Remove Ice

Description
Modifies work boats to be able to traverse ice (and other impassable water obstacles like like Great Barrier Reef).

Creates a new consumable build action that clears ice - available after researching Steam Power. It uses the same icon as scrub fallout, because that's pretty much what it does.

Clearing Ice consumes the work boat.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ

In order to see the ice actually dissapear, you will have to save the game and reload. Otherwise, the ice will appear to be there, even though the tile has been cleared. Mousing over the tile will reveal that it is coast or ocean, and has the proper food yield.

I had hoped this would also allow for improvement of fish that spawn on GBR, but unfortunately, after testing it - you still can't improve the fish :(

Need mod that removes ice from game. At least this needs to be available at start of match not after steam power which is ridiculous.

I know this is an old mod but I just found it. Question: Do I need to built the work boat after the mod is installed? Because I just loaded an existing game with this mod enabled, but a boat that was already built in the game still cannot go into ice tiles.

I subscribed to this mod quite a while back, and I've never seen it in the mods list when I configure a game. What gives? Right now I was looking again, and ZILCH, the mod still doesn't appear. Is this meant as a joke?

I tried using this mod but it kept crashing the game before I was even able to get into the game. I even switched off all of my other mods to make sure it wasn't just a matter of interference with one of the others and it still kept crashing. If you could find a way to fix this or otherwise tellme how I might fix it that would be great.3

A few problems. First of all, it won't let me clear ice tiles that have land tiles on more than two sides. Second, I play tilted axis a lot so this is nice but it won't let me build workboats in cities that are founded in the north that have had their coasts cleared of ice so I have to keep producing boats in the south and shuttle them north which is annoying. Other than that I love this mod.

@Spoonence: I didn't even make any changes that might incline the AI to do this. If they actually do it i'd be highly amused.

There's no restrictions on where - you just have to be willing to waste the work boat.

If you are afraid of the AI clearing all ice tiles on the map (and causing global warming like the idiots they are) you should consider allowing this action inside your tiles only. Just like the farms, the pastures, the lumber mills, etc. cannot be built outside the tiles you own. Unless you've already done that, which seems clear in your screenshots. If you have, I think you have nothing to worry about.

It would be so much cooler if this was an ironclad size ice breaker unit, and the ice grew back after say 10 turns.

Their land units can. Their naval units don't get the 'motivated' promotion.

....Oh god. Flying ships...
