Playing the Robot Repair Demo without VR
To play the Aperture Robot Repair demo without a VR headset, just follow these two steps:

1. {LINK REMOVED} and copy and paste it into your \steamapps\common\The Lab\RobotRepair\bin\win64\ folder.
2. Right click on the vr.bat file you just copied and choose "edit". Change the -height and -width values to match your screen resolution and run the file!

You'll now be able to play the Robot Repair Demo without needing a VR headset.

When playing the demo, you seem to have to hold the Ctrl key whenever you interact with anything, I guess this is the replacement for the HTC Vive's interaction button. Holding Ctrl, clicking and then dragging the mouse or moving around seems to be what allows you to pull draws open, interact with levers, etc. To charge your multi-tool you can click on the base station and then press E.

Here's a full recording of the demo using this method so you can see what to expect!

Enjoy!

Here's my solution:

Go to Steam Library, click Add a Game (at the bottom), and "Add a Non-Steam game". Click Browse go to:

"C:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Lab\RobotRepair\bin\win64" and select "vr.exe"

Steam Library will have a game called "vr". Right click on it, and set the Launch Options as:

"-novr -w 1920 -h 1080" and launch the game

Once you're in-game press the tilde key (below the Esc key), and the developer console will open. Type "map vr_aperture_main" and hit enter.

You'll see a "Code Assertion Failed" window. Click "Expert Mode" in the top right and then "Ignore All Asserts".

If you want to explore the map, here are some tips:

Press the tilde key, and type the following entire command into the command bar:

" sv_cheats 1; bind v "noclip"; bind c "r_farz 0"; bind r "respawn_player "

You can now press V to toggle noclip on and off, C to disable the black fog whenever it shows up, and R if you ever die or get stuck. Enjoy!
