In FC, players are able to fish only once, at the Valleria Lake in Bose, which is slightly disappointing for some. Falcom heard those feedbacks and improved the fishing gameplay. However after released, players also complained it is too complicated and time consuming. Thus, it is changed again in the future series but that is for another day.
Ripples in various waterbody can be spotted throughout Liberl, these are the fishing spot. Using fishing rods and baits obtainable in game, player can catch different species of fish at these spots. While progressing the story from chapter 1 to 5 and 8, player can fish anytime. Thus player can either go fishing periodically or start fishing in chapter 8 when the game opens up most areas with no restriction and better fishing rod is available.
Complete the Fishing Book is not a main nor a side quest, player can still complete the game without even fishing once. However, fishing can be rewarding. Fish drop various accessories, healing items, sepiths which is helpful towards the end game. Some fishes may also split out ingredients that can be use for food recipe. Unfortunately, there are no recipe that turn these fishes into food. They are either a bait for bigger fish or turn into mira.

There seems to be alignment issue viewing from web browser and steam app browser and screen size. I have no idea how to fix unless I change the whole table. The following are affected: Fishes 1~10 Rege to Reward, Fishes 11~20 Rege to Reward, Grancel fishing spot to description.

• Fishing rod have very specific way and time frame of obtaining it while the bait can only be obtain by monster drop in the early stage. Baits are purchasable from the Fisherman's Guild in Grancel, 100 mira each for all types, after catching the Legendary fish in the game. There is no prerequisite to catching the Legend other than been at the right spot, the right rod to use the right bait, right time.
  
• Fishing rod has no effect what fish can be caught, it only extend the period of time to react, but not a lot. Only bait matters. However, each fishing rod can only use certain type of baits. Only Aqua Master can use all types of bait. Each bait has a higher chance to caught certain fish than others. Do try different bait if one doesn't work well.
  
• Remember to save before fishing if you have very little bait and looking for specific fish and size.
• While fishing, put on Heal and Ingenuity quartz to recover HP EP. Can help to save some mira from going hotel.
  
• If still having trouble catching fish, try turning off background BGM. High chance that you are following the music rhythm than the "!" sound.
  
• Check your monster guide to find out which monster drop baits.

RECOMMENDATION
Upon arrival, meet Lloyd again during questioning to learn fishing. Gamble and win big for a new fishing rod. Start by fishing in the town. Travel down South with Dorothy to the 2 fishing spot when taking photos. Then travel North for the rest of the spots. Come back another day for Mahi-Mahi and Blue Marlin due to rod limitation.

RECOMMENDATION
Proceed to Tratt Plains Road to find a new fishing rod that is waiting inside a chest. Travel around the region as per normal, all the spots are available along the way. Come back another day for Garvelze due to rod limitation.

REMINDER
Kaldia Tunnel River is NOT available in chapter 8.

RECOMMENDATION
Remember to find NPC Norche for a new rod. There are no new fish worth going places to catch if caught all fishes in the previous 2 region. Save energy for the next region. Of course, if you happen to walk pass, by all means fish as you like.

Grancel Port will not be available after kidnap event. Available again in chapter 8.

This is under the assumption that there is a fishing spot that have all the fish, using the bait will result in the following catch rate. This may or may not applies to you due to luck. Adjust accordingly to your own.

With the assume catch rate, calculate against the region you are in and the fishes available to find the best fishing location for the particular fish you want near you.

• There is a store that sell Sepith in Grancel in Chapter 8. 3000 mira per 100 Sepith for Earth Water Fire Wind Time type, 6000 mira per 100 Mirage Sepith, 9000 mira per 100 Space Sepith.
  
• Arseille has the highest converting Sepith to mira rate. If confident, trade away excessive during chapter 7 before the last tower boss battle. If crazy enough, trade away ALL, then buy the desired at Grancel. The next highest is Bose.
  
• Also consider Sepith needed to unlock slots for 6 characters that will join in chapter 9. Each slot can cost anywhere from 60~300 per Sepith type
  
• Each weapon type cost 9000 mira in chapter 9. They are not the second highest damage weapon in the game.
