This map is obviously based on the Nile river delta, scaled down.

Here, you have plenty of vegetation for forestry and fertile land to use, and ore and oil can be found on neighbouring tiles to the starting one.

All outside connections are available as well, even ships can reach the city through one of the wider parts of the delta itself.
