POINT OF NO RETURN
The following portion will forever lose access to the World of Balance, the world as we know it now. So when flying to the Floating Continent, make sure to have the following things below COMPLETED, before leave.
  • Bestiary: #001-#046
  • Bestiary: #103-#152
  • Bestiary: #159
  • Bestiary: #228-234
  • Boss Bestiary: #001
  • Boss Bestiary: #011-018
  • Boss Bestiary: #035-049
  • Tips: Do not bring Celes along with your party as she will become a required character later on in the story. Then you need another slot for Shadow. So bringing Celes + 4 total party members will force you to play with 3 party members down the stretch which as you may imagine, not in your favor.
  • Tips: Stock up Hi-Potions and Ethers, and whatever other items you know you'll often use. You won't visit a shop for a good amount of time and should be prepared for the worst.
  • Tips: Because Shadow is imminent, you'll need to purchase him equipment. Don't forget the scrolls or shurikens for him.

Airship
  • Whenever you're ready to go to the Floating Continent, simply go to the wheel of the Blackjack Airship, and choose to ascend to the Floating Continent and leave behind the World of Balance.
  • Bestiary #153: Sky Armor | Yellow One
  • Bestiary #154: Spitfire | Orange One
  • You'll fight four battles (at least) with menu access in between each fight followed by a boss fight which follows that up one by another boss fight.
  • Boss Bestiary #019: Ultros
  • Boss Bestiary #050: Typhon
  • After you defeat both of them, you'll be swept off the airship and into an aerial boss fight and you are gracefully healed to max somehow, so don't worry about healing.
  • Boss Bestiary #051: Air Force
  • Boss Bestiary #052: Laser Gun
  • Boss Bestiary #053: Missile Bay
  • Boss Bestiary #054: Bit | Missable if you kill the Air Force and Laser Gun simultaneously. Spawns when the laser gun is destroyed. Not needed for Gau's Rage

  • Go north, up the stairs, and northwest to find another switch. Stand on it. It'll create a shortcut to the south. Take that shortcut.

  • Treasure: Beret | Ignore the path that just opened up. Go to the east and you'll find a blue orb with this inside.
  • Take the path south and go through the warp platform to the south. You'll find a save point. Heal and save as needed.
  • Bestiary #235: Dragon | You should probably find an encounter with this before moving on to the north.

  • After that rather short boss fight, go over to the east onto a ledge. The airship will come. DO NOT LEAVE. PICK WAIT! • Bestiary #083: Knotty
  • Treasure: X-Ether | Take the middle doorway and head north then west for a chest.
  • Return to first room. Take west door. DO NOT WALK STRAIGHT FROM THE STAIR TO THE DOOR. There's a pitfall tile 1 tile southeast from the doorway. Go to the first tile off the stairs, go right, up two, then left all the way.
  • QUICKSAVE HERE.
  • Bestiary #102: Tonberries | The monster in the box is triple tonberries. You'll need 1 or 2 constant healers while dishing out a lot of damage. If any of the tonberries get near you, that's a dead teammate you have to revive.

  • Bone Carver

  • Bestiary #080: Tonberry | There is a difference between this and Tonberries. On the other hand, the single tonberry is MUCH stronger than anything else due to its double-counter. Recommended that you come back later to fight this. It counters with knife and traveler back to back everytime it gets hit. You can cast imp on it to prevent it from using Traveler, but it'll land critical physical attacks in exchange. Possibly use Fenrir then out damage it.

  • Go downstairs to the lava area. Go northwest and stand on the switch here.
  • Treasure: Empty Chest | To the left

  • Boss Bestiary #068: Red Dragon | Confuse him
  • Treasure: Dragon Horn | Chest up the stairs near the dragon
  • Go back up north and go up the stairs. Go northwest to the switch and step on it. SWAP
  • Party 2 will now go downstairs, then head west and follow that path down to the now steaming lava level. You can walk on it, but you will take some damage each step.
  • Treasure: Ribbon | Chest in the middle of the room.

Overworld - Recruiting Gogo
  • Head to the small island on the very northeast corner of the map. Here, you're looking to battle the Zone Eater. Let it inhale your entire party.
  • There are multiple zone eaters, so don't worry if you killed one.

Zone Eater's Belly - Recruiting Gogo
  • Once you've been inhaled, you'll be inside of its belly. To exit the belly, simply go north and stand in the light to be ejected (like a whale), else go south.

  • Bestiary #193: Wartpuck
  • Bestiary #194: Shambling Corpse
  • Bestiary #253: Kamui
  • In the next room, go west and you'll see platforms with patrols. If a patrol hits you, you get knocked down to the lower level which you have to do for some goodies. Get knocked off.
  • Treasure: Hi-Ether | Get knocked off the platform
  • Treasure: Red Jacket | Get knocked off the platform
  • Bestiary #192: Convert | Can be found down here

  • Treasure: Zephyr Cloak | First chest in the Squash minigame

  • In this room, go south then west, jump across the chest, then take the north route jumping over two chests. Then go east then south and jump to the switch. Step over the switch to extend some platforms. Then jump off to the right back to the first bridge.
  • Treasure: Thunder Shield | Now jump over the first chest, continue west. Follow this singular path until you reach a chest.
  • Return to the 3 way platform and go north to the door to the next area.
  • If you've followed this guide, you should unlock two achievements.
  • In the Belly of the Beast
    You found and befriended Gogo.

  • Hang on, Old Man!
You brought all the characters together.

Magicite Hunting

  • Magicite: Alexander
  • Magicite: Odin/Raiden
  • Magicite: Bahamut
  • Magicite: Ragnarok
  • Magicite: Leviathan
  • Magicite: Cactuar
  • Magicite: Gilgamesh

The Solitary Island - Magicite: Quetzalli
  • Return to the Solitary Island where you woke up with Cid. It's the southwest island on its own.
  • Go to the beach, by heading south, and you'll see the magicite on the beach.

Castle Doma - Magicite: Alexander
  • Go to section 'Sword Master: Cyan's Bushido' and obtain his final Bushido before returning here.
  • In the final scene in Castle Doma, you'll notice the magicite on the throne. So in real life, head to the throne room of Castle Doma.

Ancient Castle - Magicite: Odin/Raiden
  • Return to Figaro Castle, you last left it near Kohlinger.
  • Go to the engine room to move it back towards the Figaro region only to have it get stuck at a Cave to the Ancient Castle.
  • Head up the stairs and go straight east to the prison. Take the doorway at the back of the east prison cell to enter the cave.
  • Bestiary #089: Figaro Lizard
  • Bestiary #204: Devil
  • Bestiary #205: Enuo
  • Treasure: Hi-Ether | Simply head east then southeast then south to find this chest
  • Treasure: Wing Edge | From the prev. chest, go west then it'll be to your south.
  • Return to the Hi-Ether chest and take that door to your right.
  • Boss Bestiary #003: Master Tonberry | Oddly, this boss is easier than the regular Tonberry if you ask me. It's a monster-in-a-box
  • Treasure: Gladius | Reward from the Monster-in-a-box
  • Head north and take the door near the Wing Edge chest over to the west.
  • Treasure: Death Tarot | By following the linear path, you'll pass a chest that's on the lower level.
  • Go back south a bit and head west (might be deceiving to see, but a hallway is clearly there). Head north then northwest to the next area.
  • Treasure: X-Potion | Go southwest of the stairs to find a chest.
  • Treasure: Magicite Shard | Head south to find another chest
  • Now take those stairs we skipped to the next place.
  • ========================================================================
  • Beautiful little line to separate that you're no longer in the cave and made it to the actual castle
  • After some scenes, go north, but don't enter the main gate doors. There's two doors to the west of that. Enter any of them and you'll fight a boss battle.
  • Boss Bestiary #029: Samurai Soul
  • Treasure: Master Scroll | Monster-in-a-box; see above
  • Treasure: Punisher | East door at the main gate
  • Bestiary #088: Lunatys

  • Magicite: Odin | Now examine Odin's statue to receive the magicite. However, there's another one we have to pick up here. So sit tight.
  • Head to the middle of the room, go east. You should spot a hallway to the right with a doorway. Go there.
  • Treasure: X-Ether | Examine the bucket in this room
  • Examine the sparkly thing to read the Queen's Diary.
  • Return to the throne room. Stand on the eastern throne. Walk south 5 tiles, then you'll have something to examine. It's pretty much where the long carpet starts. Examining it will open something up. Return to the room to the east with the diary.
  • Head downstairs.
  • DRAGON SEAL #4
  • Boss Bestiary #069: Blue Dragon
  • Magicite: Raiden | At the very top, examine the queen to transform the Odin magicite into Raiden. And no, Odin's Meteor is not missed as other magicites have this spell. Then Odin's Level-Up bonus as +1 speed. Raiden's Level-up bonus is +2 strength.
  • This area will always be revisitable by moving Figaro Castle
Walkthrough: Part 11
Overworld - Magicite: Bahamut
  • This is a rather annoying one. You have to defeat a boss known as 'Deathgaze' who is an invisible world map boss. He has 55,000 health and you have to find him 3-4 times.
  • Using your airship Falcon, the airship automatically points north. Tap the left OR right direction so you slightly tilt your ship like 0.5 degrees. Now accelerate. This will help your airship touch EVERY SINGLE TILE in the world map. All 4096 tiles. Deathgaze is occupying one of these tiles, EXCEPT the fact that he's INVISIBLE. So you'll just keep flying straight until a battle starts.
  • You'll have to keep finding him everytime he flees. His spot changes after he flees. His spot will also change if you land your ship.
  • After defeating him, you'll receive the Bahamut magicite.
Wish You Were Here - You defeated Deathgaze.

Narshe - Magicite: Ragnarok
  • First off, make sure you have Locke in your party.
  • Next, make your way to Narshe. It's northern most continent and in the middle.
  • Go to the weapon shop. Locke will unlock it.
  • Head into the back and talk to the old man.
  • Magicite: Ragnarok | DO NOT TURN IT INTO A SWORD, YOU CAN GET RAGNAROK WEAPONS LATER
  • Treasure: Cursed Shield | From the weapon shop, head north and go up the stairs to the slight right and have Locke unlock another door. Go inside and talk to the old man in bed.
  • Side Note: Completing 250 battles alive with the Cursed Shield (while not as Gogo) will turn it into the Paladin Shield which absorbs Fire, Ice, Thunder and Holy and nullifies all other elements, increase defenses, increase evasions, and has the Ultima magic (100AP).

Nikeah/South Figaro - Magicite: Leviathan
  • If you're confident in your characters, easy fight.
  • Else bring, some water nullifying/absorption equipment.
  • Take the ferry in between the two cities, it'll be stopped by Leviathan and an underwater battle ensues.
  • Boss Battle #074: Leviathan
  • You'll receive the magicite after the battle.

Maranda - Magicite: Cactuar
  • Talk to the guy to the left inside Maranda and he'll mention Cactuars in the desert.
  • Go to the Overworld and beat up Cactuars in the desert. 10 to be exact.
  • Bestiary #073: Cactuar
  • Bestiary #248: Slagworm
  • Go southwest part of the desert then you'll find something your more your size.
  • Boss Bestiary #073: Gigantuar | This boss HITS LIKE A TANK.
  • You'll want to keep your party healthy when dealing the final hit. He will cast 1000 Needles 10x as his death sequence. So you may want some high health players as well.
  • You'll receive the magicite after the battle.

Dragon's Neck Coliseum - Magicite: Gilgamesh
  • Before doing anything, I recommend farming up to 1,000,000 gil for the achievement. This can be done at the previous location where you fought Slagworms and Cactuars that drop a ridiculous 10,000 gil each.
  • Fun to Save, Fun to Use
You accumulated over 1 million gil.

  • Now that you have 1 million gil, we're going to spend 500,000 on Excalipoor at the Auction House in Jidoor. Jidoor is northwest of Maranda and the cactuars on the same continent. Not the northern most city but under it.
  • When at the auction house, make sure you talk to the guy in front to the right who mentions the 'rare sword' being auctioned. Otherwise, Excalipoor will never show up in the auction house. The sword costs 500,00 gil by the way.
  • Once you've got the sword, head to the Coliseum up on the northwest continent.
  • If you want to steal Genji Shield and Gloves off Gilgamesh, bring Locke.
  • Simply bet the Excalipoor and your opponent will be Gilgamesh himself.
  • Boss Bestiary #075: Gilgamesh

Masterful Mastership!: Sabin's Blitz
  • Sabin gets his last Blitz at level 70; however, there is another way to get that Blitz prior to then which makes Sabin's level requirement just 42 now.
  • So get to level 42 for the first set of Blitz.
  • Sabin's final blitz can be obtained by going to Duncan's House with Sabin in your party.
  • From Narshe, go northeast on the same continent. South of the mountains here, you should notice five trees in a + shape. Duncan's house is in the middle tree.
  • Upon walking into the door, you'll be greeted by Duncan and a scene occurs with you ending up with the final Blitz: Phantom Rush
  • Masterful Mastership!
You learned all of Sabin's "Blitz" commands.

An Uncommon Wizard: Strago's Lores

  • Bestiary #252: Vasegiatta

  • Bestiary #072: Leap Frog
  • Lore: Tsunami | Enuo | Cave to the Ancient Castle
  • ================================================

  • Do any 10 battles you want, I'll list all the possible items used/results in its own section. See that section if you're interested.
  • Gateway to the Top
You racked up 10 wins at the Coliseum.

Ebot's Rock
  • Bring Strago and Relm and head to Thamasa (Southeast island)
  • From here, pass between the armor and item shop to initiate a scene where you can go to Ebot's Rock.
  • With the airship, land on the mountains north of Thamasa. Strago is required for this, but you don't have to bring Relm.

  • If you somehow did NOT get this, simply talk to Gungho for a 1.25% chance of respawning Hidon and thus being able to attempt to get Grand Delta once more. Gungho will mention that Hidon has reappeared when it works.

  • Bestiary #100: Metal Hitman | Factory
  • Of the two pipes, take the the left one.
  • Treasure: Force Shield (Party 2) | You'll be outside and go west for a chest.
  • Treasure: Ribbon (Party 2) | Go south then take the west doorway. Here go south for a chest.
  • Stand on the switch, to allow Party 1 to progress, however, go back outside.

  • Treasure: Pinwheel (Party 1) | On the way to where you want to go
  • SPLIT POINT | Whichever team Strago is on, make him go west.
  • Continue until you enter the door opened by the two other parties and go step on the switch inside. Now, make sure that Strago ends up in the party that goes on the LEFT switch.
  • If he's in Party 1, simply move Party 1 to the left switch.
  • If he's in Party 2, then you messed up.
  • If he's in Party 3, then move Party 1 to the right switch, then move Party 3 to the left switch, leaving Party 2 on the middle switch.
  • I will now designate each party as "Left Party", "Middle Party", and "Right Party" as your combination could be different. This will alleviate the confusion for this portion.
  • SWAP TO MIDDLE PARTY | After stepping on the middle switch, go SOUTH to end up above the doorway you entered before to activate a switch. This will open up doors on both adjacent balconies so Left Party and Right Party can advance later on.
  • Head back north and through the door.
  • Boss Bestiary #080: Guardian
  • After the fight, save and heal up. Head north in a linear path.

  • Save, heal up. Proceed to the switch.
  • SWAP TO RIGHT PARTY
  • Linear path. Not much to say.
  • Boss Bestiary #082: Goddess
  • Save, heal up. Proceed to the switch.
  • This is the final save spot.
  • I won't spoil much, but you'll be fighting 4 bosses in a row and using all 12 characters you brought with you. 4 at a time. Their slots are numbered 1-12. You'll start on characters 1-4. If you beat the first battle and 1 player is unable to fight, then the person in the 5 slot will take their spot in the following battle and so forth.
  • If all 4 players are rendered unable to fight (KO, Petrification, Zombie) at the same time, then battle results in a game over.
  • Personally, just use all your main characters in a single party to blow past the fights will little damage taken.
  • First Fight
  • Boss Bestiary #084: Short Arm
  • Boss Bestiary #085: Long Arm
  • Boss Bestiary #086: Visage

  • Balance is Restored
    You finished the game.
Walkthrough: Part 14
Dragon's Den
In order to enter Dragon's Den, you MUST have unlocked the Dragon Seal by defeating all 8 Dragons in the game. I'll list them under for your convenience. Two easy ways to know if you've cleared out the 8 dragons. Check inventory if you have the Crusader magicite, or simply try to enter Dragon's Den.
  • Dragon #1: Storm Dragon | Mt. Zozo
  • Dragon #2: Ice Dragon | Narshe Northern Mines
  • Dragon #3: Red Dragon | Phoenix Cave
  • Dragon #4: Blue Dragon | Ancient Castle
  • Dragon #5: Holy Dragon | The Cultists' Tower
  • Dragon #6: Earth Dragon | Opera House
  • Dragon #7: Gold Dragon | Kefka's Tower
  • Dragon #8: Skull Dragon | Kefka's Tower

Starting
  • Location: The Dragon's Den is located on the small island just north of the Coliseum. There are two of them, it's the western one.
  • Secondly, it's a three party dungeon, which means you'll have to split up your party. I recommend putting your strongest party as Party 3. Then your second strongest as Party 1. Party 2 only fights a single boss, and you can throw Mog in there with the Molulu's Charm to disable any random encounters.
  • Landing on the island will prompt the party selection and follows it up by a drop to Dragon's Den.

Seal of Ice
  • With Party 1, use the right door. Go east all the way then go up the stairs. On the way here, you will see a staircase blocked by a bluish-pinkish star which is the Seal of Ice. Remember this location.
  • Go north and follow the left path. Go up the stairs at the northwest of this area and you'll find a dragon.
  • Boss: Ice Dragon | Party 1 | 32,000 HP
  • Just a small note, he will end up using mirror image to make three copies of himself and you have to defeat all three copies. So focus on one dragon at a time or use area of effect attacks.
  • Seal of Ice has been removed.

Seal of Wind
  • Continuing with Party 1, head north and then into the doorway to enter the 'Flame Labyrinth'.
  • Treasure: Hi-Either | Take the path to the east for a chest.
  • Return to the staircase that had a Seal of Ice blocking it. (Leave the Flame Labyrinth through the door. Go down two sets of stairs. Go west, then take the first staircase you see north.
  • Follow the path up the staircase, and you'll be in that room with the two Seal of Ice that were removed. Stand on the switch to open the middle door.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Take the western cave entrance, then enter the middle door that Party 1 just opened.
  • You'll be in the Flame Labyrinth. Head north to a switch and stand on it.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Follow Party 2 into the Flame Labyrinth.
  • Treasure: Rename Card | Rocks have emerged to access the chest to the right
  • Leave the caverns, take the right cave entrance that Party 1 took. Follow the path all the way passed the Ice Dragon and into the Flame Labyrinth. Take the southwest path and stand on the switch.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Move Party 2 south and out of the Flame Labyrinth so Party 1 can move off the switch.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 1
  • Exit the caverns through the south, then take the western cave entrance. You should be in the same room with the 3 doors. Take the eastern door to enter the Flame Labyrinth.
  • Follow the path until you see a rock to the north. Jump across it to another platform and stand on the switch here.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Enter the western door in the room with 3 doors, and go all the way north, then east, then south. Jump south across the stepping stones and stand on the switch.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Get Party 3 to where Party 2 is. Circle around to the left and take the stepping stones to fight the Storm Dragon.
  • Boss: Storm Dragon | Party 3 | 62,000 HP
  • Seal of Wind has been removed.

Seal of Earth
  • Continuing with Party 3
  • Go west passed Party 2. Enter the building to the west.
  • Go north for another boss fight.
  • Boss: Earth Dragon | Party 3 | 58,000 HP
  • Seal of Earth has been removed.

Seal of Water
  • Continuing with Party 3, head south to the door you just entered from. Then go east. Path will diverge north-northeast. Follow it until you find a door. Take the door to enter the Flame Labyrinth
  • Treasure: Elixir | Go left and up the steps for a chest. Leave the Flame Labyrinth through the same staircase.
  • Continue east in the caverns then take the northern door to the Shrine of Serenity where you can heal, save, and even switch party members.
  • For the swap portion below, I'm still going to keep Party 3 as my strongest party.
  • ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO MIX PARTY: SWAP TO PARTY 1
  • ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO MIX PARTY: Head north up the stepping stones twice, then head east to the staircase and exit the Flame Labyrinth. Head eat to the Shrine of Serenity.
  • ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO SWAP PARTY: SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO MIX PARTY: Follow the path that Party 3 took to the west to the Shrine of Serenity.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 1 | Put Party #1 on the switch outside of the Shrine of Serenity
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Go south across the wooden bridge activated by the switch. Take one steps down, then you should notice the Seal of Earth being broken at the staircase in this area. You'll be in Dragon Temple.
  • Go north and ride the turtle north. You'll see a red switch here. Use it. Head up the stairs for a boss fight.
  • Boss: Blue Dragon | Party 3 | 57,000 HP
  • Seal of Water has been removed.

Seal of Fire
  • Continuing with Party 3
  • Return to the Shrine of Serenity
  • Head east and down the stairs and into the doorway to return to the Flame Labyrinth.
  • Head west, then ignore this staircase for now.
  • Treasure: Magicite Shard | Head south and take the first south path. Go to the very bottom and look to the right and examine the wall
  • Treasure: Teleport Stone | Continue along the other path, pass a switch, then south to find a chest.
  • Return to the ignored staircase for another boss fight. I should probably warn you, focus EVERYONE on keeping EVERYONE alive. Red Dragon cannot be damaged. It turns to a ghost and goes on to kill you.
  • Bolstering Defenses, Casting Reraise, Healing are your focus. After a period of time, the Red Dragon will die on its own.
  • Boss: Red Dragon | Party 3 | N/A HP
  • Seal of Fire has been removed.
Walkthrough: Part 15
Seal of Darkness
  • Continuing with Party 3
  • Treasure: Megaelixir | Enter the room, then head right into the secret passage to access the chest.
  • You'll recall that switch you passed before picking up the Teleport Stone. Go to that switch and stand on it.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Go back to the very beginning of the caverns to the room with 3 doors. Take the left door to enter the Flame Labyrinth. Now, along the path north, you can enter a doorway previously blocked by a Seal of Water. Enter it.
  • Treasure: X-Potion | Go right and up for a chest
  • Treasure: Remedy | Head west then north for another chest
  • Bring Party 2 to Party 3
  • Go north of Party 3 and stand on the switch here.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 1
  • Go to the same area here, and take the now opened right path. Go north and up the stairs to enter the Grand Caverns.
  • Head north, ignoring all paths leading right, until you can't go north anymore. Go through the northern doorway to find a save point and party point. This is the Shrine of Repose.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Bring them to Shrine of Repose, save, heal up.
  • Leave, then take the doorway to the west. This is the Inner Eye Labyrinth. If you want to bring Party 2 here, go west onto the switch and then move Party 2 north to the Inner Eye Labyrinth. Rest is self-explanatory.
  • Go east then north until you hit a fork.
  • Treasure: X-Potion | Take the south route at the fork, and follow it down and there's a chest to your right.
  • Go north from the fork to see a 4 ton weight above a switch. Push it to reveal a rock.
  • Go west, then north until you see two lava pits. Stand in between them and look north to find something you can examine. It triggers a door somewhere.
  • Return to Grand Caverns. Go south, then take the right path to some bridges. At the first fork, go east and follow that path. It's linear so no decision making. Ignore the doorway up north for now and head west.
  • You'll be at the bridge jumping minigame again but longer.
  • Important Note: If you get knocked off, skip down to the next section 'Cloister of Trials'
  • Treasure: Celestriad | At the bridge jumping game, go as far right as you can so when you run down, you run down the stairs. The chest is at the end of this path. It makes all magic castings cost 1 MP.
  • Go back to the bridge and progress as normal. Now the part with the short path right and the long path left. The left is a dead end. You want to be on the right side.
  • Jump up to the right to safety. Then you'll have 3 safe jumps before you get two long platforms guarded. You'll want to stay on the first bridge and head left.
  • Treasure: Elixir | After passing the left guard by jumping up, following him, then down to the left platform, you can access the chest.
  • Head north from here the north up the second staircase.
  • Treasure: X-Ether | On the linear path, you'll find a chest
  • Head east, then south downstairs along the linear path to the southeast to east. Here, you'll find a ton of stairs. They all lead to one spot. Go up to find the boss fight.
  • Boss: Skull Dragon | Party 3 | 14,000 MP

Cloister of Trials
  • Continuing with whatever party you fell with, Party 3 most likely.
  • If you fall at any point in the Grand Caverns, you will be down here. If you made it to the Skull Dragon without falling, then go fall intentionally.
  • Follow the linear path to a blue flame. Boss Fight.
  • Boss Bestiary #278: Earth Eater | Party 3 | 36,000 HP
  • Continue down the path until you reach a fork. For Bestiary purposes, we're going both ways to fight both bosses.
  • Go east for the Malboro Menace. Careful, it multiplies.
  • Boss Bestiary #280: Malboro Menace | Party 3 | 15,000 HP
  • Go back to the fork and go south then east.
  • Boss Bestiary #279: Gargantua | Party 3 | 30,000 HP
  • The previous east and south path will converge. Now you get to pick between left and right. Again, for bestiary purposes, we're going for both.
  • Left Path
  • Boss Bestiary #281: Dark Behemoth | Party 3 | 38,000 HP
  • Right Path
  • Boss Bestiary #282: Abyss Worm | Party 3 | 34,000 HP
  • Both paths will converge to the west and then you can head north into the light to exit.
  • If you haven't beaten the Skull Dragon, go back up and do so. Otherwise, continue on this guide.

Seal of Heaven
  • Continuing with Party 3
  • Head back to the Shrine of Repose, save and heal up.
  • Go back out and go west to the Inner Eye Labyrinth. Head west and step on the switch.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • You can finally move off that switch if you haven't from the Flame Labyrinth. Go north into the Inner Eye Labyrinth.
  • Jump across the rock.
  • Treasure: Force Armor | Head southwest for a chest
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Go east then north across the rock and stand on the switch.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • That new rock that just showed up, jump across it and you can now access the Grand Caverns and Shrine of Repose.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3 | Strongest Party works here.
  • Head to the northern parts of the Inner Eye Labyrinth. The first steps and door you see are now accessible. Head north here to enter the Holy Palace.
  • Treasure: Magus Robe | At the fork, go west for a chest.
  • At the fork, head east for a boss battle.
  • Boss: Holy Dragon | Strongest Party | 55,000 HP
  • Seal of Heaven has been removed.

Seal of Lightning
  • Now that you've removed the Seal of Heaven. Go ahead and use a Teleport Stone to leave and save, heal up, re-enter. Personally, I'm gonna keep the parties the same.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3 | AKA STRONGEST PARTY
  • Take the eastern cave entrance, go east to the end. Take that staircase up. Then take the middle staircase up to enter the Dragon Temple.
  • Go north, and ride the turtle across the waters. Go east (not upstairs and east) and down the stairs. Go north to read tombstones: "GONS" "THEK" "INGO" "FDRA" or "The King of Dragons"
  • Also, boss fight above them.
  • Boss: Gold Dragon | Party 3 | 60,000 HP
  • Seal of Lightning has been removed.
Walkthrough: Part 16
The Treasure Room
  • Continuing with Party 3, head back to where the turtle took you up north to the skeleton switch. Head east up the stairs and go north through the passage.
  • In this next area, you'll find a blank gravestone. Carve the message above in the order: "THEK" "INGO" "FDRA" "GONS" to reveal a secret door. Enter it.
  • Head down two sets of stairs, staying left.
  • Treasure: Phoenix Down
  • Treasure: Elixir | From the Phoenix Down Chest, go up the middle stairs, then go down them to find a chest in a symmetrical position
  • Go down the left path where the Phoenix down was and follow the unnecessarily long stairs to a room. Head east, then south then east where you'll find a glowing light (yellow-orangish)
  • Touch the light to be teleported next to four chests.
  • Treasure: Ribbon | Northwest chest
  • Treasure: Bone Wrist | Southwest chest
  • The other two are boss fights: Plague is northeast, and Neslug is southeast.
  • Boss Bestiary #032: Plague | Boss-in-a-box
  • Treasure: Angel Brush | See Above
  • Boss Bestiary #095: Neslug | Boss-in-a-box
  • Boss Bestiary #094: Neslug's Shell | Boss-in-a-box
  • Treasure: Gungnir | See Above
  • Treasure: Stardust Rod | Head south then west from the 4 chests to find another chest
  • Exit using the the light west of the 4 chests. Head back to where you got the Elixir chest in the staircase room.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2 | This is actually the party I have with Mog + Molulu's Charm so they can't encounter any random battles with Sprint Shoes
  • Get them to the Treasure Room. Get to the four chests. Take the east light. Follow the lights until you run out of lights. The last room with just a single light, go back one then there's actually a door to the northwest on the south wall. Take it. You'll exit to the staircase room.
  • Treasure: Ribbon | Go south for a chest
  • Go north to see a dark shadow on the ground which is a switch that opens up another door just to the left.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Now go downstairs from the Elixir Chest and you'll be able to reach that recently opened door.
  • Head inside, touch the light.
  • Treasure: Dueling Mask | From the light, head south for a chest.
  • From the light, head west and the north for some chests.
  • Treasure: Genji Glove | Left Chest
  • Treasure: Crystal Orb | Middle Chest
  • Boss Bestiary #009: Flan Princess | Right Chest; Boss-in-a-box
  • Treasure: Oborzuki | See Above

The Kaiser Dragon
  • Now that you've cleared out the treasure chest, get everyone to the Dragon Temple.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Return to the room with the gravestone that you carved into. There's a shadow-switch tile in here that's darkened. Stand on it to open a door above a save point.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • Return to the Dragon Temple and move north of the turtle pond. Go through the middle. Heal up, and save. Enter the doorway. Head north until you see a switch. THIS IS MY MAIN PARTY. Do not stand on the switch. Just stand a few tiles under it.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 1
  • Head to Inner Eye Labyrinth from Grand Caverns, go east and push the weight if it isn't down. If it is down, then simply go west of the door and jump across the rock to step on the switch on the other side.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 2
  • Move him to Grand Caverns; You can take a shortcut from the east side of the pond to hit the west. Get to Inner Eye Labyrinth. Go east until you can go south across the bridges which end up going west then north. Jump across the gap now.
  • Head downstairs, go west, then northwest for the doorway. Follow it to a switch. Stand on it.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 1
  • Return to Grand Caverns, then go east. Follow the linear path until you reach the staircase that unlocked after beating the Skull Dragon. Don't go all the way up.
  • Take the bridge west and follow that linear path until you get a choice between going west or south downstairs. Go west into the door. Follow the path to the switch. Stand on it.
  • SWAP TO PARTY 3
  • <Insert Drumroll> Heal up, get ready.
  • Boss Bestiary #101: Kaiser Dragon | STRONGEST PARTY | Kaiser Dragon has 5 lives in which he uses Barrier Change to switch from a dead life. Each life has 65,500hp for a total of 327,500 hp making him most likely the hardest boss in the game.
  • Master of Dragons
    You completed the Dragons' Den.

  • The Road to Esper World
    You collected all the Magicite.

  • Now, you'll be on your airship.
  • Go back inside now because you're not done. Return to Kaiser Dragon (Pressing all 3 switches again) and you'll be met with a different foe.
  • Boss Bestiary #102: Omega Weapon | STRONGEST PARTY | Like Kaiser Dragon, Omega weapon has 3 lives with 65,500hp each for a total of 196,500hp. If you have max characters like me, you're gonna want something to counter his Lv. 3 Confuse. Other than that, shorter fight than Kaiser
  • Congratulations!
    You defeated Omega Weapon.
Walkthrough: Cleanup Finale!
If you've followed the guide to this point, then that means there's only a few things left to go for which will be mentioned here.

Testament
You completed the Soul Shrine.

After completing the Dragon's Den, you will end up with a message that something is brewing just west of Mobilz. Head to Mobilz and fly over the large western island (the one closer to the peninsula of Mobilz so not the northwestern one). Upon descent, you'll be prompted with the usual drop from the airship.

Once inside, you will have to survive 128 waves of monsters. Most of them, if you hit max damage by now, will be a cake walk. So I won't really have to list them for you. However I'll make a few notes. Though it's recommended to have at least one character at max health, as well as bringing Celes (she was my main character). Also teach Reraise, Arise, Hastega, Curaga to your support characters.
  • There are new enemies known as 'Glutturns' who look like Magic Urns, but colored. Green, Blue, Red. They desire items such as Ether, Hi-Ether, and Elixirs. HOWEVER, the game is slightly bugged. After giving them the first item, they'll ask for another. If you try to give them another, you can highlight their name, BUT there's no cursor over them. You'll have to hit up/down to get the select correct. Upon using the item, you use the item on a party member instead thus enraging them.
  • The green and blue ones are easy to deal with. The red is the one that is a real pain because when enraged, it casts Ultima and sometimes in succession. Runic worked on Ultima in the old game, but I cannot confirm if it does in this release. So best approach is to simply cast Reraise on everyone as well as regen. Reflect does not work on Ultima.
  • You end up with a break in between several waves of monsters. Each set will have at least 1 glutturn, excluding the last wave with the Dragon's Den version of the Elemental Dragons.
  • In the eighth wave, you will also fight Fiend again if you missed the Force Field lore for Strago.
  • The last wave is all the dragons of Dragon's Den INCLUDING Kaiser Dragon. This also means, you'll have to survive for a period of time against the Fire Dragon as well as drain the MP of the Skull Dragon all in a row then top it off with Kaiser Dragon at the back end of the wave.
  • There are slight changes to the order and contents of the 128 waves, but they remain MOSTLY intact. The important parts anyways.
  • I recommend quicksaving in between each wave. Red Glutturn uses Heartless Angel which leaves everyone at 1hp before he flees. Which may prove unlucky.

A Chance in a Pinch
You discovered all of the hidden "Blitz" commands.

The achievement refers to Desperation Attacks by 12 characters. There is a relatively small chance for a character to perform this desperation as it requires two conditions.
1. You must be in critical health (health displayed in yellow)
2. You must be using their default attack

The twelve character that have desperation attacks:
1. Terra: Riot Blade
2. Locke: Mirage Dive
3. Celes: Spinning Edge
4. Edgar: Royal Shock
5. Sabin: Tiger Break
6. Cyan: Tsubame Gaeshi
7. Setzer: Red Card
8. Relm: Star Prism
9. Strago: Sabre Soul
10. Shadow: Shadow Fang
11. Mog: Moogle Rush
12. Gogo: Punishing Meteor

The best way to do this achievement is head to any area where monsters are weak. Bring 2-3 guys who need the desperation attack, kill them then revive them to set them automatically in the critical health zone.

Now, use Vanish on the opposing enemies so that physical attacks cannot hit them. Then auto-battle through with everyone attacking the invisible enemies that they can never hit. If they get a desperation attack, they'll use a magic attack listed above and kill the enemy. Revive if needed.

For Gogo, he does not have an Attack command by default. So go to his status page and enable his attack command there. Otherwise, you can simply use Mimic immediately after a teammate uses attack to generate an attack command.

Setzer's Slots
You matched all the symbols on Setzer's "Slots."

Setzer's Slots are completely random. They're already generated to hit a specific set of slots and therefore do not try to land all these combinations. Simply let auto-battle do it for you. I do recommend that you save OFTEN. One of the slots will kill your entire team.

Mysidian Rabbit: Any Losing Combo
Prismatic Flash: 3x 'Gems'
Dive Bomb: 3x 'Airships'
Chocobo Stampede: 3x 'Chocobos'
Mega Flare: 3x 'Bahamut'
Summon: 3x 'BAR'
Joker's Death (Kills allies): 2x '7' and 1x 'BAR'
Joker's Death (Kills enemies) 3x '7'

King of the Beasts
You learned all of Gau's "Rage" commands.

This part is so long that I have to redirect you to a different section.

FINAL FANTASY VI Master
You unlocked all achievements.
An Uncommon Wizard - Strago's Lore
An Uncommon Wizard
You learned all of Strago's "Lore" commands.

Strago's Lore is FFVI's Blue Magic. If Strago witnesses a specific skill in battle, he will learn that skill. In order for him to witness it, he must be alive when the skill is used.

I cannot confirm the following: While he must be alive to learn the skill, he necessarily doesn't have to survive the battle like many may say.

Unlocking Oblivion
  • You must have progressed the story to reach the World of Ruin
  • You must have recovered Cyan into your party
  • Head to Doma Castle, then go to the west and you'll be in a small hallway with two doors and the hallway extending east. Enter the door on the right.
  • Rest here to have Cyan not wake up and his dreams invaded.

Bushido in the Bedroom
Cyan's Dream Sequence
  • Just a note: these bestiary will become missed if you don't get them, so make sure you have them all.
  • Bestiary #087: Parasite
  • Bestiary #199: Weredragon
  • Bestiary #202: Alluring Rider
  • Bestiary #203: Coco
  • Your starting character will be your 4th character. If Cyan is your 4th, then you play with your 3rd character instead. (You'll get the others back soon.
  • Save Point.
  • Go north til you find three doors, take the left door. You'll find your previous party leader who will join you.
  • Go north and take that door. Go north from here and take the northern door. Then take the door on the right.
  • Here you'll be reunited with your second party member and thus have the 3 party members that you came with.
  • Go northwest and take the door. Take the door to the north and you'll be back at the save point. Save here.
  • Return to the 3 doors, now take the middle door. Take the door to the west.
  • Bestiary #086: Pandora
  • Go south and go to the door. Heal up as you'll have a boss fight soon.
  • You'll want to kill Curlax, the reddish one first. He can heal/revive. Then after that, you need to take out Laragorn who is in the back. He can flee thus making the bestiary missable.
  • Boss Bestiary #025: Curlax
  • Boss Bestiary #026: Laragorn
  • Boss Bestiary #027: Moebius
  • Enter the door for the next sequence.

Phantom Train Sequence
  • Bestiary #197: Samurai
  • Bestiary #198: Suriande
  • Bestiary #085: Al Jabr
  • Go west. Save Point! Go west some more.
  • Treasure: Genji Gloves | In the second train car, you'll notice a chest and a hole. To the right of the crate, there's a switch. Flip that and then walk around for the chest.
  • Treasure: Flame Shield | In the same room, there's another chest that's being blocked by a moving chest. Go to the west and open the chest for a 'Lump of Metal' so you can place it in the open chest that keeps blocking you to access the chest behind it.
  • Flip the switch above the 6 open chests. Remember the positions of open/close for all 6. It's scripted from left to right: Top: [Open][Open][Closed] Bottom: [Closed][Closed][Open]
  • Go west into the next train car. Once inside, go north, west, and flip the switch (Switch #1).
  • Treasure: X-Potion | From the previous point, it's the chest directly south of you and to the right.
  • Treasure: Ice Shield | From the prev. chest, go west and there's a chest.
  • Now go west and hit the switch (Switch #3). Return to Switch #1 and hit it. Then hit Switch #2.
  • Now that you've raised the lower left chair, hit Switch #1 to block out Switch #2 then hit switch #3 to raise up the crate so you can pass on the bottom.
  • Head west now and hit the 4th switch. Arrange the chests as they appeared earlier.
  • Top: [Open][Open][Closed]
  • Bottom: [Closed][Closed][Open]
  • Now pull the switch at the top to open the path to the west.
  • Go West. Save Point! Go west and inside the room. Flip switches, I had Down Up Up, then walk out.

Cavern Sequence
  • Bestiary #254: Io
  • Bestiary #201: Pluto Armor
  • Bestiary #200: Schmidt
  • Go south, follow the path in a counter-clock wise circle. Now there will be two doors. One to the southwest, but a path to the southeast. Southwest will resume the circle. Southeast will move you to the next area.
  • You should see Cyan, go follow him.

Castle Doma Sequence
  • Save Point!
  • Either wander around, or go to the throne room to get this over with.
  • Boss Bestiary #028: Wrexsoul
  • Boss Bestiary #002: Soul Savers

Masterful Mastership! - Sabin's Blitzes
Masterful Mastership!
You learned all of Sabin's "Blitz" commands.

Blitzes
Just a note, you do not have to use them. You simply have to learn them. All blitz are learned through reaching a specific level.

L = Left
R = Right
U = Up
D = Down
If there is a '+', that means it's a combination of two directions.

Phantom Rush
  • Learned at Level 70
  • You can bypass the level 70 requirement by performing a different task with Sabin; see blow

Unlocking Phantom Rush
  • You need two things: Sabin and the Falcon Airship
  • With Sabin in your party, head to the central north continent where Narshe is located. Head northeast on the island until you reach a mountain with some trees to the south.
  • The trees make a + shape. Duncan's house is located in the middle tree. Enter it.
  • Upon entering the house, you will have a cutscene resulting in Sabin learning the move.
King of the Beasts - Gau's Rages
  • There are 253 rages in the game.
  • That's 85 rows of 3 rages for a total of 255 slots (2^8)
  • Of those 255 slots, two are blank originally intended for Typhon and Siegfried which are both available in the Coliseum; however, they do not spawn inside the Veldt.
  • Another set of occurrence is the Death Warden. There are only two spawns for the Death Warden. The first is within the Cave on the Veldt as a Monster-in-a-box. This does not count for the Veldt. The second is the encounter inside the Soul Shrine. This one DOES count for the Veldt.
  • There are 4 enemies that contain rages and are NOT listed inside the bestiary. The ??? denotes a lack of a bestiary entry.
  • ??? Doberman | When at the imperial camp, if you go inside the tent that General Leo was in, you'll see a chest at the top right. You MUST kick it, otherwise you will have missed this rage forever.
  • ??? Darkside | When revisiting the northern Narshe Mines during the World of Balance, there will be a light puzzle where you must trace the path that the light took to avoid battle. Make sure you INTENTIONALLY MESS UP to trigger another minigame. If you hit [OK] on the orange star, you will avoid battle. If you hit [OK] on the blue stars, you will engage in a battle thus giving access to the 3 rages listed here. (The two below)
  • ??? Specter | See above.
  • ??? Eukaryote | See above.

How to earn Rages
  • With Gau in your party, fighting in the Veldt will spawn formations that you've encountered during your entire gameplay thus far which is why it's important that you complete the bestiary to assure yourself that you did NOT miss any entries while attempting to search for specific enemies.
  • During battle, if you leap from a battle, Gau will learn every rage of the monsters within that formation. When Gau returns from his leap at the end of a battle later on, he will learn any rages for that battle as well. He will NOT learn rages for the battles in between these two events, if any.

Manipulating the Veldt
  • Before we explain manipulation, we need to explain how the Veldt works. There are 62 Packs of Formations that the Veldt uses, including some blank ones which means that pack is skipped.
  • Each pack has 8 formations in each. Everytime a pack is in play, ANY one of the 8 can spawn giving each a 12.5% chance. Of course, you would have to have fought all 8 formations in that pack, else you'll have a higher encounter rate.
  • Unfortunately, the RPG Maker version, aka this version, of the game has randomized the Veldt pack that you end up with upon going to the save screen. Everytime you return from a hard save, you'll start an entirely new pack (which isn't so bad).
  • Quicksaving will not mix up the pack you get nor the entry you get from a pack.
  • Now onto the manipulation. In the following section, I will list all 62 packs and what formations are in each pack (thanks to some dudes whom I will name in the pack section).
  • With that information, you can determine which pack you want to get to in order to get a chance of finding a specific enemy to obtain their rage.
  • Everytime you fight a pack, you go to the next numerical pack. So if you were on pack 20 and you fight that formation from pack 20. The next formation you fight will be from pack 21. The pack after that will be 22, etc.
  • Now the way this works is, say you want an enemy from Pack 30. Simply fight a pack, determine what number that pack is and if it's close enough to one that you do need, then you can fight your way to that pack to get that specific rage.
  • If you aren't anywhere near the packs you need, simply save and reload to get a new pack.
  • Repeat, pray to RNGesus, and once you get all rages, the achievement will pop.

Rage Packs
The rage packs will not be listed here for two reasons:
1. We used someone else's rage pack, it is their work. We give our thanks deeply to both TriforceSD and Djibriel of GameFAQs
2. It'll be much easier to use CTRL+F in the following link as opposed to the rage packs being listed here.

Hey there, loving your guide as always. I'm running through the Cave to the Sealed Gate now and I have encountered Antares in the 3rd room (B2F). Just wanted to drop this here as you say they are first room only.
Cyrus 15 Apr, 2023 @ 8:47pm
Excellent guide! I do have one addition to make, though: In Sabin's dream, the Io enemy appears only in the first cavern room, and not the following rooms. It would be good to note this in the guide, so that people know to fight Io before moving on, since you can't return to the first room after leaving it.

Endgame question
Im stuck on the falcon after beating kefka. i cant fly it and no one else is on the ship with me its just gambler man. Am i supposed to warp out before beating kefka?
Nevalopo 25 Sep, 2022 @ 9:24am
Im also wondering about the potion next to the tent in the phantom train.

Anyone can find it? Did it get removed? Checked everywhere facing every direction i can't find it.:veryafraid:
Lollipopcake 7 Aug, 2022 @ 10:29am
Can't find the potion in the train "next to the tent" for the life of me. I checked every space in that cabin. Any advice?
thespaceyeti 13 Jun, 2022 @ 4:13am
Thanks a lot for this guide op! I played ffvi originally on an emulator (the gba version) and still remember when i realized too late that i had lost shadow and my save was already overwritten.
So when i got this steam version i wanted to make sure i got every single squeeze of content out of this masterpiece!! Your guide was just perfect for this and now that i only have some final cleanup left i just wanted to say massive thanks, just in case you still occasionally return to this page after years! :mog:

You should add the Hi-Ether that mention Mood.
rnagy32583 3 Mar, 2022 @ 4:02pm
