Finding The Directory
The default path in Windows 10, 7, and Vista to which Chronicon saves data is:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Chronicon

You can find it by copy pasting the link in explorer (remember to change the USERNAME to your username on the PC!), or by hitting the windows key to bring up the start menu. In the start menu, type this in the search field and hit Enter: %LOCALAPPDATA%

Now simply find the folder called "Chronicon" and there you go!

Check out the "Directory Contents" section to learn about what everything is.
Directory Contents
In the Chronicon directory to which you are about to navigate you will find the following items:

  • A temp folder
  • A save folder
  • A screenshot folder
  • A config file

The temp folder should always be empty when the game isn't running. This is where dungeon data is kept while you're playing. If you experience that dungeons persists between sessions or characters (monsters remain dead, loot on the ground), you should delete this folder to clear the data. If you get load screen crashes following an update, this data should also be cleared. Note: The game normally clears this data automatically, but there are rare cases where it won't.

The save folder is where your characters, stash, keybinds, loot filters, and general progression is saved. If you want to delete something manually, you need to have the game running in the background, as Chronicon uses Steam Cloud. This means that if you delete something from the folder and then launch the game, Steam will re-download it again.

You can safely copy and paste keybind and loot filter files into their related folders. This way you can easily share them with friends!

The screenshot folder is where are screenshots go. These are not synced with Steam Cloud.

The config file, called "options.cfg", is where all settings are saved, such as resolution, interference options, volume, etc. This file can be edited manually but it is not recommended, as it is rather sensitive and incorrect edits will cause crashes. If you break something you can safely delete this file, as a new will be generated on startup if it is missing.

Please note: There is also a config file in the Steam directory. This is the "default settings" file, and editing this will have no effect on the game, as the one in the app data folder is what is read from.

Something to note here is that you can set your windowed resolution to whatever you want in the config file, should your preferred setting not be in the menus.
