@1kW It's not a secret basement, you dig a 3 block hole in the floor place the chests down there and cover them up so you have a floor. That way pirates and thieves can't accsess your precious loot. Also, if it is for decoration, it looks like an actual house!

This house is just for decoration. Furthermore, its in a world where there's only 2 player, me and my friend. No need to worry about thieves and pirates xD. Don't get me wrong, I love secret basement, but not this building though.
