Introduction

This guide will show you how to fix the issue encountered when trying to play the game with a gamepad. Also, I will show you how to fix the "Can't change control mode" bug.

How to?

1. Fix for "Gamepad not working": Download this [s.go.ro] file and extract it to your "Jurassic Park: The Game" install folder. The password for the download link is 760049 This file was posted by a mod on the "Telltale forums". You can also get this file from a "Windows 7" install DVD if you have one lying around and possibly be able to download it from Microsoft's website.

2. Fix for "Can't change control mode": This bug can be fixed via the Registry Editor in Windows OS.

a.) Open the Registry Editor:

Windows Vista and later : open the Start screen / Start menu, type regedit and press ↵ (Enter).
Windows XP: press ⊞ (Win) + R, type regedit and press ↵ (Enter).

b.) Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\JPGameplay".

c.) Set your control mode:

For keyboard and mouse, set InputSelect to 1 and Controls to true.

For controller, set InputSelect to 0 and Controls to false.

d.) Repeat as needed to change modes.

The Result

After you've correctly followed the above steps for the two game fixes that I have explained, your gamepad should work flawlessly from now on, but keep in mind that you still need a mouse and a keyboard to navigate your way through the game's main menu!

My used setup for these Fixes

These fixes worked for me and this is what gamepad and OS I have used:

- Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad;

- Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

I got my controller a wired pdpGaming Xbox controller to work with the game in February 2022 and am kicking myself for not posting what I did.

I believe I skipped step 1 and just did step 2 - the registry edit. I followed the instructions up to step "c" but I had to manually create a new registry "string value" and replace the "InputSelect" with the one I created because it wouldn't let me change the value to "0"
I was able to change "Controls" to "false" without an issue.

YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO DO THIS!!!!! (but I did and it worked)

To do this: follow the OP instructions

a.) Open the Registry Editor:

Windows Vista and later : open the Start screen / Start menu, type regedit and press ↵ (Enter).
Windows XP: press ⊞ (Win) + R, type regedit and press ↵ (Enter).

b.) Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\JPGameplay".

Set "Controls to "false"

Now to create a new registry "string value" right click on the right part of the registry edit window (the big side) mouse over "New" and left click on "String Value" this will create a new "REG_SZ" entry.

Name the new entry "InputSelect" (without the quotations)

To change value to "0") Right-click the new "InputSelect" select "Modify" under "Value Entry" type "0" (without the quotations)

Delete the old (Original) "inputSelect" entry. Right click it and left click "delete". Agree to the warnings.

and THAT'S IT!!!!

Hopefully I remembered everything correctly and this helps someone out there.

I'm very sorry, but my fix is for Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad only :( though it should work on other gamepads :)

I installed the dll and it doesn't work. I have a Speedlink XEOX Gamepad Wired and didn't become any chance to play with it. In every other game i can use the controller but not in JP: The Game. I also tried this with the registry but it doesn't still work. Do you know something that i can do?
