, but cannot attack or hurt you in any way. So basically you will be dealing with common infected the entire time, witch counts as a special infected and if you encounter her, either cr0wn her or bypass her. When your friend becomes the tank, he should just let you kill him without him attacking at all. Do this twice in the finale, and once the rescue vehicle opens get in and you got your achievement.
STOMACH UPSET

Official description: All Survivors complete a campaign without being vomited on.

Tactic: You need to complete a campaign without coming in contact with boomer bile at all. Best to be done on easy, in a campaign of your choice. On easy, boomers have a delay of 5-7 seconds before they vomit on survivors if spotted immediately. So, either take 'em out from afar, or shove 'em up close and then take 'em out. Doing this in single player is somewhat better because bots have auto aiming and will take out boomers pretty quickly or if you want, leave bots everything else and you focus on the boomers. Also, it's important to note, turn on subtitles in the options so that you know exactly when a boomer is nearby.
OUTBREAK

Official description: Catch a rare strain of infection, then pass it on to someone else.

Tactic: In a versus game, you need to be vomitted by a player controlled boomer that already has this achievement. Simply play versus and hope for the best, or ask for help on the discussion boards(someone always asks for this from time to time). This achievement originated from Boomers controlled by Valve developer players.
DOUBLE JUMP

Official description: Pounce two different Survivors on one life as a Hunter.

Tactic: Start a friends only versus game with obviously your friend. Have him kill 2 survivor bots and leave himself and another bot, as a hunter pounce a bot till he's dead and then pounce your friend.
CHAIN SMOKER

Official description: Constrict two Survivors on one life as a Smoker.

Tactic: Same tactic, as one used for the previous achievement "double jump".
DEAD WRECKENING

Official description: Dole out 5000 total Survivor damage as a Special Infected.

Tactic: Start 1v1 versus friends only game, you being the special and your friend being the survivor. Crash course part 2, you'll spawn as a tank in the finale, have your friend escort the bots near the car at the end of the yard, simply punch the car onto the survivors, and keep punching it until they're all dead. You can also use this to get achievements such as "All 4 Dead", "Wipefest" and "20 car pile-up".
LAMB 2 SLAUGHTER

Official description: As an Infected, incap a Survivor who has entered and left a safe room.

Tactic: In a friends only 1v1 versus game, have your friend waste 2 bots, he and another bot should enter the saferoom but not close the door. When they exit, you should attack the bot as a hunter or a smoker. You can combine this to get either "chain smoker" or "double jump".
BIG DRAG

Official description: Drag a Survivor 100 feet with your tongue as a Smoker.

Tactic: In a friends only versus game, have your friend kill 3 bots, you should approach him as a smoker until your reticle becomes red, meaning you can grab him. Slowly walk towards him and grab him as soon as reticle becomes red.
BARF BAGGED

Official description: Cover four Survivors with Boomer bile at once.

Tactic: This achievement is a bit tricky and it needs to be timed right. Obviously, friends only versus game, have you friend escort the bots to a safe room but do not close the door. In the bot's mechanics, while they're in the saferoom they're not as precise or fast at shooting as they usually are, use this and enter the saferoom and try covering all 4 of them with the bile. They should be grouped up closely but not too close.
ALL 4 DEAD

Official description: Kill all four Survivors on one life as a Tank.

Tactic: You do not have to kill all 4, you can just incap them. For this achievement view the "dead wreckening" achievement section.
SMASH HIT

Official description: Win a Versus campaign of Crash Course.

Tactic: Painfully obvious achievement. Friendly 1v1 versus campaign on crash course, whenever your friend will be playing as a survivor, he should kill himself at the start while you should beat his score however you want. Once you enter the rescue vehicle and beat him, this will unlock.
SLIPPERY PULL

Official description: Smoker pull a bile-covered Survivor until you hold him during Crash Course.

Tactic: Load up crash course friends only game, you'll need 2 friends for this. Have the player controlled survivor kill other bots, the other friend being a boomer vomitting on your friend and you should grab him with your tongue, try to be as close as possible since there will be a horde coming.
WIPEFEST

Official description: Your team incapacitates three Survivors within five seconds.

Tactic: View "dead wreckening" achievement section for the tactic.
JUMPIN' JACK SMASH

Official description: Pounce a Survivor for 25 points of damage in the Crash Course campaign.

Tactic: The tactic you will use will be linked in a video below. Video is not mine nor I claim it to be mine, it is used for educational purposes only.


TRUCK STOP

Official description: Your team wipes all Survivors after the escape vehicle has opened in Crash Course.

Tactic: Load up crash course part 2, versus friends only game, 1v1, when the second tank comes(you), kill all 3 survivor but don't touch your friend, then, have your friend kill you. Once the vehicle opens, your friend should throw a couple of pipes to fend off a horde, you will spawn as a tank again, and just simply come to him and kill him, without him entering the rescue vehicle.
SACRIFIZZLE

Official description : As a Special Infected, incap someone who is trying to sacrifice themselves.

Tactic: Friends only 1v1 versus game, load up sacrifice part 3(the port), each time your friend starts a generator you'll spawn as a tank, let him kill you all 3 times, once the final generator is set off and final tank is killed the bridge will come down. Now, at this part, when your friend presses the button for the bridge to raise up, the generator will need to be restarted, as soon as that event begins, 3 tanks will be spawned, 2 AI and you will be controlling the 3rd. As you're making your way towards your friend, there will be 2 cars in front of you, punch both cars at your friend, if none of the cars hits him, go for the old fashioned way and beat him with fists. As long as you're the one that incapped him, you will get the achievement.
20 CAR PILE-UP

Official description: As A Tank hit 20 Survivors with a car in the Crash Course campaign.

Tactic: View "dead wreckening" achievement section. You should get at least 5-6 hits per round.
BRONZE METTLE

Official description: Earn a Bronze medal in Survival mode on any official level.

Tactic: You need to survive 4 minutes to earn a bronze medal. This is very easy, and can be done solo with bots on any level.
SILVER BULLETS

Official description: Earn a Silver medal in Survival mode on any official level.

Tactic: For earning the silver medal, you need to survive 7 minutes. Best way to do this is death toll boathouse. You have a big open area and a lot of resources around to help.
VIOLENCE IS GOLDEN

Official description: Earn a Gold medal in Survival mode on any official level.

Tactic: This can easily be done on blood harvest farmhouse level, stand on the left side of the barn, near the gaping hole in the wall from which infected usually come, located on the 2nd level of the barn. Wait for the tank,when he comes do not shoot him, he will punch you and you should land on the top of the barn, usually inaccessible. Once you're there, stand either in front or behind a chimney. Hold your ground until the 10 min mark and watch for smokers.
LAST STAND

Official description: Complete one round of Survival on The Last Stand.

Tactic: You do not need to survive the round until you get a medal, simply start the event and go jump off a cliff. xD Simple as that.
DISTINGUISHED, HEROIC & LEGENDARY SURVIVOR






For the 3 of these achievements, you can use a wide variety of glitches, you can even try the legit way of recruiting fellow players and friends. First off, you can host a local server and enable developer console, you can use console to kick tanks when they spawn and other special infected making it easier for you to "earn" the medal.

bronze mettle is stuck for me with one level not counting even though I have the medal already... any fixes ?

btw you should always throw pipe bombs around 3 seconds after the horde screams because if you throw it as soon as it screams the pipe bomb will almost always explode too soon. And also zombies can climb onto the jesus rock but only from a certain angle from the front so be prepared.
