Overwatch Disrespects Concealment

Beskrivning
WotC Version: http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1132062876

A.K.A. the Anti-Jake Solomon Maneuver

Removes the condition against firing from concealment for all reaction fire abilities in the game.

Initial Release: 3/11/2016

This mechanic was very annoying to me, so I changed it.

Compatibility:
There shouldn't be any conflicts with other mods. I'm not directly modifying the default templates or anything, just ducking in and editing them after they've been created.

For a slightly different take on Overwatch rules that still allows reaction fire abilities to fire from concealment but also applies the standard reaction fire aim penalty, check out Overwatch Ignores Concealment instead:

Does the mod still work with WoTC? Really would like to actually have control of when my guys will fire again, great mod that improves the game.

this just ruins the game - makes it way to easy.

Probably just need to insert a requirement in overwatch for the same Eventistener as the other attacks. I'd hope it was that rather than having to edit the Listener to include overwatches, cause that would suck.

Yes, that's certainly possible, Martial.Lore. This mod does indeed cause Overwatch to fire from concealment.
Martial.Lore 15 mar, 2016 @ 13:21
Does this trigger overwatch from concealment before an alien pod is activated? If so, it would defeat the purpose of concealment altogether due to soldiers with automatic overwatch abilitiies, messing up potential ambushes before the player is ready.

Thanks for your feedback; that's a really good point, Beagle.
Beagle 11 mar, 2016 @ 21:40
(or making it an option so people who don't want that don't complain, I suppose)

One quick thing that might help balance this for standard play - the 'no reaction fire penalty' faucet of concealment is probably too much combined with how convenient this makes ambushes as you're essentially making it 6 free 100% to hit shots. Removing that is probably a good idea.
Beagle 11 mar, 2016 @ 20:12
Interesting! I'm going to try and balance around having this enabled, thank you.

Yup, this will be applied after ability templates are loaded, and it will affect anything marked as a "reaction fire" ability, which is an indicator the game uses for applying the reaction fire penalty.

That means it will change the mechanics for:

- Overwatch
- Pistol Overwatch
- Long Watch
- Killzone
- Bladestorm
- Return Fire (not that it should matter)
- Additional Overwatch shots granted by abilities
- Custom reaction fire abilities from other mods
